Excellent customer service. I was there due to nail in tire that I bought at another Mavis and was under warranty. Customer Service made the appointment over phone. The asst mgr and mgr were both extremely helpful. My reservation wasn't called into this location properly but they took care of it quickly. To my surprise they had me in and out in approx one hour. My visit was on a Friday at lunch hour, late June. The temperature was 100 degrees. Yet both managers were friendly and service was quick. Needed tire and brakes. I had to get new rotors as well after they checked the car. I spent a good deal of money for 4 tires, 4 rotors and new brakes. The brakes made a grinding sound within the first few days. I took it back and they replaced the brake pads just after 1 week. The brakes would still occasionally make a grinding sound. After a little over a year, I took my car to a different repair shop and had to get new front rotors and brakes. Mavis sell subpar brake equipment, does shoddy work and the brake pads are beyond poor quality. Do not use Mavis and certainly not this location. read more

Now this place has a reputation for not doing the work requested. I went here 2 times, first was for an oil change. They confirmed that the oil change was done so I believed them. 1 month later the car started throwing up signs with oil change needs to be done. So I went back and told them and this time I watched them do it. The mechanic told me that it's been awhile since I changed the oil to the point that it was black. How is that possible if I changed it a month ago allegedly? After that I decided to go back give them business with doing my breaks 2 months later they are now making noise. After returning to my home town 4 hours away. I brought my car to mechanic due to vehicle still pulling to the right. I got brake rotors and pads installed at this location and was charged almost $1100 for it in Aug, 2022. Within a few months, started experiencing vibration when driving at high speeds and applying brakes. The vibration got worse and worse and to a point where it did not feel safe driving the car. Took the car to the dealer for inspection and was told that cheap non-oem parts were used for brake rotors and pads. Got new genuine parts installed by the dealer and the car run perfectly now. read more

Your company has a promo of 12 months/ 12000 parts and labor warranty. Lifetime warranty on breakpads. This promo made me to keep your company as my go to for my tires breaks services I was there August 8 2023 to put 2 new rear rotors and breakpads first of all your company charges 2 separate labor charge which honestly its the same Job for to put new rotors it's recommended to put new breakpads anyway my issue is I told your store manager that I have a lifetime warranty on breakpads he said that I don't have it so I showed him the receipt stating 12month/12000 miles Lifetime warranty on breakpads He called the branch manager who look over that store after he spoke to the manager this is what he said " 12month/12000 warranty and the lifetime warranty on breakpads only works if I the 12month and 12000 miles is not up yet which ever comes first I looked at him like your boss just made you look stupid by telling me this explanation. I let them fix my car then I called Mavis their consumer solution I told them about the issue and explain the agent acknowledged that I'm entitled for a refund but the branch manager need to call me to confirm before I can go to the store and pickup the money but I waited the whole week for the call she did not call at all so I called back Mavis again I was told the branch manager will call me but she never did!! Every reviews I've read about Mavis are all True coz I hear the same story and issue .. MY GO-TO-SHOP NOW! 3 weeks ago I ordered the tires I needed online and got a great price that way ($177 for my Mazda CX-5 OEM tires - well actually the next level up than what came with the car). Then, I booked online an appointment 3 days later for 9am at Mavis 2107 Jericho Tpke. in New Hyde Park (by the corner of Denton Ave.) They called me the next day to tell me my tires would be in and confirmed my appointment. I got there on time and they took me immediately. I needed an alignment and an Inspection and even though it wasn't part on my booking, Cliff the Manager told me they could handle it. My car was difficult to align (I had 111,000 miles and was not even sure when the last alignment was). The mechanic was great, though, and knew how to get the job done without incurring additional costs and parts. Even though they soon became very busy, Cliff made sure to check the progress and update me on it. There was an issue with the inspection but Cliff looked into it and was resolved. I used to go to the East Williston Mavis but my fav mechanic retired. I had been to this one before so I decided to check them out again. In my experience with other shops, the cost was fair and, to me, costs are secondary to excellent service and workmanship. The alignment, that was almost impossible, was done so well that my car practically drives itself. No hidden costs, no upcharges, no pressure, treated with respect and they thanked me for my business. I'm looking forward to returning this week for other long-overdue work. IMPORTANT NOTE: just tires may have been done in an hour or so, but, to fit in all that additional work it went until 2pm - however - AT ANY SHOP I would definitely have had to leave it all day long. read more

I have been going here every 6 months to swap my already mounted summer rims and tires with my winter tires. Make an appointment call to confirm what is being done, arrive early. This particular time I did the same thing however they didn't move my vehicle for 3 hours. They took walk-in customers who didn't have an appointment before pulling my vehicle in. They informed me I need new brakes, that is impossible as I had my brakes changed 8 months ago and barely drove. My mechanic just did an inspection, looked over my car and stated everything was fine. Then I go to pay my invoice, here is where it gets interesting. Since I do this every 6 months I know the cost. They tried to charge me 60% more than they charged me 6 months ago this year. When I asked for an explanation, they said well your wheels are larger and it requires more work. Considering the process is the same for ANY size tire I asked him what is the difference between a smaller tire and mine. There was no response. This used to be a very respectable location, however the recent changes in management make it, an unreliable, untrustworthy location. Find a different location! read more

INSPECTION REVIEW: Doesn't matter how great of a condition your car is in. Here, you will ALWAYS need repairs. My brakes were just done here and when I brought same car in for an inspection, they said I needed my brakes flushed and both wiper blades changed. I showed them a receipt that my wiper blades have just been changed within the same month. They argued, "well it's not cleaning well, we'll have to fail your car and you will need to pay again if you don't get it fixed". AVOID AVOID AVOID. Absolute scammers. I was like sure if it is only cost $189 I can do it. When I pick up the car today, I got charge for $189 for one wheel + brake oil, streering oil + alignment + all labor. Totally is around $1300. What in the world someone will pay $1300 for a car that is worth less than $500? I believe they are just trying to sent wrong information to their customer and bet that customer cannt do anything once they done the work. If you go to this location, you have to be extremely careful of their sales tactics. The tires prices are good- no doubt about it, however after you buy the tires and have them put on, they will then start "finding" problems with your car that need to be fixed. They pulled this act two times with me about my front struts- there was nothing wrong with them- they stated they the were leaking and needed replacement, plus they were past the "manufacturers recommended replacement period" (bingo, that is how they come up with the dire warning) which is what they pull to make you nervous. I declined both times and mentioned that I thought it was a sad scam they were trying to pull and I'm sure they catch a lot of people with that act. So- one star for tire prices, maybe another half a star for fixing flats (although not cheap they are quick) but no stars for trying to find extra repair work. I waited 1.5 hours to have a tire changed. Avoid! And be prepared for them to try to get you to spend way more money than necessary as they find a slew of "problems" with your car. Mechanic will come and ask you to "talk a walk" so he can show you what is "wrong" with your car. He will then proceed to show you some old dirty fluid they apparently recovered from your car and express dire concern about the safety if repairs are not made immediately at a hefty price. Made an appt for an inspection and the # on this location's business card called me day of to confirm. I said we had another appt for a different car and if we can schedule that appt closer to ours. The person I spoke with said it's no problem at all, didn't even warn us about possible additional wait time, made it seem like it's just walk in / walk out kind of deal, said we don't even really need the appt to begin with, etc. I asked for his name just to make sure and he said it's Harry. We got to this Mavis and the 2 guys working at the desk were just totally rude and disrespectful. Said no Harry works here and that it was a call center who called us earlier. We called the # back and it rang on their direct phone line right in front of the 2 guys...ended up being nearly 2 hours before we were even able to get our cars back because they only had ONE inspector working on a Saturday afternoon??? This place sucks. Called to confirm a tire rotation. Told them exactly when I'd be there. I get an email confirmation. I get a call while I'm on my way confirming my appointment. Show up to be told someone called out sick so they're short and can't get to my car today because they close in 40 mins. Asked me if I'd come back tomorrow. I will not be returning to this nonsense establishment. Completely wasted my time. On top of that, I ask if they use adhesive or hammer in weights to balance tires. Front desk guy tells me they don't use a hammer to balance the tires, they use a rod. He had no idea what weights they use after asking the manager that was in the mechanic bays. read more

They tried to SCAM me. I brought my car in for an inspection, car is 3 years old, 32K miles on it. I worked with Chris, the manager. He told me I needed new rear rotors, new break pads, and new wiper blades to pass inspection, and he wanted to charge me $650. When I said that didn't sound right, he brought the price down by $70. I said no way. Brought my car to another place that just does inspections and oil changes (no chance to up sell me on work needed) and my car passed inspection no problem, ended up only paying $37. AVOID THIS PLACE, not honest at all. He tried to show me the difference between the "good" and "bad" rotors. I'm not a mechanic, but from what he showed me, they seemed identical. Just like others have said... Their tire prices are cheaper than others but they will talk you into getting something else done to get extra money from you. Avoid this place, as I am never returning or reccomending them to anyone! Their service is dead slow.. I waited about 3 1/2 hrs to replace 4 tires and get power steering fluid flushed which 'I was in dire need of". While watching the guy replace tmy tires, he stopped at the third and took a half hour lunch break, then returned to slowy put on my 4th tire. The absolute worst!!! read more

I highly recommend the Taiga H/T Size P265/70R16 tires that I purchased from Mavis Discount Tire. With a proper alignment, these tires are firm and substantial. I feel very safe driving on rainy days and during the winter months. Additionally, these tires are affordable! Their price range lies in the middle of the market between cheap (definitely unsafe) and name brand tires. If you need tires, consider Taiga as they probably fit within your budget and are safe. However, I do not recommend that you buy your tires at the Mavis Discount Tire location in Garden City Park, New York. The salesclerk at the front desk is a revoltingly rude and offensive young man. He became extremely upset because I declined the option of having that store's personnel put on the tires. I chose to do so because the last couple of times that I bought tires the personnel at both places lied and did not do the alignment. The tires wore down within a few months. I found an "off the beaten path" shop that does the alignment while you wait. Nonetheless, the salesclerk did not thank me for purchasing the tires and simply said, "Your tires are outside on the ground near the first bay." He did not offer to assist me in putting them into my car. When I complained to the manager, he essentially laughed in my face. The rude young man interrupted my conversation with the manager who did nothing to correct the situation. I did not receive an apology from anyone. Accordingly, I will not return to that store because I resolutely do not patronize businesses where I do not receive due respect and good customer service. However once I got here they quickly started getting the paperwork underway and I had almost no wait time. Mavis at 2107 Jericho Tpke., on Denton Ave in NHP is a fantastic service center. My parents and I have been bringing our Honda CRV and Civic here for nearly 20 years. Recently on July 26/27, 2018, Danny and other mechanics helped me interpret vague, condescending and elitist diagnostic reports from Advantage Honda in Manhasset on my 2007 Honda CRV. Honda diagnosed my after market struts as "needing to be replaced" even though they were replaced by Mavis in March 2017. Mavis checked the struts--- they were perfect, no problems and high quality Monroe brand. They replaced ball joints, checked all alignment, brought me into the garage, showed all work they did, all parts removed and let me take pictures of all work done. They treated me as an intelligent female consumer, taught me about my car...My car was fixed and I was educated in car mechanics, to boot! read more

The day before, I was warmly greeted by Greg on the phone who made my reservation and ordered my tire....which seemed to be far too much for the OTHER Mavis location to accomplish. When I arrived, Steve and his partner (whose name I've forgotten....very sorry) were extremely nice, professional and exhibited excellent customer service towards me. The store was clean, the waiting area was comfortable, (even though I don't have children, I noticed there was an area for them to keep busy while their parents were having work done). My overall experience was pleasant, handled very professionally and without any issues. I told Steve about the problems I had at the other location and HE apologized for them, which, by the way, they never thought to do. I explained to him that he didn't need to apologize as my experience at his store was far better. He replied, "I understand but you deserve an apology." Hidden fees. Like another poster stated, they take you to the side and explain how your car is in grave danger if you don't do what they say. After taking my car to someone else, they said this was exaggerated to get a sale. I left spending more money than I should have. Be very careful when taking your car there. I had tires mounted on 4 new rims which I had polished the day before going to mavis. Got the car back and didn't notice that all 4 rims had scratches that ran all around the edge of the rims. Went back and they denied that they were responsible even the corporate office took the employees side. Had to go back to fix alignment as well. I think they have poor training and don't take responsibility for they're mistakes. Bottom line spend money and now I have 4 badly scratched tires. Would not advise anyone to go there...
