11Nov2024 Hello: I cannot say enough about the workmanship, professionalism, courteous treatment received today when I brought my 2012 Buick Verano in for an issue I was having with the Thermostat. I was greeted by Gary and Michael. I explained my issue. Immediately, Michael told me what was going to be involved and the approximate cost. When I returned to pickup my car, they had installed a new AC DELCO THERMOSTAT and GASKET. They pressure checked the coolant system for leaks. BEWARE!!!!!! I went to this auto repair shop for a vehicle inspection, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The manager/owner was extremely rude. Instead of treating customers with courtesy and professionalism, I felt dismissed and spoken to in an unprofessional manner. I went to this auto repair shop for a vehicle inspection, and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The manager/owner was rude and disrespectful. While I was waiting, I noticed the employees standing around talking and the owner even came out to ride an electric skateboard in the front of the shop, so I politely asked if the technician had finished the oil change on the car ahead of me. Instead of answering my question professionally, the manager/owner told me I could "stay or go." I found his response dismissive and unprofessional. As a customer, I was simply trying to understand how much longer the wait would be. A little courtesy and communication go a long way, but I didn't receive either during my visit. Based on this experience, I would not return and cannot recommend this shop. I went to Central Valley Auto Repair which is three blocks down on 234 N. Central Ave. Better service. Nick's Auto was a reputable shop for many years under the original owner, John. I have been going to this service station exclusively since 1987. I have always had the greatest service. it has changed hands many times. Each owner great, until now. It has recently been taken over by someone named BoBo. Totally disrespectful of peoples time. Horrible communicator. Money grubber. Took my car at 8:30 am. I called at 5:25 pm only to be told it won't be ready till the morning. Avoid this business till BoBo is gone. read more

I've gone to Nick's in the past for inspection under the previous owner but the current owner is a dishonest creep. I brought in my car for inspection because I live two blocks away (I'm a woman so he probably felt he could pull a fast one). He then called me to tell me my car failed inspection because the rotors and pads were completely worn which was BS because I had recently brought the car to my regular service provider who mentioned they were in the yellow zone but didn't need to be changed for a while. I declined the brake service at Nick's and when I got there, he had removed my old inspection sticker and had an invoice ready for the brakes and inspection - $750! I guess he wanted to make it difficult for me to drive away forcing me to pay him to do the brake work. He was very arrogant and rude. Luckily, I was able to bring the car to my regular service provider to perform the inspection who also confirmed the car shouldn't have failed inspection due to brakes. read more

I really want to leave a good review but I can't mike did an inspection and failed me because of my check engine light because I have a misfire on cyl 2 which is completely understandable what mike failed to tell me was that my brakes were going bad aswell as my left side caliper being cracked causing me to loose breaks while driving also failed to mention the insides of my tiers were going bald i must have had my dodge ram back and forth to him 4 times in the matter of 3 months 3 times of which was with help of a tow truck. mike is very friendly but don't let that fool you DO NOT USE NICKS read more

Nick's Auto was a reputable shop for years until the owner John sold the shop and retired. Under new ownership the shop ran the same until the mechanics, that had been there for years left, due to the unscrupulous business practices. Unfortunately in the past year when they changed the shop manager (the new manager is Michael) things got even worse. You know the old saying "don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining", well they piss on your back. The most recent and final incident occurred about 6 weeks ago, when my car was there and got hit by the dumpster. I happened by to see the bumper on the ground, a fender missing and the rear corner panel crushed. They didn't call, I just happened by as I wondering why the car was not mechanically repaired or bought by one of their mechanics as we discussed. They BS'd me for weeks. They sent the car to a reputable body shop in Valley Stream where it sat for two more weeks as they would not authorize the repairs ( a shop they sent the car to). The car was then moved to another shop. When I received the car back the paint does not match. I got the "we did the best we could". They actually did it the cheapest they could... The mechanics are subpar and the manager is a more of a used car salesman and not very knowledgeable. With dozens of shops in the area I would suggest you think before you trust them with your car...Over priced and under worked if you know what I mean...RUN as far away as you can... read more

I knew the previous owner of this repair shop for nearly 50 years so when John retired I wanted to give the new owners a chance. Just had an old battery die on me and I let them get me a new battery and install it. They charged me roughly $177 for a battery that is retailing for $125 at several online stores. They also charged an extra $50 to install it, plus tax on all of it. Nearly $250 just to replace a battery and, let's be clear that, this was not an AGM type of batt. They made more of a profit on the sale of the part than they did on the installation since they had to pay their mechanic to install it. They offered no reasonable explanation for the high pricing. For a mom & pop local repair shop, I don't care for that way of doing business. I'll rate them as fair (2 stars) since they still behaved in a polite and semi-professional manner with me, even though I was clearly PO'd (Nomie's wife and also Michael were both very nice and respectful to me otherwise). But, honestly I still feel stabbed in the back. I'm afraid to go back and ask for help with my tranny troubles because I feel i can't trust them to give me fair pricing. read more

NOT AS GOOD WITHOUT JOHN. HAVE TO FIND A NEW HONEST MECHANIC. I had been a customer of Nick's (John) for over 10 years... back when it was a gas station at the old location. He NEVER tried to scam me or overcharge me as a female. This is hard to find in a mechanic. I had high hopes when he introduced me to the new owner, Jason, but unfortunately, he did not live up to the example set by the previous owner. I went for an inspection and oil change on my 2020 Jeep. When he called to say I needed 3 new tires with a $917 estimate, I asked him to just do the oil change for now. When he said, "Let's just charge the $917 on your card and you can come back another day for the work," I knew I needed to get a new estimate. I picked up my car from Jason and found that one of my windshield wipers had been nearly ripped completely off while it was in his shop. I know this because it rained on my way home the night before, and I used them without any issues. He agreed to replace it, but when I went back, he had a HORRIBLE attitude and rudeness, saying he was doing me the favor by replacing the wiper and matching it to the other wiper... CRAZY because it was destroyed by his shop. It's something the courts call "being made whole." When I told him I was getting tires for $300 less than his quote, he called me a liar and said he'd like to see that receipt... so here you are, sir. The receipt for the work I got done elsewhere and saved $300. read more

This station has been in business for many years. I switched to them when the nearby station I was using went out of business. I have found them to be very professional and extremely friendly and cordial all the time. The short fellow who greets you when you come in is always smiling and cheerful, and the mechanics are always thorough in their work, and take the time to explain every repair that's needed, calling you if they find anything that wasn't originally diagnosed. The prices are very fair, and they never try to get you to have extra preventative work done that isn't needed. Not really a fan of this place at all! When I bought my car I also made sure I had insurance for the tires since I'm prone to nails and flats. So the first time that I had a nail they took the insurance and fixed it right away! The next couple times they kept denying that they ever took the insurance and wouldn't do it for me. I moved out here two years ago and was very nervous to go to a new mechanic. I've been there several times (I even get my gas from them) and I have been nothing but impressed. They fix all the issues I told them about, address concerns, explain what things do and why. I don't have to ask many questions and they never try to do work on this truck that isn't needed or try to sell me something that doesn't make sense. Oh yeah, and they are reasonably priced!They are all very nice and always a pleasure to speak with them. The mechanics are professionals, they know what they are doing and you never see anyone slacking off. I can't say enough about this place. John and his crew are the best! Driving from San Diego to New York on vacation, the last thing you want is to lose power to the engine while heading down the freeway, accompanied by an ominous clunk clunk clunk sound coming from under the hood. The AAA guy who towed by car recommended Nick's Service Center, and I think my car must have known where it would get the attention it deserved. John (the owner) diagnosed the car overnight and explained what had happened in a way that even I could understand. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and fair. He charged me WAY less than any service center I've ever been to for all the work he did on my car. My car is now running better than it has in years. Now I don't have to think about buying a new car for at least 6-8 more years! Thank you, John for being there when I broke down, and for taking such good care of me and my car. Stumbled upon this Service Center accidentally. My car started to malfunction on my way to work and I had no choice but to pull over to the nearest gas station and it turned out to be this place. They have a gas pump and service center. How lucky?! I have a very limited knowledge about cars but they explained everything and prices were reasonable. Service was fast as well. I have dealt with other service centers in the past and this by far is my favorite. I definitely recommend this place and actually would see myself coming back here if something goes wrong with my car. read more

It's the end of the month and my wife's car needs an inspection. I came in and was told that I'd have to wait a while before they can put me on. I said OK, at least they didn't reject my business. I know at this time of the month, most service stations don't wanna do inspections. I thought I'd have to wait for at least a couple of hours but to my surprise I only waited for about 45 minutes. My trusted mechanic moved to Texas and thank God I found this one. It's a family owned business since 1965.
