Not only was it more than $500 cheaper, they said the job could wait. I checked periodically, and 3 months later I finally had my front and back brakes replaced at a great price. Today, (Monday morning), I woke up to my car headlights being on and could not turn them off. I attempted to get the car into my dealership (8:30 call to service department, left message and then drove over to dealership at 10:15) but they were so busy and could not give me an appointment until Thursday morning. I drove over to Wonderama. I didn't have to wait too long. They got the lights off and ordered a part which they should have tomorrow to fix the problem. Ed, the owner is delightful to work with as are his employees who are all knowledgeable and kind. Make sure you check this place out for all your car service needs. I don't expect to be using my car's dealership for any more repairs

I've been a satisfied customer of 5 Star Collision/The Collision Star and/or Merrick Road Collision since approximately 2009. I've brought each of my MASSAPEQUA LEXUS 2010 LS 460; my 2015 BMW X5; my 2016 BMW 750 iL XDrive and now my 2020 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER XLE at least once, if not more times to these great bodyshops. (Please note, all of my cars were hit/dinged by other folks!). There's a reason so many dealerships send their scratched/dinged cars here....THEIR WORK IS AWESOME AND TOTALLY METICULOUS!!! I totally trust Roy and his crew 1,000%. I drop off my cars; Miss Lisa arranges with Lynbrook Enterprise for a pickup from the Shop; I'm in a rental, and honestly never even give my damaged new cars a second thought. Roy 'n Lisa, from time-to-time, give me updates, just to keep me in the loop. I'm cognizant of the fact that these great people (Roy; Lisa; Curtis; Bobby, etc., etc., deal with Insurance adjusters; parts distributors et al. while making sure my new cars get nothing but new parts, and the same factory paint color that I originally picked out. Dave recently solved a nagging but known problem with my son's '15 Infiniti Q40. The car would take on water every time there was a steady rain. My son had taken his car to several mechanics but the problem was never resolved. Apparently the leak was a known problem with Infiniti's sunroof drain system. The outlet would easily get clogged by dirt and falling debris. Rather than simply blowing out the dirt and debris with a water or air hose like the other mechanics my son used, Dave was the only one who thought outside the box and re-ran the sunroof drain lines from both sides of the sun roof and connected the two hoses into one using a T valve and running the one single drainage hose out the car via the AC outlet. Happy to report that it's been 6 or 7 months now and the car which is parked uncovered in my driveway full-time, is now bone dry even after some very heaviest days of rain.

I reached out the next day and Arthur accused me that I did the damage overnight and I'm bringing it back on him. I was shocked by his angry & unprofessional response, especially since he said he guarantees his work. He said he would try to buff it out, and well, that didn't help. I took it to another body shop to have it looked at. I was told they painted the entire quarter panel which extended beyond the damage to try blend it in. Which created more imperfections and blistering. For the amount he charged I expected quality work and didn't receive it. Learn from my mistake, don't pay cash and look at it under a bright light and so you can see the true quality of work.

I didn't care for their service for a number of reasons, although they seem to get only good reviews from locals. Maybe I'm surrounded by masochists and suckers. The alternator died on my birthday, taking the battery from the same garage with it. I tried not to let it ruin the day but it turned the event into a frustrating towing tour of garages in the queens area, a stay at a mirrored ceilinged room in a themed motor inn that became an obsession. (I have to get the room with the heart shaped hot tub pictured in the brochure and I will feel vindicated, the fool foolishly said in his darkened heart, unaware that apparently this room doesn't exist. And hasn't since 1996.) AAA roadside automated phone marathons kept things lively until we realized we had an alternator problem and the alternator had about a week left on the warranty. So my birthday became a catalyst that ended in a garage that I disliked and would never have gone back to, but it was going to be free work vs. the insane quotes some other garages were quoting. The AAA tow guy dropped off the busted down SUV for them to begin work on and they picked it up the following day. One week later and they've talked my girl into all new brakes and other brake related parts promising it's done you can pick it up tomorrow only to discover a new problem before it came time to pick it up. How can you miss that there's a broken axle when you're doing the brakes? How can an alternator covered under warranty become a 1600$ week long event? And when I went to pick up the car the guy tells me he did the alternator for free like it was a favor. It was under warranty and your shop installed it. Not to mention they wouldn't print up a copy of the brakes or new alternator warranty and the invoice for the brake work was all listed as having been done the same day I picked it up, but it had been a week. They closed on weekends. So we got a call Friday late afternoon saying they needed to do more work on it and then nothing. Closed Saturday. Closed Sunday. Tried to sell me on this broken back axle job but I wasn't having it. Just wanted to take it and go. So to make a longer story short and get to the reason I'm writing this in the first place, we had taken the SUV into another shop a year ago when the catalytic converter fell off. We thought it was bandits but bandits don't exist anymore. They've been replaced by morons who get together in one car with dealer plates and steal catalytic converters in Queens while people sleep. Whatever it was the garage we went to was Great Bear. I don't remember much about it but I can say that when we called today, the man we talked to, who was the owner was very helpful and told us to come down and he'd look at it for no charge and tell us what was up with the back axle and other problems we were being told was wrong with the car. So we went and they did as promised and didn't charge a dime and when they were done with it and brought it down off the lift, they told us there was nothing wrong with the back axle or anything else. Didn't try to sell us anything no pressure, and despite the fact that we weren't even at the location where the owner was, they still honored his promise, just honest guys who know the value of a man and keeping a man's word. They saved us close to a grand which is what we were quoted by this other garage to fix a problem that didn't exist. So I recommend Great Bear Auto & Body Shop 4701 Kissena Blvd Queens NY 11355 or any of their other shops. Thanks again.
