I had to get a rental car at the last minute on a Saturday. My online search brings me to BUDGET/AVIS in the Fire House Plaza. It wasn't too far from where I live and it was easy to reserve, prepay and arranged my pick-up time: 1PM. But I get there at 1 and Avis/Budget was CLOSED!!! Lights out. Door locked. Not a person in sight. We walk around the building to hopefully find another entrance or someone from the company that can help us. We find nothing. So we sit there for a minute hoping people parking are an employee retuning from lunch. Nope! So I call customer service and she says I should have checked the website for their hours!!! WHY WOULD I CHECK THEIR HOURS IF THEIR SYSTEM ALLOWED ME TO MAKE A RESERVATION AT THAT SPECIFIC LOCATION FOR THAT SPECIFIC TIME?!?! She then says I need to go to the Oxnard Airport location before they close at 2PM. By this time she's placed me on hold multiple times and I'm back at home. I tell her that according to my navigation I can't get to the Oxnard location before 2 pm. At that point I figure I'm getting a refund and my plans are ruined. NOPE! Worse! She tells me that I will be charged for the rental AND charged a $50 fee!!!! I could not believe what I was hearing. She didn't back down from this either and continued to place me on hold like she was going to get her supervisor like I had asked her to do, or to get permission to not charge me at all and that didn't not happen. The phone call ended with me being extremely angry and calling her a few choice words. Not gonna lie. I call back and speak to a gentleman who immediately assured me that I would not be charged for the rental or the $50. Thank goodness it ended well but not before my entire dayhad been destroyed and my nerves shot. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had dealing with customer service at a corporation in my lifetime!

Let's begin in Ventura. Tuesday, July 15, 2025. I arrived at 9:30 AM sharp on time for my scheduled rental at the Enterprise location on S. Victoria Ave in Ventura, CA. As a professional truck driver trying to make my way back home after a long haul, timeliness wasn't just a preference it was essential. Upon arrival, I was quickly checked in by a young woman, but there were no vehicles on site. I politely asked when a vehicle might be available, and she simply repeated, "a few minutes." Those minutes turned into nearly an hour. Around 10:30 AM, a vehicle was finally returned but not ready. I watched as the employee took it to get gassed, "cleaned" it quickly, and then handed it off to me. The delay not only set me back but added to the fatigue and frustration of someone who was already running on fumes. What added salt to the wound? During my wait, I noticed an SUV on the lot and asked if I could just take that one instead. Her response: only if I paid extra for the upgrade. No flexibility, no consideration. Just an upsell. Tired and unimpressed, I declined. Fast forward to the drop-off at Salinas South. This is where the story and my perspective completely shifted. At 280 Mortensen Ave in Salinas, CA, I was greeted by a manager named Dainya, whose professionalism and warmth immediately stood out. As we approached the car, I overheard her colleague say they could offer a customer a free upgrade due to limited availability. Surprised, I asked Dainya if this was common practice. Her reply? "Absolutely." No hesitation. No upcharge. Just good service. When I shared my Ventura experience, her response wasn't defensive. She didn't deflect. She empathized. And then despite not being responsible for my negative experience she went out of her way to make it right. She applied a small discount to my rental as a gesture of goodwill. That small act meant a lot. It wasn't about the money it was about being seen and valued as a customer. Here's the truth: Salinas South embodies what customer service should look like. Ventura, unfortunately, missed the mark. And if Enterprise is indeed a single unified corporation, as Dainya confirmed, then consistency should be a standard not a gamble. To Enterprise management: Promote leaders like Dainya. Let her train others. Make her the face of your company culture. Her empathy, authority, and care turned a sour experience into one that renewed my loyalty. And as a returning customer for years, that matters. But I strongly encourage leadership to address the Ventura location's approach. Rigid policies, poor communication, and lack of situational awareness will cost you customers. One location redeemed your brand. The other nearly lost me. Respectfully, A seasoned traveler, loyal customer, and someone who knows the value of service done right.

They also had all the same type of services such as roadside assistance, insurance, and several add-ons. The main reason I kept coming back is the staff is AMAZING! Sai and Henry will always bring you a clean fueled vehicle, will recommend what vehicle works best for the distance you're traveling or its use, plus they will also help you if you suddenly need to extend the use. Can't say enough how much I recommend them and I'll continue to use them!

Where do I start? They don't list any pricing, so you have to call. I was quoted 79.95 a day for…read morea truck. Showed up and now it's 89.95. I made a reservation for 10am. The extremely rude and confrontional employee at counter says truck is due back 8am. I said.. OK, it's just I rented another truck at Enterprise and it was a 24 hour rental. He says "this isn't Enterprise". Well, yah. He then informs me that I need to refill the tank with gas(of course), but I need to provide them a receipt or they will take the truck and refill it at 8.00 a gallon. He was correct, this isn't Enterprise or any other place I've rented vehicles from. I'm doing the walkaround and I notice the check engine light is on and I'm told "not to worry". BTW, in the pics you'll see how they conveniently placed the sticked over the check engine light(hoping nobody would notice?) I don't have much of a choice at this point, so I do my business and luckily the "bucket of bolts with 150k miles on it doesn't fall apart". First of all, we picked the truck up at 2:30pm yesterday and returned it at 10am this morning and we were charged for TWO FULL DAYS for less than 1 day of having the truck. Upon picking up the truck, we were required to do a walk around with one of their workers. He was very quick and pointed out everything they had seen and had me initial for those things and sign. I did so, trusting that since it was their truck, they knew everything that was wrong with it. When my driver returned Rent It called me and their representative Brian was very curt said he damaged the top cap of the truck and charged me $450 to replace it. I told him that we didn't do the damage and that my driver had absolutely no opportunity to damage it as there was NOTHING OVERHEAD ON HIS ROUTE OTHER THAN SKY. Regardless of this, he didn't listen or care and proceeded to tell me he was going to charge it anyways. I guess my mistake was not taking pictures of the truck since they don't bother to take some of their own. They would rather baselessly accuse and charge their customers. I very rarely write reviews but I felt I needed to so maybe someone will think twice before using Rent It for their truck needs. Terrible company, terrible customer service, negligent policies. Never again.

I would appreciate a formal review of this incident, including clarification on why a confirmed reservation was not honored, why false allegations were made, and why service was denied at a second location. Rented a car here since my car was in a accident (not at fault)…read more Called in and they didn't have the correct reservation number, I had to get GEICO on a 3 way call just to make sure it was correct and the car that was going to be provided was a mid size suv since that is what I drive normally. Picked up the car, they didn't go over any additional coverage options.... The last day I needed the car the tire went flat, I called and spoke to Helen who was completely rude and lacked compassion, she told me additional coverage should've been offered to me and that I would need my coverage to change the flat to spare. I had my insurance change it. I called enterprise corporate to tell them about my experience... (spoke with someone from another country) they told me they would inform the location I would bring it back with quarter tank of gas and not full due to the inconvenience... dropped off the car and a gentleman with glasses and blonde hair told me he would call me the next day to discuss Helen's behavior towards me, he never called and I never got my deposit back... no one answers the phone either
