My experience with dollar rent a car at Oxnard airport was amazing to the 10th power. The two gentlemen knew that I was waiting for a car that I reserved at Avis. They didn't not try to solicit me but instead I solicited them and found that those two gentlemen had A+ Customer service. When I approached the counter they were on it. With all smiles they hit me into a car within a kind smile and took care of everything in less than ten minutes I was driving off. My worries were over and I was on my way. I had returned here after being satisfied with previous rental from Dollar. During my last visit it was straight forward and the rep (Henry) was super helpful and nice. So I decided I would book again over a week in advance. I scheduled my pick at 4pm. Only because that's when I was able to get a ride to pick up the rental. Got texts before my pick up date and morning of that my car was reserved and would be held. Upon arrival no one was at the counter so I waited. The dollar rep came in and asked if I needed help and when I told him I was here to pick up he got very serious. I wanted to make small talk and asked if he was Henry. He responded very rudely "yeah why" and I just let him know he helped me last time. He didn't answer after that. Basically told me they didn't have a car for me unless I wanted a van or sprinter. I told him no I didn't need that much room. He proceeded to say he didn't have anything available unless he calls his Simi valley store which closed in 30 minutes. The reason why was the cars he expected back didn't come back. But my reservation was for 4pm does he not have access to the daily rentals? They could've planned and asked for the other store to bring a car if they knew none came back. Anyways I ended up with no car although I reserved one. I guess reserving a car doesn't mean anything. I had to walk to the Avis counter next door and get rental through them since it was late and almost all rental places were about to close. The lot looked full so I assume those were all Avis cars. It ended up costing me more and pushed my trip departure as well. Not sure if I will rent from here again but if you do call to confirm before going in. read more

Doing my research (Budget/Avis are at the same location but priced much higher) I saw Dollar had a wide range fleet of vehicles for a much more affordable price range. They also had all the same type of services such as roadside assistance, insurance, and several add-ons. The main reason I kept coming back is the staff is AMAZING! Sai and Henry will always bring you a clean fueled vehicle, will recommend what vehicle works best for the distance you're traveling or its use, plus they will also help you if you suddenly need to extend the use. The representative offered to rent me an Infiniti model instead at 3 times the cost of the car I had booked. I understand that others have experienced the same dishonest treatment. I also witnessed the representative repeatedly pushing another customer to purchase the Dollar vehicle coverage even though the customer declined it numerous times and provided her current insurance information. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this rental location. I arrived a few hours before my scheduled pickup time and was told that if I wanted a vehicle immediately, I only had two options available. I was placed in a Nissan Altima at a rate of approximately $69 per day. At no point was it made clear to me that arriving early would result in such a significant increase in the rental cost. Had I known, I would have simply returned at my scheduled pickup time. The following day, after realizing how much I was being charged, and noticing the fuel tank was not full at time of pickup, I attempted to return the vehicle and discuss a refund. I spent hours waiting for the General Manager, Sai, to return my call. When I finally reached him, he acted as though I was inconveniencing him rather than addressing a legitimate customer concern. During our conversation, he repeatedly emphasized that he had other customers to call and even pointed out how long he had been on the phone with me, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of taking responsibility for the situation or showing any understanding, he made me feel as though I was somehow at fault for being unhappy with the charges. His initial offer was a refund of only $35. He later increased it to $50 as a "final offer." When I did not immediately respond with the gratitude he apparently expected, he withdrew the offer and abruptly hung up on me. What disappointed me most was not the money, but the complete lack of customer service, empathy, and professionalism. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, especially when they are trying to resolve a concern in good faith. Usually, I have a pretty good experience here. But the last time I rented here, I was told that I cannot use my credit cards insurance and I would have to use another insurance or purchase theirs. I looked this up later and saw that it was actually a lie and it's a tactic that scamming sales people will do to coerce you to use their insurance. Had a reservation through AAA. On arrival, my reservation in their system reads CANCELLED. I called their corporate office, and it's NOT cancelled in their system. The guy at the desk took a screen shot on his phone of the cancelled reservation. I found this incredibly off putting because there was a "drop-down" on showing that he may have just changed it to Cancelled there on the spot. Also his body language shows me that he's not being truthful when he said to me "if i had known you were coming I would have had a car for you" and I told him THATS WHAT RESERVATIONS ARE FOR. I was stranded, so I had to rent a car through AVIS next door from them, for double the cost. I then called Dollar to register a complaint, and after 45 minutes on hold and asking for supervisors I was told my complaint had been made but I was not able to receive any confirmation that it was. I was also told that this location is a "licensee" and therefore they can skate responsibility by telling me that it was a local problem. Hogwash!! I called AAA back and they handled it. Opened a complain form, asked for my overpayment charge, and will work on getting me a voucher. Do not use this rental place, unless you make triple sure that your confirmation is GOOD at this LOCAL pick up location. read more

We made a reservation online through Priceline.com and bought the insurance. I paid $91 for the insurance and then $202 for a 7 day rental. I sent my husband to pick it up with a screenshot of the reservation and payment. He was told the reservation hadn't gone through and they only had more expensive cars. He was giving a Nissan Sentra and charged $656.91. I called them back and was told my husband agreed to pay more, so it was our fault. We went back and let's just say it was the worst experience ever. We returned the car and it cost me $953 for an hour in a Nissan Sentra. Looking at the rest of the reviews I don't believe anyone cares from corporate. We have a police report, so I guess I have to spend some time and effort to get our money back. Please get your facts right before you answer a review. Your employee attacked first and we returned the car before 2pm. Either way it's unheard of business practices to steal and then blame the customer. You and I can argue in public as much as we want, but it's probably easier to have someone above your rank make an decision of what should happen. read more

Made a reservation several days ago, when I called to pickup they were out of compacts (fine) but they tried to give me an SUV at nearly twice the price. Would not honor the reserved rate. I reached out to dollar via FB messenger and also called their 800 number and neither of those agents would honor the oxnard rate either. The two men at the counter were so nicely-nice until they realized they couldn't upsell me and had to honor the reservation that I had made through Priceline. At first they tried to say I made the reservation with too little warning for them to get a car in that price range, next that I needed to pay a higher fee for the car they did have available, and lastly that it was somehow unreasonable of me to expect them to rent me a car in the class that I had paid for through Priceline ( a midsize) . STAY AWAY SCAMMER ALERT! I was charged for an extra day even though the car was returned on time. The keys were dropped into the drop box on a Sunday, and nobody was at the desk counter. The worst part was having to practically beg and plead to get a refund, arguing with thieves is aggravating. The manager even lied saying his "camera" did not show me approaching the front desk! Blatant lie because I was there! Look at all of the reviews about this place. it's consistent. Keep your phone GPS on because you will have to prove your whereabouts. These owners are real jerks. I request the cheapest insurance but was charged for the $17.99/day Car was filthy, also windshield dirty INSIDE and outside too. WASHER FLUID in car WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY! Annoying warning message going off entire trip. Was told at drop off, "oh that's not a big deal" They did absolutely nothing to this car before I picked it up, I found trash for the previous renter WAY OVERPRICED FOR THE QUALITY GIVEN! Was told by the manager I would be taken care of when I came to drop it off, he was nowhere to be found. New guy working right away said "I'm new so there nothing I can do for you" couldn't even be explain why I was being overcharged. Manager did not call me back until after I dropped of the rental. Instead of saying I would be taken care of, manager mashir should have told me" sorry I won't be in the office but I will make sure someone will be able to assist you" NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL! After rebooking online for 3:30 pm, I faced further issues, including being charged for an unwanted upgrade. This dollar car rental office left me with one option, pay twice as much and a large deposit. I had reserved a small sprint (simular) with priceline. I had all the RSVP on my phone and confirmation. I rented for errands, no trips. The man who I first spoke with (mgr) who said they could not see anything and you have to rsvp 24 hrs in advance. This made no sense as I had shopped online for the best deal. It was for 3 days at a total of $112. total, and he said nope. The best he had totaled $156. FOR 2 days and a deposit, I might get back on Wed. I am so confused as I've never experienced this before. He blames PRICELINE, and PRICELINE said what HE did is not correct. Why is Dollar renting at the very small airport. DO NOT use Dollar unless you are willing to go through them directly as the mgr said. I am not sure why PRICELINE, EXPEDIA. BOOKING.COM and more. I wanted a spark, ended up with a V8 gas guzzler. Very disappointing. I will never go back there. read more

The folks that run this place cancelled my reservation due to me showing up 1 hour late. Note this is not standard practice as confirmed with the national office. This left me having to rent a more expensive car. That more expensive car was extremely dirty on the inside in the middle of a pandemic. Handprints on all windows, old water bottles strewn about, and children's toys under seats. I recommend choosing a different agency when renting from this Oxnard. read more
