AVOID THIS LOCATION! Poor customer service. I had an incredibly frustrating experience at the Avis Car Rental in Temecula, CA. I reserved a Full-Size car a week in advance, but when I arrived, they told me it wasn't available. Instead of upgrading me or offering a price adjustment, they tried to force an involuntary downgrade to a Standard car. When I requested fair compensation for the cheaper vehicle class, the counter agent was completely dismissive and gave me a rude "take it or leave it" ultimatum. Because I refused to be ripped off, they refused to rent to me at all. Fortunately, I booked my reservation through Costco Travel, so I wasn't charged for their failure. I walked right across the street to a competitor, who happily rented me the exact vehicle class I needed without any issues. Avis in Temecula has awful customer service and zero problem-solving skills. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. I had rented from this location for many years with the previous management without problem. read more

Filled up the car ($53.00) thinking I needed it for a week and tried airing it out. I ended up only needing it for two days and obviously returned with a full tank of gas, and it still stunk. I was told that it wasn't their problem and I should have just returned it with the same amount of gas! They didn't care how the car smelled. Said they could discount my bill $20. Absolute garbage incompetent representative at this location including the manager Isaiah is an absolute idiot. I disagreed on getting their insurance policy on the rental and they got so upset and threatened to kick me out of their office. I booked through Priceline and because it was a low rate they were trying to push their insurance on me. Even the associate told me that this is a very low rate and it usually costs more than $300 for the day rental. So to make up for the low rate they tried to push their insurance on me. I filed a complaint with the corporate office and have everything on recording. Extremely unprofessional stay away from this garbage place. The manager is an absolute incompetent moron who has no idea of customer service and how to handle the clients. Just drive up north about 2 miles. There's another location on Madison Ave and it's much better service. Stay away from this garbage location. Both the associate and manager are incompetent idiots. read more

The experience that we had was not a very good one in the end. Initially we had a reservation with Enterprise & it was cancelled due to Pacifica vans being recalled of which we found out the day b4 our trip. We went to Avis & Isaac was very helpful in providing a vehicle that very day. Due to the issue he actually stated that he would give us the insurance for the time we have the van at no cost. The van was not clean, maintenance light came on close to our destination. We called them to let them know & they did not seem concerned. My husband checked the car the day after arrival & the van needed, windshield washer fluid, oil & antifreeze. We had just driven a good 1900 miles. In returning our car we told him what had happened & all he could say is sorry & said that he did not say he would throw in the insurance as a courtesy. Lots of attitude read more

I rented a car from here, through Costco travel, went to pick up the car. I was given paper work to sign, I was to sign 4 spots in order to rent the car. No, explanation that I was signing for an additional 75.00 charge on top of what I had already agreed to on the Costco travel site. Returned the vehicle with no issues and saw the charge the next day on my credit card. BEWARE, they will try to charge you additional fees without explanation. Terrible experience. Reserved a car online for a pickup at noon on Labor Day. Because it was Labor Day they closed at noon but it wasn't posted on any sites at all and i wasn't notified by anyone even when I had a reservation. Worst part is I got there at 12:01PM. There were still two employees in the office but door was locked. One went to go get who I'm assuming was the supervisor or manager. She walks up to the door and says "sorry we are closed and can't give you a car." I explained that I have a reservation at noon and all she says is "you should have came at 11:59 am." I had to call the corporate office where they told me the site should be open until 6pm. Well, they were closed. I eventually got a refund but what a waste of my time. read more

I am not sure where to begin and I don't think it's the employees fault. I think AVIS and Budget need to do a edition of undercover boss at this place and get rid of whomever trained or not trained these people. My particular experience was that the office is in a strip mall and just outdated. It has no windows, minimal seating inside, old paint, no atmosphere and No pictures on walls, it looks like the office is a cover for illegal activities going out back. Car rental out front and stolen merchandise out back. The employees don't even wear uniforms, it's like the allied troops all left and the Taliban just took over the place. During pickup there was no explanation of the car rental process, and Not no one even walked to the car with me to discuss anything. They don't care. When I went to drop off there were two ladies working the counter. There were other people in front of me. No greeting, no acknowledgment that someone had walked in. Even a please be patient as we process these poor people. Nothing. It took me 30 minutes to drop a car off. At one point the employees have to leave to go get the cars, which I understand, but then seeing them out here just chit chatting with customers even appeared like elbowing (can't high five cause Of COVID) and dancing while we all wait inside was a bit much. Avoid at all cost. This location is absolutely horrendous, they have no cars available and the staff is untrained and rude. I know there is employee shortage atm, but the manager (who proudly claims to have worked for Avis for 10 years) needs to fire without a second thought. We made a reservation for a vehicle two weeks ahead, but when we showed up on the day of pick up, the staff nonchalantly told us they are short on cars and they don't have one for us. Absolutely mind boggling. When asked for the manager, the employee called her up and mockingly told her we have a lot more questions and she doesn't feel like dealing with us. The manager was rude and abrasive, acting like we were an inconvenience to her business. An absolute insult. Spare yourself and go to Enterprise, or really any other car rental place that respects and values it's customers. read more

I definitely wouldn't be calling Avis if you need to rent a car. I made a reservation on Saturday for Sunday pick up at noon. When I called a little before noon to make sure the vehicle I had reserved was ready no one picked up and then I looked at their hours and they close at noon. So I called their 1800 number and had my reservation switched to Monday pick up at 8 AM I get there and they do not have any vehicles and I was told I'd have to wait an hour or more. I'm sorry but why would you take a reservation for a pick up time when you're closed and then not have a vehicle the next business day for that reservation ?! read more

Terrible customer service upon returning the vehicle in Temecula. The service rep was extremely rude even after attempting to reach out by phone to advise I was running 5 minutes behind on the return time, the service rep named Daisy could not even give me a few minutes of grace time being that the car was only rented for 4hrs coming from LAX on 11/25/2020 She could not work with me in anyway and told me if I didn't make it to the facility by their closing time they would be locking up exactly at 6pm. I arrived at 5:59 in an extreme rush and even upon arrival she had the audacity to tell me to lay all my luggage on the dirty parking lot so she can take the car back and lock up immediately as my uber was just driving up to get me. Because of rushing I did not even get 2 minutes to refuel $15 worth of spent fuel at the gas station that was directly next door to the rental facility so I was charged an additional $40 fuel charge! When I asked the service rep for her name she refused to give it to me and told me it would be printed on my invoice which would be emailed to me. However, I never received an invoice. I returned 4 days later to pick up a new vehicle at the same location in Temecula and had to ask the other reps working that day for a print out of my invoice from the prior rental which still did not have that persons name on it. Luckily the reps working that day were able to identify and give me her name "Daisy". While the reps at this location were friendlier the second time around the vehicle they provided me smelled like a total ash tray I had to drive with the windows down the entire time. As a long time customer of Avis I will not be returning to this location ever again and I will advise others to do the same. read more

I use Avis for corporate travel and will probably switch the Hertz after my experience here. For one, I had a rental agreement that required that I pick up the vehicle at 12pm and return the same time on a future date. I showed up to the Avis location at 1130am and left with the vehicle at around 1145am. After returning the vehicle a few days later at exactly 12pm I realized that Avis charged me a full day ($53) for the 15 or so minutes I picked up the car early. I called Avis customer care and they refused to refund me for the extra day. For someone who travels regularly for work they just lost out on a ton of future business for that $53. Second, I left a cell phone mount in the vehicle when I returned the vehicle. There was only one employee at that location when I returned the car. After realizing my mistake I called the same day (multiple times) to have them set aside the cell phone mount. All calls went to voicemail. On Monday when I called in the morning magically the cell phone mount disappeared. I went to the location and asked to see the vehicle which a different employee helped me with. Upon opening the vehicle all of our receipts and some trash left behind were still in the vehicle which made it obvious that the car was not rented after I returned it. Despite this, the mount was still gone and I was told they would look into it and call me if it shows up. Based on my above experience I'll be switching to Hertz for corporate travel moving forward and recommend anyone to stay away from this location. read more

There have been times when I need to rent a car last minute and Avis always delivers. The fact that they're nearby helps so we don't have to rent a car at an airport and drive out of our way. We rented a car for a few our weekend road trips and this place delivers every time. The prices are reasonable and you can pre-pay or pay the day of (pre-paying is cheaper, of course). The car we got was a Kia Sorrento with only 900 miles on it. We were in and out of there without an issue. Best thing is, they were open on July 4th so we were able to drop the car off the morning of for the same price instead of rushing home on July 3rd before they close. read more

The San Diego airport is poorly designed so this isn't close, but that's not Avis's fault. What is their fault is they are still sticking customers with sky-high fuel bills if they forget to fuel up before returning the car. And with many people like me stressing about catching a flight and not knowing where nearby gas stations are- it's easy to forget. I recently used Budget or Hertz- I forget which- but I was shocked when they offered (in advance) to refuel the rental car at prices nearly identical to local gas stations- no 300% markup on the price or anything. I wish Avis would do something similar and stop leaving customers like me with a bad experience. read more

This was the sketchiest, trashiest car rental place we have ever experienced. We prepaid months in advance for a vehicle they didn't end up having (a convertible for our honeymoon) so we asked the employee what the next best option was and the woman pulled around a filthy, old Mazda that smelled like cigarette smoke from 10ft away. If the plates didn't say Wyoming I would have assumed it was her personal vehicle. She attempted to have us sign for the car before initiating any inspections and refused to give us reimbursement or a refund for our prepaid rental. I wouldn't be surprised if this woman was just a person off the street by the way she behaved and was dressed. Stay away from Avis & especially stay away from this location being ran by a sloppy middle aged woman in her pajamas. The service at the Murrieta location on Jefferson is horrible!! Made a reservation online for a car...I was given a pickup time for noon on a Sunday. Showed up at noon and was turned away because they were 'closed'. Why confirm a pickup time for the time the office closes??? They people at the office offered no apology, and said there is NOTHING they can do, no discount for having to drive to Ontario airport for a rental car. Very disappointed with this location and will never use there service, and will strongly recommend anyone AVOID THIS LOCATION!!!! read more

God I wish I had checked the reviews before renting from here! Never again! Cat was dirty, spilled coffee inside. Smoke smell so bad it gave me a headache and I used to be a smoker. Gas not on full and the staff was so unprofessional both in the clothing and attitude. The phone was ringing off the hook and they didn't care. Then they both left the minute they gave me keys. Had a horrible experience at this location. The staff displayed zero customer service from the beginning of my transaction. I was in need of a car last minute so they were my only option. The price was extremely high almost 100 per day for a Toyota Camry. After getting the keys Chris who never even got up from the desk to show me where the car was located sat there like a bullfrog on a log. Once I found my car I noticed that it had door dings and scratches. Since we did not do a walk around the car prior to check out I did not want to be responsible for those damages. I went back in and of course he was in the same spot. I asked him about the damages and he stated thats fine the fender would have to be hanging off for us to care. I also told him that the car indicated it was due for service. Once again he came up with "oh that's ok it shouldn't stop on you". Keeping in mind I'm paying top dollar for a beat up Camry that shouldn't stop on me. I brought the car back 2 days earlier to save on the price of my rental. I then had the misfortune of meeting Joel. I asked if I could pay with my debt card and use my AAA card for any discounts. Since I brought the car back 2 days earlier I'm expecting to see a reduction in the price. Well after everything was completed I was charged 250 dollars more than I was quoted for the rental. Bu me bringing the car bac 2 days earlier saved me $45.00. I would've been better off keeping the car and driving it all over the world for 2 additional days then bringing it back early. And to add insult to injury he charged the deposit onto my debt card which held those funds for 5 to 7 business days. Joel offered no warnings prior nor did he make any attempts to provide any resolution for my concern. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I had to book a car for a friend, and this was the best price around for a pickup/dropoff in different locations. Since the Fallbrook location wasn't open the day we needed it, I sent him to Temecula. I'd read the reviews and warned him that it might not go very smoothly, so was pleasantly surprised when he said it was great: friendly, efficient service, quick rental procedure, and all around a good experience. Now, if I can just get him to relinquish the Jeep Wrangler... I asked him to go back inside to get the names of the people who'd helped him, but he was already on the road. I do remember that it was Josh I spoke with on the phone, and he was very helpful. read more

I picked up an absolutely filthy car. When I returned the car Daisy said the fuel gauge didn't quite touch the full mark. I had just filled the car at the corner Arco station before my first attempt to return the vehicle. The vehicle had a "Miles to Empty" reading on the gauges. When I picked the car up it showed 318 miles on the gauge. When I returned the car it showed 370 miles to empty, clearly more than when I received the car. In fear of further unnecessary charges I went back to Arco. The gas pump would not dispense more than a half gallon before shutting off. The gauge still would not quite touch the top line; clearly a faulty gauge or equipment. When I returned with the vehicle, Daisy still wouldn't acknowledge the dirty condition of the car when received or the faulty equipment. When Daisy kept denying responsibility by her "FRANCHISE" I asked to see the Business License required to be posted in a conspicuous place. She claimed the "FRANCHISE" was owned by "some guy," but wouldnt show me a business license. Daisy further refused to name the owner. Seems a little suspicious they don't want their customers to know who is in charge. I was expecting Daisy to come inspect the vehicle after my return so I waited over 15 minutes. After leaving with my ride we see Police vehicles speeding up to the location!!! Apparently Daisy felt it necessary to call for POLICE BAKCK-UP to answer challenging questions. Don't use these FLY BY NIGHT operators!!! Use Enterprise or Hertz. I've never had trouble with either Enterprise or Hertz - Avis is garbage! Especially Daisy and the Temecula location. Daisy instead disappeared into the rear office. read more

I'm a Hertz person. Generally - - I don't like to use anything but Hertz. But then other people have their own loyalties - and Rob's and mine never seem to coincide, so off to Avis we went. I never seem to win with him!!!!! Granted, he's all high and mighty at Avis, being preferred and all - and from the umpteen times I have witnessed, service (for him anyhow) is very good. On this day, having landed in San Diego - we found the weather to be unusually warm. We left SF in down jackets, and found ourselves stripping layers off upon arriving after a one hour plus flight. Grace: "Wow, it's pretty warm down here... perfect weather." Rob: "Yep." Grace: "I wish we were getting a convertible." Rob: "Yeah, woulda been nice." Off to the Avis bus, and we're driven to the office where they drop preferred members off at specific parking spots where a car is already reserved for them. Rob takes off for the office, luggage in tow, totally ignoring his reserved car. Rob: "Hey - you reserved spot 109 for us - but I was wondering if you have any convertibles." Agent looks - - finds one, and says, "No problem - we do - - and we'll switch you free of charge, sir. It's in spot 129, keys are in the car." Two minutes later, we're driving out of there in a black Ford Mustang with the top down, and my hair blowing all over God's earth and the sun welcoming us to Southern California. OK - so this is why I always let him win. read more

I truly wish I could go lower than one star, as this was my worst car rental experience ever, and one of the worst consumer experiences I've ever had. I should begin by saying that the majority of my problems were the result of on employee. The other two people I interacted with provided good, courteous service. To begin with, only 1 person works after 12pm. Because of this, you cannot get a ride, the phone is not consistently answered, and wait times can be long. Beyond that issue, the employee whom I interacted with, both at pick-up and drop-off (her name is Daisy),was one of the most apathetic people I've ever met. When I rented the car, she failed to inform me of anything. She simply handed me the keys and started to walk away. I asked her if an inspection was required, and she said 'no' and continued walking. I then followed her to ask about the gas policy, and she said 'return it full' and continued walking again. Her answers were short, bored and - while not exactly rude - very unfriendly. On the day of the return, I tried to call the location for several hours to ask what time the car was due, but nobody ever picked up the phone. Eventually I gave up and drove there - but by then it was afternoon, and I hit traffic, causing me (of course) to be late. I wound up paying for another full day. Making matters worse, there appeared to be something wrong with the gas gauge. I had driven 415 miles at ~32mpg, but it took almost 18 gallons to fill up the car (i.e. about 5 additional gallons, even though the car had displayed at 90-95% full when I picked it up). When I informed Ms. Apathetic, she simply stared at me and didn't even vocalize a response. When I asked if she would have it checked it, she said 'yes' but clearly did not make any notes on the issue. After returning the car, I asked for a ride. I was told 'no,' and upon asking why she said 'I can call you a cab.' I said 'it's less than a mile away' and was told that she 'could not leave the store since she was alone.' So I called for a ride, and went outside to wait. 10 minutes later, at 5:58 or 5:59pm, I remembered that I had left some items in the car. I began to knock on the door of the store (it was set to close at 6pm, but was already locked). After 2 minutes, the woman came to the front door. I asked if I could get my stuff from the car, and she said no. She claimed that she had set an alarm and could not disable it. I explained that I loved 4 hours away (each way), and asked if she could just call her manager to ask permission so I could enter the car. She told me no, that she was late for a personal appointment. I repeated that I would have to drive 8 hours round trip to pick up my items, and she said 'well I will hold them in the store.' At the same time, another couple arrived to rent a car. They had just driven for 12 hours, hit the same traffic as I did, and arrived at 6:03pm. They had been told by the Avis parent company that they could have a vehicle until 6:05pm, and even had a printed reservation attesting to this. The woman also refused to rent them a car. The other couple and I were both trying to argue with the employee, and she refused to help us in any way. After a couple of minutes, she simply walked away from us and got in her car while we were talking. So we finally asked for her manager's information, and she refused and then drove away!! (guess she had the ability to leave the store after all, huh??) (Note: believe it or not, this is the abridged version of the story! The overall experience included quite a few other problems, all due to the woman Daisy - but I felt that this post was already too long, and cut it down). read more

The woman helping me was sweaty disheveled wearing a spaghetti staples tank with her giant purple lace bra out for display. Very unprofessional. I've been renting there for months and never had an issue. I went in to renew and the woman said 300$ would be held for my months rental. Instead 1500$ was taken out even though I had only had the car for a few days. After spending 40 min on the phone with the Avis call center they confrmed that she ran it as a purchase and did it incorrectly. When I confronted the woman Instead of apologizing she felt it professional to take a jab at me by said "well rentals are expensive" insinuating I can't afford it, when she is the one working at the Avis rental place. Spend the extra money and avoid degenerates having access you're account and screwing up your funds. Extremely poor customer service, absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. read more
