Small update: I have had my eye on a Viofo - cam for quite a while. They can be expensive, so I waited for a sale. The particular unit that I purchased has a head unit which captures the road in front of you. It has a indoor unit that captures the cabin of your vehicle and it has a rear camera that mounts on your rear window for the back of your car. This means of course that you have the main unit, but complicates things because you now have to have wires going to two other cameras. As a side note, the indoor camera probably seems like overkill. Usually people that carry passengers like taxes or Uber with get that for safety. But let me tell you another benefit. The camera captures a very wide angle like a fisheye. What does does is and not only allows you to see what's in the cabin but also slightly out the windows. So if you happen to be driving and get sideswiped or even stop by an officer anyone comes to your window, you will be able to capture that as well. What's even better is that this camera will record in multiplex so you can see all your cameras in one footage. Let's say you have an accident and people try to say you were on the phone. With one video file you can see the outside of your car and the inside. You can use footage to prove that you weren't on your phone when the accident occurred. Biscuit also be powerful in court if an officer is accusing you of something. After my purchase online, I bought the camera and a hard wiring kit to venue Sound. I win at 1:00 in the afternoon on a Wednesday without a appointment. I was told I could get done today and they did. From start to finish it probably took about an hour and a half. I am pleased with the fit and finish. My unit is hardwired into my fuse box. The wires leading to the unit are neatly behind my roof headliner. Had a remote start installed today in my 2013 RAV 4. Was helped my Vic who was impressively knowledgeable and extremely helpful and went far beyond to explain things to me. The unit works great with my FOB but having issues with the app due to something i did and Vic stayed on phone with me and was will to wait for me to come to fix on Christmas Eve which shows me the incredible customer service they offer, I plan on adding apple car play to RAV and would not go anywhere else but to Ave Sound. So I happen to come across Avenue sound driving down sunrise Highway in Freeport. Met the owner Vic. Never in all my days. Have I dealt with someone like this. Sold me the perfect unit. Did an excellent job of installation and when I was in an accident about six months later, he walk me through the entire experience, while I was cross country and spent an enormous amount of time with me on the phone. I took my Chevy Equinox to Bical for an oil change on the morning of 2/7/25. It was completed within ninety (90) minutes, which is great! However, inside the cabin, I have a radar detector mounted to and tapped through the rear view mirror (both done by "Avenue Sound" last year). Alongside, I have a dash cam which is hardwired to the fuse box. Five minutes after I'd pulled out of Bical, my radar detector begins to shift (after resting securely for the previous thirteen months). Shortly thereafter, the dash-cam goes out, though I've just returned home. By week's end, the detector swung wildly side-to-side as I entered every turn and the dash-cam was rendered inoperable. The best ! I wanted to upgrade my new to me 2012 car. It didn't have a backup camera, and I also wanted Apple play. I stopped in at the store , Vic went through my options and even asked if I wanted it installed that day, I didn't have time to leave the car right then so we scheduled it for later in the week. My car was done by the end of the day, they took the time to show me how to use the new system, and I love it. There was a technical issue that they needed to resolve on their end,but it wasn't a huge deal so I said I would return the following week once they spoke with tech support. Brought it back in today, the technical issue was resolved and now all of the features work flawlessly. We had a stereo installed a few years ago and it had been working great in a 2003 car (Apple play capable). For some reason the ability to control the stereo from the steering wheel. We called and made an appt. Avenue Sound fixed it no problem and didn't want to collect any money from us for the fix and would not even accept a tip. The last THE LAST TIME I EVER GO HERE .. I go in to get subs installed and what a disaster my car was after. CARELESS work, UNPROFESSIONAL, sloppy and destructive work. Instead of unscrewing the panel in my trunk of the hatchback it was ripped off and broken and nobody ever said anything to me and they tried hiding it. And the next day when I tried calling them and leave a message for somebody call me back of course nobody calls me back because nobody wants to take responsibility. In addition to that in the same day as I'm driving home my glove compartment pops open because it was never installed back properly. (they claim they needed to take off the glove compartment door to install my subs go figure). I don't blame people for being human and make mistakes but not taking responsibility and at least paying for the damage that you created is an excusable and disgusting. read more

This last reply of 1 star is from May 26 IN RESPONSE to the owner- who thinks that trying to humiliate a dissatisfied customer is OK!! Disgusting- your shop is obviously no better than the ripoff company- SmartStart. If your shop thinks it's ok to take advantage of a customer as does the company that makes these useless devices, AVENUE SOUND should not be in any service oriented business. I was Well aware that AVENUE SOUND OF FREEPORT services this device until 3 - I will reiterate- any company that knows, customer service is what will make or break you. If an open store turns a client in need away - not a company deserving of anyone's business! Anyone can get your audio equipment at any number of shops. Heck, one could buy the equipment much cheaper on amazon and get the job done themselves. Seeing that your shop is supposed to be open until 8 and it was a technician who took my call - so there was someone there... and I put myself in no "condition " once again the Rip off masters - smart start- placed an incorrect violation on my device- and since they do not have to back up their service as many users of their device are at the mercy of the state - this company and yours as well - thinks it's ok to provide less customer service for that reason to the vehicles that you service for them. It's disgusting!!! And the shop that was willing to listen, and wait a few extra minutes to help a potential customer- was quite informative of exactly how awfully smart start does treat "customers " - they tell their servicers like you- to just tell anyone that is not on time or needs to adjust an appointment- to go away. Most logical business owners know that although that works Quite well for smart start - it does not apply whatsoever to you. The station that will get the return business, recommendations and thanks are the ones who take an extra 5 minuets to make sure EACH customer is helped!! What I needed - took 5MINUTES to complete. The shop that deserves accolades, was willing to wait all though I was able to get their a bit before closing. They spoke of the disgusting tactics of smart start. Telling that because they have the state contract, they get their blood money regardless of whether or not their product or service is adequate!! But a shop like theirs or yours, if you had any sense- would know that turning any customer away- especially when the service needed is a quick in and out thing- is MISTAKE #1!! They also stated that due to the awful nature of the contracted company- they no longer wanted to do business for them. INTEGRITY- definitely a quality that makes for a great business and owner and staff - that any customer will go out of their way to recommend! So once again- I would tell anyone- if an interlock is mandatory- and there is a choice - RUN FROM SMART START or risk losing a ton of money and wasting time always trying to remove their absurd Violations from damaging your liscense, pocketbook and wellbeing!! I called the Freeport store to make sure that the information regarding NO CHARGE was clear on my account- BUT NO- I was informed that although smart might have no charge , that AVENUE SOUND charged $150 To remove the device!!!!! That is ripping a customer off. You are actually NOT permitted to make your own charges up!!! So once again - thanks for making my impressions crystal clear- AVOID FREEPORT AVENUE SOUND if you expect service and honesty. I gave one star since 0 is not an option. My situation was with my car alarm, my transmitter had died in the middle of the day, and that alone made me unable to start the car. Vic was completely understanding of my situation and was able to give me a diagnosis even BEFORE reaching the car, just due to me describing the situation, and he gave me an absolute human experience, just him being understanding made me feel at ease with my emergency. They overcharge and they don't do their job well. I had a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX installed over a year ago from them and my bill was over $1100. I also had LED interior lights for $200 that don't work as well for the amount I paid. And then my airbag warning light started giving me issues for months. Turns out, they completely screwed up my airbag wiring. So what I ended up paying for everything ended up being around $2000. For the amount I paid to get the radio installed, you'd think they'd make sure EVERYTHING was in order. But NOPE!!! These guys don't know what they're doing, find a better store. I went to my dealership thinking that these wires around my brake were from the car itself. Mind you I'm thinking not because my car is brand new. So I go the dealership telling them that it needs to be fixed because I could easily get into a car accident. As I'm waiting in the waiting area a manager approaches me and says those wires that are around your brake are wires that connect to the camera you installed. He goes we can't do anything for you. So this is my story, need a new radio for the car, simple enough. went into the store, good start, had radio picked out and ready to install, sales person tells me it will take 45 mins, so I decide to wait, an hour pass, i hear nothing, go to the sales person's desk; he tells me "we are about to bring the car in" I say "in, you mean out" he says "oh no we got backed up will be another hour or so" I ask why didn't you say anything to me i have been sitting here for an hour already...his response ""oops". The worst I had a commercial van brought in for a install of a kenwood navigation dvd stereo head unit a pair of door speakers a amp and sub, they ruined a door panel, the amp blew within 14 months and my back up camera seized, I returned to them and of course out of warranty, so another bill to replace, my son had brought in a 2010 Camaro to add a sub to the stock system, amp blew and sub blew and was installed poorly with the sub bouncing around in trunk and amp falling off sub box I had a corvette brought in removed stock radio and replaced with a new radio they told me 2 hrs which turned into 6 and then telling me I needed a certain wiring harness. 3 actually 4 strikes for them never to return read more

I wanted to get a camera installed in my car. I showed them a pic of the unit and the make/model of my car. They told me that the installation would take less than an hour (but I'd be charged for the full hour-- fine, no problem). Based on this, I ordered the camera. On the day of the install, I called ahead to ensure that the quote was still valid. They said that it was. When I arrived the estimate somehow increased 100% to "at least 1.5-2 hours." Had I gone through with it, I'm sure that I would have been charged for more because of the "at least" qualifier. Red flag. So I left. I like how these stereo guys are so suspiciously bad at estimating how long work will take. If you install 20,000 car stereos, you should know how long it'll take. Somehow work ends up taking longer (costing more) than originally estimated. And somehow it's always within the legal tolerance of an estimate. If a stereo place or mechanic would just provide the actual cost of a repair, they'd make a ton of cash. Long story short: this is a typical stereo installation place where they don't mind screwing you over for a few dollars of anticipates short-term gain. This is pre-internet thinking. read more

I got an old car alarm taken out and a new one I bought from then installed. They didn't know what they were doing! It took them 6 hours (while I waited) for the alarm to be installed. They had to work past closing time. They said it would only take 2 hrs! When I tried to use the remote start the next day my car would not start! I would up having to have my car towed to the dealer since the alarm place employees didn't know what they were doing. The dealer repair shop had to rip out the new $400 and reinstall another new alarm $400 again. I never got a refund and they didn't try to remedy their mistake. I will never return.
