ZERO stars. Wasted my time, completely incompetent performance. I brought a tire damaged from road hazard for repair (purchased the set there, last year) on a Friday. The tire was ruined, ordered new tire with 9am appt for the following Sunday. After trying to sell me $2000 of additional repairs, I asked the rep/mgr SEVERAL times if my appt is confirmed. He assured me yes. I confirmed again that I'll be taken at 9am. He actually said "The work order is in, the tire is ordered, it will be here Saturday. I arrive Sunday, no tire.No work order. I then had to wait for manager who was late to work. One guy was looking for my tire, mgr staring at his screen. I asked him "have you found the work order?" I'm looking, he says. I suggested to look at the previous day's delivery invoice. After more Wasted time I told them I know the tire is not here and nothing in the system. What happened to all these assurances after you confirmed 4 times? Received their fake apologies and offer of slight discount for Mon ( I was done with GCP Mavis and was driving on the donut) Because of their incompetence and indifference, I wasted my entire Sunday tracking down a tire and service. I am never giving this place the chance to screw with my safety, my time or to aggravate me like this again. Remember, there are MULTIPLE tire centers in the NHP, FR SQ, FL PK area. Choose carefully. Check reviews. read more

If I can give them 0 stars I would. Do your self a favor and avoid them at all cost. They sold me a bad tire and after 3 days I came back and they said they couldn't help me. Extreme bad service and rude. Stay away from this place. read more

Formal Complaint and Incident Report Regarding Mavis Discount Tire Location - Alleged Unethical and Fraudulent Behavior To Whom It May Concern, This letter serves as a formal report concerning an incident that occurred at the Mavis Discount Tire location at 2107 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park, NY 11040. The conduct of the staff--particularly the store manager, Brad--was not only unprofessional but raises serious ethical and potentially legal concerns regarding customer treatment and the mishandling of merchandise. On 04/04/25, I arrived at the aforementioned location for a scheduled tire installation appointment. The tires had been ordered through Amazon as part of their tire installation service, and tracking information confirmed that both tires were delivered to the shop via UPS three days prior. Upon my arrival, store manager Brad informed me that only one tire could be found and that the second tire was missing. He refused to take responsibility for the lost merchandise and instructed me to contact Amazon to resolve the issue. Amazon, in turn, requested a police report to proceed with a claim, as the tire had been confirmed delivered. However, when I asked Brad to speak with Amazon's customer service agent to help clarify the situation, he grabbed my phone and abruptly hung up, demonstrating aggressive and disrespectful behavior. Brad then claimed he would arrange for another tire to be shipped from a nearby Mavis location to fulfill the installation. However, within minutes, the so-called "missing" tire mysteriously reappeared, and the staff began installing it without further explanation. This behavior indicates a deliberate attempt to mislead both the customer and Amazon, and strongly suggests that the store may have been attempting to divert or withhold merchandise for unknown purposes. The entire incident, including the manager's misconduct and the sudden reappearance of the tire, was recorded on video and is in my possession. Given the severity of this matter, I intend to escalate this complaint to the following parties: Executive leadership of Mavis Discount Tire Amazon Customer Relations and Corporate Legal Department Nassau County District Attorney's Office New York State Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau Better Business Bureau (BBB) This incident goes beyond poor customer service--it raises serious concerns about potential fraud, mishandling of delivered goods, and consumer deception. I strongly advise Amazon and Mavis Discount Tire to investigate this location and hold responsible parties accountable. Consumers deserve transparency, honesty, and basic respect--none of which were demonstrated in this experience. read more

DO NOT go to this location, NICK has a bad attitude and should be fired. He told me on the phone that I a would get a good price on 3 tires after I had purchased just one a month earlier due to a blow-out. When I got there and asked for the price it was $70 more per tire (in a month) - he was argumentative and I left. Secret to all tire buyers - use COSTCO - I got the 3 new tires for less than the Mavis price a month earlier. read more

I have been a customer of Mavis for many years on 2109 Jericho Tpke garden city park. Nigel is very knowledgeable and amazing customer service. He is kind and patient and will always look for the best deal for you. Truly a caring person read more

Needed tire and brakes. I had to get new rotors as well after they checked the car. I spent a good deal of money for 4 tires, 4 rotors and new brakes. The brakes made a grinding sound within the first few days. I took it back and they replaced the brake pads just after 1 week. The brakes would still occasionally make a grinding sound. After a little over a year, I took my car to a different repair shop and had to get new front rotors and brakes. Mavis sell subpar brake equipment, does shoddy work and the brake pads are beyond poor quality. Do not use Mavis and certainly not this location. read more

Now this place has a reputation for not doing the work requested. I went here 2 times, first was for an oil change. They confirmed that the oil change was done so I believed them. 1 month later the car started throwing up signs with oil change needs to be done. So I went back and told them and this time I watched them do it. The mechanic told me that it's been awhile since I changed the oil to the point that it was black. How is that possible if I changed it a month ago allegedly? After that I decided to go back give them business with doing my breaks 2 months later they are now making noise. Again I don't know how this is possible. If they are not gonna do the job requested what's the point of offering the service and paying the money for it. read more

Came in for tires, told manager which brand. 4 hours later I have mavis band tires which were NOT the brand I choose. Also paid for an alignment which was never done. And the manager after my car is brought out, spent 30. Minutes talking about Star Trek to a customer, while the manager has my paperwork in his hands. 3rd manager tells me my brake pads look worn and that I should do my brakes.. After returning to my home town 4 hours away. I brought my car to mechanic due to vehicle still pulling to the right. Paid to have a alignment done AND my mechanic tells me " Nah them brake pads I replaced 3 months ago look as fresh as the day he installed then" I should've ran outta there when I heard a father complaining they gave his daughter expired tires.. read more

I got brake rotors and pads installed at this location and was charged almost $1100 for it in Aug, 2022. Within a few months, started experiencing vibration when driving at high speeds and applying brakes. The vibration got worse and worse and to a point where it did not feel safe driving the car. Took the car to the dealer for inspection and was told that cheap non-oem parts were used for brake rotors and pads. Got new genuine parts installed by the dealer and the car run perfectly now. read more

Nigel and the guys was great. Check out the problem and fix it. Happy with the outcome and would like to coming back again

So I had a situation where I had a gash in my tire, and I needed it fixed right away. I called Mavis and spoke with Bobby, I explained that I was concerned that i could have a blow out... Bobby said to bring it right over... so I did and they fixed everything in a timely fashion... totally professional! read more

Went to have my oil changed and tire rotation. When I got home I realized the tires were in the same position and I asked to mechanic ( or whatever you want to call him) if the tires were good. He said yes and he filled them to the right pressure. He didn't even do that. Now I'm wondering if the oil is even changed. Can't trust them anymore. read more

I usually deal with the dealer, but I had a blowout and decided to purchase 4 new tires. of course, the balance of tires should be free with the purchase and it was! I purchased a wheel alignment another 90 dollars I swear this car is not safe it pulled to the right and on a small turn my wheel went completely around...yikes!!!! And the car is basically new (LAWSUITE) So, I'm going back to have them address this loose wheel alignment, will update!!!! read more

I have been going here every 6 months to swap my already mounted summer rims and tires with my winter tires. Make an appointment call to confirm what is being done, arrive early. This particular time I did the same thing however they didn't move my vehicle for 3 hours. They took walk-in customers who didn't have an appointment before pulling my vehicle in. They informed me I need new brakes, that is impossible as I had my brakes changed 8 months ago and barely drove. My mechanic just did an inspection, looked over my car and stated everything was fine. Then I go to pay my invoice, here is where it gets interesting. Since I do this every 6 months I know the cost. They tried to charge me 60% more than they charged me 6 months ago this year. When I asked for an explanation, they said well your wheels are larger and it requires more work. Considering the process is the same for ANY size tire I asked him what is the difference between a smaller tire and mine. There was no response. This used to be a very respectable location, however the recent changes in management make it, an unreliable, untrustworthy location. Find a different location! read more

I've been a customer for 2 years and to be honest your company deserves every bad reviews for most of them are true I'm only going to say one issue that I experienced although there's like 3 issues but this issue really put a lid into it. Your company has a promo of 12 months/ 12000 parts and labor warranty. Lifetime warranty on breakpads. This promo made me to keep your company as my go to for my tires breaks services I was there August 8 2023 to put 2 new rear rotors and breakpads first of all your company charges 2 separate labor charge which honestly its the same Job for to put new rotors it's recommended to put new breakpads anyway my issue is I told your store manager that I have a lifetime warranty on breakpads he said that I don't have it so I showed him the receipt stating 12month/12000 miles Lifetime warranty on breakpads He called the branch manager who look over that store after he spoke to the manager this is what he said " 12month/12000 warranty and the lifetime warranty on breakpads only works if I the 12month and 12000 miles is not up yet which ever comes first I looked at him like your boss just made you look stupid by telling me this explanation. I let them fix my car then I called Mavis their consumer solution I told them about the issue and explain the agent acknowledged that I'm entitled for a refund but the branch manager need to call me to confirm before I can go to the store and pickup the money but I waited the whole week for the call she did not call at all so I called back Mavis again I was told the branch manager will call me but she never did!! Every reviews I've read about Mavis are all True coz I hear the same story and issue .. MY GO-TO-SHOP NOW! 3 weeks ago I ordered the tires I needed online and got a great price that way ($177 for my Mazda CX-5 OEM tires - well actually the next level up than what came with the car). Then, I booked online an appointment 3 days later for 9am at Mavis 2107 Jericho Tpke. in New Hyde Park (by the corner of Denton Ave.) They called me the next day to tell me my tires would be in and confirmed my appointment. I got there on time and they took me immediately. I needed an alignment and an Inspection and even though it wasn't part on my booking, Cliff the Manager told me they could handle it. My car was difficult to align (I had 111,000 miles and was not even sure when the last alignment was). The mechanic was great, though, and knew how to get the job done without incurring additional costs and parts. Even though they soon became very busy, Cliff made sure to check the progress and update me on it. There was an issue with the inspection but Cliff looked into it and was resolved. I used to go to the East Williston Mavis but my fav mechanic retired. I had been to this one before so I decided to check them out again. In my experience with other shops, the cost was fair and, to me, costs are secondary to excellent service and workmanship. The alignment, that was almost impossible, was done so well that my car practically drives itself. No hidden costs, no upcharges, no pressure, treated with respect and they thanked me for my business. I'm looking forward to returning this week for other long-overdue work. IMPORTANT NOTE: just tires may have been done in an hour or so, but, to fit in all that additional work it went until 2pm - however - AT ANY SHOP I would definitely have had to leave it all day long. read more

Avoid this Mavis in New Hyde park, I was 7 hours for changing the brakes and they charged me more than $ 300 in labor, they had my car up for more than 6 hours without touching it, and at no time did they intend to work on it, they are dishonest people . Avoid taking your car to that place read more

If you go to this location, you have to be extremely careful of their sales tactics. The tires prices are good- no doubt about it, however after you buy the tires and have them put on, they will then start "finding" problems with your car that need to be fixed. They pulled this act two times with me about my front struts- there was nothing wrong with them- they stated they the were leaking and needed replacement, plus they were past the "manufacturers recommended replacement period" (bingo, that is how they come up with the dire warning) which is what they pull to make you nervous. I declined both times and mentioned that I thought it was a sad scam they were trying to pull and I'm sure they catch a lot of people with that act. So- one star for tire prices, maybe another half a star for fixing flats (although not cheap they are quick) but no stars for trying to find extra repair work. I would absolutely get a second opinion before having anything repaired at this location. read more

INSPECTION REVIEW: Doesn't matter how great of a condition your car is in. Here, you will ALWAYS need repairs. My brakes were just done here and when I brought same car in for an inspection, they said I needed my brakes flushed and both wiper blades changed. I showed them a receipt that my wiper blades have just been changed within the same month. They argued, "well it's not cleaning well, we'll have to fail your car and you will need to pay again if you don't get it fixed". AVOID AVOID AVOID. Absolute scammers. This place should not be NYS certified. read more

NEVER GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANNA BE RIPPED OFF I wish I check yelp to read someone's review about this store before I head over. Unfortunately, I did not. I got totally ripped off today for ending up paying $1300 for just doing my new york state inspection. As usually, I made an appointment for my new york state inspection. I got phone call from them after dropping off my car that they told me something wrong with my suspension system that is better to replace it and they tried to sell me by saying they can give me some discount for buy 3 get one free for $220 something down to $189. I was like sure if it is only cost $189 I can do it. When I pick up the car today, I got charge for $189 for one wheel + brake oil, streering oil + alignment + all labor. Totally is around $1300. What in the world someone will pay $1300 for a car that is worth less than $500? I believe they are just trying to sent wrong information to their customer and bet that customer cannt do anything once they done the work. Again, warning for everyone if you do not want to be ripped off, Do not go there. read more

I waited 1.5 hours to have a tire changed. Avoid! And be prepared for them to try to get you to spend way more money than necessary as they find a slew of "problems" with your car. Mechanic will come and ask you to "talk a walk" so he can show you what is "wrong" with your car. He will then proceed to show you some old dirty fluid they apparently recovered from your car and express dire concern about the safety if repairs are not made immediately at a hefty price. Nevertheless, they fixed my tire, so 2 stars! read more

This place sucks. Called to confirm a tire rotation. Told them exactly when I'd be there. I get an email confirmation. I get a call while I'm on my way confirming my appointment. Show up to be told someone called out sick so they're short and can't get to my car today because they close in 40 mins. Asked me if I'd come back tomorrow. I will not be returning to this nonsense establishment. Completely wasted my time. On top of that, I ask if they use adhesive or hammer in weights to balance tires. Front desk guy tells me they don't use a hammer to balance the tires, they use a rod. He had no idea what weights they use after asking the manager that was in the mechanic bays. read more

Just like others have said... Their tire prices are cheaper than others but they will talk you into getting something else done to get extra money from you. Avoid this place, as I am never returning or reccomending them to anyone! Their service is dead slow.. I waited about 3 1/2 hrs to replace 4 tires and get power steering fluid flushed which 'I was in dire need of". While watching the guy replace tmy tires, he stopped at the third and took a half hour lunch break, then returned to slowy put on my 4th tire. The absolute worst!!! read more

They tried to SCAM me. I brought my car in for an inspection, car is 3 years old, 32K miles on it. I worked with Chris, the manager. He told me I needed new rear rotors, new break pads, and new wiper blades to pass inspection, and he wanted to charge me $650. When I said that didn't sound right, he brought the price down by $70. I said no way. Brought my car to another place that just does inspections and oil changes (no chance to up sell me on work needed) and my car passed inspection no problem, ended up only paying $37. AVOID THIS PLACE, not honest at all. He tried to show me the difference between the "good" and "bad" rotors. I'm not a mechanic, but from what he showed me, they seemed identical. I highly recommend the Taiga H/T Size P265/70R16 tires that I purchased from Mavis Discount Tire. With a proper alignment, these tires are firm and substantial. I feel very safe driving on rainy days and during the winter months. Additionally, these tires are affordable! Their price range lies in the middle of the market between cheap (definitely unsafe) and name brand tires. If you need tires, consider Taiga as they probably fit within your budget and are safe. However, I do not recommend that you buy your tires at the Mavis Discount Tire location in Garden City Park, New York. The salesclerk at the front desk is a revoltingly rude and offensive young man. He became extremely upset because I declined the option of having that store's personnel put on the tires. I chose to do so because the last couple of times that I bought tires the personnel at both places lied and did not do the alignment. The tires wore down within a few months. I found an "off the beaten path" shop that does the alignment while you wait. Nonetheless, the salesclerk did not thank me for purchasing the tires and simply said, "Your tires are outside on the ground near the first bay." He did not offer to assist me in putting them into my car. When I complained to the manager, he essentially laughed in my face. The rude young man interrupted my conversation with the manager who did nothing to correct the situation. I did not receive an apology from anyone. Accordingly, I will not return to that store because I resolutely do not patronize businesses where I do not receive due respect and good customer service. I suggest you consider other Mavis Discount Tire locations which I hope does not suffer from the personnel and management challenges as the one in Garden City Park, New York does. Sincerely, Victor S. read more

I came here in a pinch to get an inspection done ASAP. I had stopped at 2 other places beforehand both asking me to come back later or another day completely. However once I got here they quickly started getting the paperwork underway and I had almost no wait time. Mavis at 2107 Jericho Tpke., on Denton Ave in NHP is a fantastic service center. My parents and I have been bringing our Honda CRV and Civic here for nearly 20 years. Recently on July 26/27, 2018, Danny and other mechanics helped me interpret vague, condescending and elitist diagnostic reports from Advantage Honda in Manhasset on my 2007 Honda CRV. Honda diagnosed my after market struts as "needing to be replaced" even though they were replaced by Mavis in March 2017. Mavis checked the struts--- they were perfect, no problems and high quality Monroe brand. They replaced ball joints, checked all alignment, brought me into the garage, showed all work they did, all parts removed and let me take pictures of all work done. They treated me as an intelligent female consumer, taught me about my car...My car was fixed and I was educated in car mechanics, to boot! read more

After dealing with the sub-par treatment I experienced at another Mavis location, I went to this store for my new tire. The day before, I was warmly greeted by Greg on the phone who made my reservation and ordered my tire....which seemed to be far too much for the OTHER Mavis location to accomplish. When I arrived, Steve and his partner (whose name I've forgotten....very sorry) were extremely nice, professional and exhibited excellent customer service towards me. The store was clean, the waiting area was comfortable, (even though I don't have children, I noticed there was an area for them to keep busy while their parents were having work done). My overall experience was pleasant, handled very professionally and without any issues. I told Steve about the problems I had at the other location and HE apologized for them, which, by the way, they never thought to do. I explained to him that he didn't need to apologize as my experience at his store was far better. He replied, "I understand but you deserve an apology." Well, Happy New Year to us all, this location will be my go-to store from now on. Thank you all very much!! read more

Hidden fees. Like another poster stated, they take you to the side and explain how your car is in grave danger if you don't do what they say. After taking my car to someone else, they said this was exaggerated to get a sale. I left spending more money than I should have. But overcharging is every mechanic/tire place, so you're kind of screwed. So I guess go here, because at least they have a big name attached to them. read more

Made an appt for an inspection and the # on this location's business card called me day of to confirm. I said we had another appt for a different car and if we can schedule that appt closer to ours. The person I spoke with said it's no problem at all, didn't even warn us about possible additional wait time, made it seem like it's just walk in / walk out kind of deal, said we don't even really need the appt to begin with, etc. I asked for his name just to make sure and he said it's Harry. We got to this Mavis and the 2 guys working at the desk were just totally rude and disrespectful. Said no Harry works here and that it was a call center who called us earlier. We called the # back and it rang on their direct phone line right in front of the 2 guys...ended up being nearly 2 hours before we were even able to get our cars back because they only had ONE inspector working on a Saturday afternoon??? Be very careful when taking your car there. I had tires mounted on 4 new rims which I had polished the day before going to mavis. Got the car back and didn't notice that all 4 rims had scratches that ran all around the edge of the rims. Went back and they denied that they were responsible even the corporate office took the employees side. Had to go back to fix alignment as well. I think they have poor training and don't take responsibility for they're mistakes. Bottom line spend money and now I have 4 badly scratched tires. Would not advise anyone to go there... Updating review: called the number provided by Sharon T. And it's the same number to the people I was dealing with.
