Nikki did my gel fill for my manicure and Lisa worked on my pedicure. I made my appt last min and booked for at the end of day at 430pm, but the staff was nice about my urgent needs. On top of that, I was indecisive about the colors I wanted for both my mani and pedi, but they were so patient with me while I tried different colors, even though i landed on matching set. I also chose the luxury spa to try the jelly experience. Basically, I tried new things today and had a million questions and they were both so patient with me and still the service remained top tier. I felt taken care of. Nothing was rushed and I enjoyed our conversation :) they really paid special attention to me and I needed this relaxation time, which they knew I needed. Even before I got seated, Nikki, one of the people who worked there had set up the massage chair in which I was assigned to sit. From there, she had helped me get comfortable with everything--I only did a package for a pedicure, but she checked up on me as much as she can; from checking in with me to see if the towels/rocks were too hot, or if I was ticklish (I was, so she made the initiative to do a little and stopped from there). I had such a great experience at Avalon Nail Bar in Long Beach! First of all, the location is perfect, there's plenty of parking, plus lots of shopping nearby and great restaurants to check out before or after your appointment. The salon itself is extremely clean and well kept. Even the restroom was spotless and very spacious, which I always appreciate. One detail I loved was the soft lighting under the sink, such a cool and modern touch that really adds to the ambiance. The massage chairs during the pedicure were amazing and made the whole experience extra relaxing. Their prices are standard, and if you want to upgrade your pedicure with special add-ons, it's very reasonable. They accept both cash and card (there's a $2 fee for card payments), and you can conveniently add your tip to your card as well. For a Saturday afternoon, they were friendly, fast, and efficient without making the service feel rushed. Overall, a five-star experience, I'll definitely be back! read more

From first impressions, the salon was very clean and the front desk receptionist was very kind.Thu the nail tech offered me a fresh beverage and greeted me with a smile. I changed my color last minute and Thu had a wonderful suggestion, CAT EYE. Evon always does a fantastic job on my nails. Evon gets 5 stars. However, the new lady they have as receptionist is horrible. I booked an appointment for 4pm. I waited 30 mins. Only to be told that Evon was overbooked and that I would have to wait for another day. This is the 2nd time something like this happens when making an appointment. Aside from always messing up appointments she is very rude and aggressive. Definitely needs to be taught customer service skills. Overall, a great salon. I usually come here for pedicures because I'm particular about how my nails are done and get anxious when things aren't right. I guess you could call me a perfectionist. That said, I've noticed that anytime there's a hair or bubble in the gel and I politely ask for it to be fixed, it tends to be taken personally. That happened again this time--everything went smoothly during the appointment, but at the end, I pointed out a hair stuck in the gel and asked if it could be removed. The tech didn't say anything, but her body language made it clear she was upset. That kind of reaction is exactly why I usually do my own Gel-X at home. Still, aside from that, the service and quality are solid, and I'd recommend the salon overall. Just not for super detailed gel work. read more
