I've been going to my family's home in Stone Harbor for my whole life, and I was excited to hear that there was a brewery now in town. We stopped by this brightly lit brew pub on a weekend evening to find that they don't personally brew everything that they serve. Out of the 12 beers on tap, 3 of them were brewed in this pub. It's great that the Seven Mile Island is getting into craft beer, but this place certainly has a lot of room to grow. Their Belgian beach bum tasted a bit more like a lager, but I did enjoy their double IPA. Service was pretty good, but bar seating is minimal. There's also plenty of outdoor patio seating as well. I bet this place would do nicely during summer nights in the middle of the season. I'll stop by next summer, but I really hope they'll have more beers to offer by then. read more

This place was not welcoming. We walked In and the entire restaurant instantly became quiet. The young girl who was the hostess looked at us like we were ghost. As we ate she kept looking at us almost disgusted as of we were not welcomed there. The food was horrible. Ravioli was something from a can. Fish had no flavor. The best thing was the french fries. We left immediately after. We later discovered two charges from this place. The manager said they would look into it like it was not a priority. Unacceptable, we paid our bill. Came here for dinner last night and had the best and most relaxing time! The location is right next to Sandbar, so both are right on the beach. The air was fresh and crisp, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Also, I am not a beer drinker but my husband loves beer and I tried his- literally the best and purest beer I have had in a while (Belgium beach bum). I had the first cocktail on the list and it was okay. We had the corn fritters, tuna tar tar, and cheesecake bites. They were delicious, along with our crab salad and ribs. Our waitress Hannah was super friendly and the items came out quickly. I highly recommend this place for anyone in the area. We happened to drive from AC to spend the night in the area. read more

I was in Avalon for a wedding and came here one afternoon for lunch. When we walked in there wasn't a hostess anywhere to be found, so it was a bit awkward to seek her out to get a table. Our server was training another so that was another awkward experience but overall the service was fine. My sister and I ordered the mac & cheese and the cheese fries to share. We were in the mood for hearty appetizers and these were a little on the lighter side. The mac and cheese was actually really good. The cheese sauce was almost like an alfredo. However, the cheese fries were really just potato wedges with a little bit of cheese. We were hoping for more cheese and toppings because without the toppings the fries were a little bland. Overall I think the Avalon Brew Pub is a good option for dinner but if you're looking for a casual place to grab a bite you may want to try an actual pub. read more

When traveling I tend to stick to the local joints. I love supporting local establishments, and I love fresh food. I will give myself something a bit more upscale than my standard fare in trips, so I chose this brew pub. Unfortunately, I wish I hadn't. I ordered the Bavarian pretzel and the scallops to go since I was only a few minutes from my room. Sadly the report is: missing part of my order, a rock hard pretzel, inedible rubbery scallops, portion size not comparable to other restaurants in the area. To be quick about it, the pretzel was missing the condiments and snapped apart. It was audible. The scallop flavor and the risotto flavor were amazing but the scallops were like chewing rubber. The risotto and peas could fit into a 1c measuring cup with room to spare. I'm just so disappointed. read more

For being in a COVID crisis, the wait staff were not too interested in hustling. The menu is small and not a whole big selection of items. The food quality was poor. We came here on a Sunday night and ordered our appetizer first (pretzel) and then two entrees. We did wait a rather long time when our entrees then came out before our appetizer. The brew pub fries were okay, but the chicken sandwich was lacking in the flavor department as well. Menu is somewhat limited, but the calamari appetizer and soup of the day (butternut squash) were excellent. Very disappointed with the prime rib French dip sandwich... the meat was not very flavorful, nor was there a lot of it on the sand which. The bread tasted and felt stale. Staying here at the icona hotel for a cheer competition. Everything in the area was closed so we decided to have dinner here. Pleasantly surprised as all of our meals were fantastic. Ambiance was very lively and Our server, Sue was the bomb dot com and on point all night even though it was incredibly busy for St Paddy's Day. Severe disappointment. I'm a craft beer lover, I visit as many "brew pubs" as I can. This place is not a brew pub, it's a shore restaurant with beers on tap that aren't Budweiser or Coors. Online it said they'd have 4-6 beers they brewed themselves, but the day we were there, they had a "tap takeover" from another NJ brewery, ironically one I was going to visit later in the day, but then didn't have to. Nobody in the place seemed to know anything about beer, they were all just seasonal servers, robotic and cold. When I go to a brew pub, I usually enjoy some conversation about their beers or anything, but our serving mannequin with a pulse clearly had no interest in being at our table one second longer than she had to be. I can't really comment on their beers, because of the flight I got, 3 of the 4 were from Hidden Sands, not ABP. The food was borderline disgraceful. I had a BBQ chicken pizza, made with probably Kraft BBQ sauce that cost $1.69 at the Acme, a tiny bit of cheese, and nondescript chicken. My daughter had a pepperoni pizza, which wasn't nearly as good at Tombstone, and my buddy had wings which were drastically overpriced at $14 and he said we're definitely not worth it. I guess the decor was the highlight, they had beer kegs screwed into the ceiling and the men's urinal was a hollowed out keg. The other highlight was our server forgetting a beer on our bill. I'm guessing people vacationing at the shore don't really care about craft beer so they aren't worried about catering to fanatics like me, and that's fine. We ordered the Calamari which was tasty but scarce on the calamari. Wings were good but hotter than we were lead to believe by the waitress. She forgot to bring appetizers plates. Like I said, the burger, crab cake and pork sandwiches were very good. The fries were tasty but not hot-the were lukewarm. My daughters seared scallops were a total disappointment. For $32, they should have been at least hot and shimmery.The "risotto" was dry and tasteless. It wasn't really risotto. The chef needs a lesson on fine cooking. Other than that. It was okay. Hey. Giving this place a B rating. That's pretty good for Avalon considering the dining options on the island stink. We went there on NYE and it wasn't crowded at all and there was no pre-fixed menu (yay!) We ordered the duck nachos and cheesesteak dumplings. Nachos were good but it was basically 80% chips. Don't bother with the dumplings. I got the chef's special burger with avocado on a brioche bun. It was really good but the bun left something to be desired. Husband got a turkey wrap that he said was pretty good. He said their IPA was a thumbs up. Will definitely check it out this summer because I want to try their beers for myself. read more

I've visited twice in the last few months and had good experience both times. I'm an IPA person and really enjoyed their We Don't Play IPA beer. I would strongly recommend it for anybody who enjoys IPAs. I didn't try other beer. They did have a nice selection of beer they brew and a few other local beers as well. I tried the pub burger and it was very tasty and cooked to perfection. Both times I've visited it was not crowded, the bartenders and manager couldn't have been nicer to my friends and myself. I will return. My only reason for not giving an additional star was the price of everything. I understand the brew pub is connected to an upscale hotel and in expensive area. During 3 night stay at Icona my wife, son and myself ate here approximately 6 times.Six times multiplied by 3 is 18 meals plus some apps.From mussels to ribs to lobster ravioli and so on.(oh,and breakfast).I can honestly say I enjoyed every meal as did my wife and son.Sides of cole slaw and fries were delish.Mostly polite young waitstaff hustling and giving their best effort during these trying times(and 90+ degree weather).Our waitress last night was not as quite as young as most by her service stood out.It was a relief knowing we were going to get great meals without leaving Icona Avalon. read more
