Purchased a 2014, 42 foot boat with electronics that are 7 years old…read more Marine stereo wasn't working and wanted to update to newer multifunction displays. Also wanted a flir night vision camera as we go fishing when it's dark. Wanted an amp that would increase depths for my fishfinders I contacted Marine Electronics two brothers and two helpers who pretty much hand the brothers tools. They arrived at my dock3 weeks after they committed to come. That was a bad sign but with covid par for the course. No foul there. So we decided we would do the following: Replace 2 mfd displays with the same brand furuno, took a couple hours plug & play Get stereo working could not fix the old fusion stereo, said the amps 2 were blown Went out got 2 amps put them in ( over a full day to do so) I provided the new fusion stereo Install a new amp for the fishfinder included in the new mfd's, told me no problem the amp would work with the new displays..... they cut off the harness to the network tried to rewire by splicing all the wires after 2 days told me the amp would not work with the new displays 2 days wasted and billed for. While they were mounting the box for the amp drilled holes through my helm station which i get to look at every time i take boat out! They put stainless screws so you just see the screws Apologized said I'll give you $300 to get it fixed!!! Told them you screwed it up you fix it. 3 phone calls 3 texts still there. The stereo blows an 80 amp fuse at the battery and only works each time I replace about 2 days. The flir installation is installed supposed to work as a split screen or a quarter screen so you can also use the screen for navigation, only works full screen so when ur driving at night have to use other screen not right in front of you. Nightmare switching back and forth The price of the flir. $3,500 unit 2-amps- $750 each unit Charged me $11,900 included fixing so many issues that they got wrong the first time. So the bottom line is i have no stereo Night vision that only works full screen If your looking for a high priced Marine Electrician that works by trial & error. These guys are for you
