Having recently acquired a new 22' BMW m340i (and now i'm broke) I was very cautious in choosing the right mechanic. I bought a Quad Tip AWE Track Exhaust that I needed to swap out for the stock exhaust. Upon arriving, Luigi was super friendly and attentive, examined my car, and then quoted me a super SUPER fair price. The job was done perfectly (Exhaust fit on right, and my old exhaust was removed carefully in case I ever wanted to swap it back in) and done fast, but with care and detail! My truck was needing brakes and I didn't want to get "hosed" at the dealer service department. So I yelped for a shop near work and High Grade popped up. Having only 22 reviews didn't seem like a lot but I know people are quick to leave negative reviews when they aren't happy but tend to forget to leave a nice one when they are satisfied. Anyway, I called and spoke to Luigui who is the manager of the shop and he made an appointment for me to bring the truck next day. When I arrived, he quickly had one of his mechanics get it on the lift and performed an visual inspection. Luckily, all looks good and he presented me with options of OEM parts as well as aftermarket. Fast forward 3 hours later, my truck is all done with new brakes, the noise is gone and I am back on the road. He gave me the bill and it was exactly as discussed. Isn't this how it should be? Unfortunately, some less honest shop will try to sell you services you don't regally need. Not here at High Grade. Last week, my battery died and I needed a jump. When it happened a second time, I brought it to High Grade for them to look at it. When they called me back, they informed me that I needed an alternator (which is apparently $650 for a 2014 Honda Accord plus labor). Before I told them to go through with it (which thankfully, I didn't), my friend's uncle suggested I bring it to STS, just a few blocks away. He had to come with me to jump the car, which High Grade refused to do, but they had no problem charging me 25 bucks on the way out. When I brought it to STS, Lou took the car in right away, and after looking at it, they told me my alternator was fine. They just needed to replace the battery, which they did. I was looking at spending $1000 bucks that day, and instead I spent $150. The car has been running fine since. There's nothing new about auto mechanics trying to scam people, but don't trust High Grade. Go to STS instead. read more

Have recently moved to New York and needed the NYState vehicle inspection. I made an appointment for this morning a few days ago and they were able to fit me in first thing this morning, Saturday. Luigi was professional, friendly and amicable. The waiting room is clean and comfortable and the inspection done promptly. I've had miss firing and hesitation issues for a while and shop after shop I had no luck with them finding the issue and getting it fixed.. I ran across High grade auto on here and gave it a chance just from the good reviews on here and I sure am glad I did Frank the owner and Luigi are very knowledgeable and we're a great help to me! I ended up needing spark plugs and a battery from having a low voltage amp it was draining my battery.. I was very pleased with the whole experience I'll be back once I get my high output alternator so they can do the job.. most IMPORTANT thing to me was that I could tell they cared and I ended up feeling like I knew these guys for years when this was just my first of many visits to come.. this will be my go to shop going forward and will recommend to friends and family.. We had been going to this repair shop for awhile, with several cars. Brought a car in for an inspection ( $35.00). Went to pick it up and they wanted $ 160.00! They said they had to test drive it and analyze it because the inspection could not go thru. We said, why didn't they call us first, because we could not afford that fee! We said we would pay the inspection fee, even though it did not go thru. They became very hostile, especially the owner. They said we could not have our car back unless we paid the $160.00! They said they didn't care how many times we came there. Just short of us calling the police, we were forced to give $80, even though it was not justified or told to us in advance! Please think twice before using this unethical repair shop. We know a lady and her daughter that got ripped off too. read more

Frank is a great guy and very honest. I have been taking my cars here for many years and they are always up front about what has to be done. I went in this morning with a screw in my tire and they told me that it did not go threw my tire and they did not charge me any money. Other places would have lied and told you that you needed a plug and some a new tire. I don't know why there is a negative review on this place. He has been in the Franklin Square Community for over 10 years and had been providing great service to everybody that comes into his place.
