Recently ordered pizza for takeout and it was really good! We had the Buffalo chicken pizza and Margarita.

Went with my husband and friends after a day at the beach. We were seated on the outdoor covered patio. Very pleasant. Our waitress was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped me narrow down my choices. We all started with the clam chowder. Delish! Then we shared pizzas. I ordered the fig. It was amazing. All of the flavors just worked so well together. I was so obsessed with the fig pie that I barely paid attention to the other ones. They were the Philly cheesesteak pie and the Italian sausage pie. We all stuffed ourselves. Have had ok meals when I've dined in but wow my Sunday night pizza was a super disappointment. The two small 12" pies for $50 was bad enough. The fact that they were WAY worse than the frozen pizza from the offshore Acme for $5 - inexcusable. So this was a hit or miss for us. We had a Caesar salad and a spinach salad both were very good. We had the hoagie dip also very good The pizza , however was not the best in my opinion. Shorebreak Pizza Grille is a nice little place to eat right on Dune Drive in Avalon. It is not fancy, it has a very casual atmosphere with both indoor and 2 sections of outdoor seating available. You can dine in or take out. The prices are a little high for some items, but on par with the restaurants at the Shore. The first time I went to Shorebreak, I opted to eat inside. Waitress service was quick and pleasant. The waitstaff uses tablets for orders, which I found to be nice and was just as quick as traditional writing on a notepad. I ordered the Blackened Chicken sandwich with a side of fries. My lunch date ordered the California Chicken Club sandwich with chips. Both sandwiches came out quickly and were hot and cooked perfectly. The side of fries was very, very small, but good. The sandwich was just enough, not too big or small. The blackened chicken has a touch of Cajun spice to it, so beware if you do not like that kind of flavor. My second trip to Shorebreak was take-out. I ordered a small Cesar salad with chicken. It was pricey ($13+) as they put the same amount of chicken on the small and large salads. The salad was good, but I would opt for the large salad next time. read more

I was highly disappointed with this place. My wife had the sun-dried tomato and goat cheese pizza - too much bland sauce and hardly any goat cheese. I had the roasted pork sandwich which consisted of two thick pieces of roll, a razor thin layer of pork and some broccoli rabe. All for a measley $10 - a complete rip off. I went to Shorebreak on a Friday evening for dinner. It was fairly crowded. I ordered the Shrimp Wrap for 9 dollars. I liked: The wrap tasted pretty good. There's not much to like beyond that. I didn't like: To start, the wrap was said to include "Grilled Shrimp, Avacado, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Garlic Aioli" I got cold steamed shrimp without avacado- they were good on the other stuff. The wrap (pictured) was about the size of a McDonalds snackwrap and came with bottom-of-the-bag Sunchips which in my opinion was not justified by the price tag. Our food (both cold sandwiches) took far too long to come out, roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Our waitress was below par as far as serviceability goes. We didn't get our plate settings till long after we were seated and already had drinks. I would give this place one more try and give the pizza a shot, but that's about it. The food was nothing to write home about and was overpriced. I would not recommend this place to someone I cared about. read more

We ordered a gluten free (celiac disease) pizza thru their grub hub delivery process. When we received it and WAY after the driver left the food on the ground, we called to ask if it was in fact gf they did not respond too well. A good place would have had the manager send over a new Gluten free pizza on them and apologized. Instead they blamed grub hub driver and now we have no recourse and the person with celiac disease ate 2 slices and very worried about his reaction! So we went from thinking this would be on our pizza list to worrying that they will never send the proper gf options. read more

Loved this casual dining option in Avalon which is BYOB and has shaded outdoor seating! An eclectic menu offers everything from pizzas to hamburgers to fish tacos. We shared a white pizza and a crab cake sandwich and both were excellent. Generous and affordable portions and wonderful that you can bring your own beverages. The wait staff is mostly comprised of young girls all of whom were attentive. A great casual atmosphere that you can show up in with your beach wear. read more

I'll give an extra star for cheerful service, but easily the worst meal in 23 years of summers in Avalon. Ordered $13 wing app for the table ... six wings showed up. Seafood quesadillas were inedible, even with the miserly tablespoon of pico on the side. The "side" of veggies on the kids' meal was two baby carrots and a floret of broccoli. I absolutely love Shorebreak Pizza Grille!! Every time I go, I am satisfied. The service is great, very friendly staff. It is a nice local spot where you can come in off the beach for a quick bite or come dressed up for a nice dinner with the fam! The hoagie dip is a unique, must have appetizer. I also love the teriyaki sesame skewers, fish tacos, shrimp tacos, scallops, shrimp wrap, turkey pesto, chicken cheesesteak, etc. Heck! I could go on and on! Great menu which was not executed well. We had the crab pretzel, a pizza, and a cheeseburger. The pretzel was made with gobs of mayo which had a suspicious tangy flavor that reminded me of miracle whip. It was not a good complement to old bay and crabmeat. The burger was over cooked and served with crumbled ruffles potato chips. Nothing about it was remarkable and really not worth the 12.5 bucks. The pizza came with 2 of the three toppings I ordered (chicken, rabe, and prosciutto) and was disappointing also. I like thin pizza, but it has to be able to hold the sauce and toppings, and this pie was a lifeless pile of soft mush in the center. This place has some really good food! Chicken cheesesteak is delicious! They have really good pizza too. I have to say... if you're in Avalon and not willing to drive to another shore point, this place is the best food option. I would really give this a 3.5 but since there isn't that option I went to a 4 given the service. :) Came here with a party of 6 and we were easily sat outside in the front! Also BYOB and across from the liquor store in case you need to run and grab some. It came with white rice (eh) and weird bbq beans. Would have preferred a more standard rice/beans combo. The two tacos were good in size and the meat was nice qualify, but the other ingredients inside were lackluster. The rice/beans were very small portions Salads: the ahi chop was good but a small portion. Sesame crusted was a nice touch. Dessert: none existent, but they offered for us to go over to Avalon freeze and come back and sit at our table which was nice Service: Nice servers, obviously younger teens from the area but very knowledgeable. Three years later and I still love Shorebreak and don't understand why people are hating! The atmosphere is perfect for the beach - lots of outdoor seating in the front and back of the restaurant, surf movies inside, and BYO beer and wine. The food here is always fresh and delicious. I'm a big fan of all of their salads and sandwiches. Every time I have gotten an entree it has been above average - not just for beach food (which is really lacking in south jersey...). I have never had a problem with the service. They are always quick, attentive but not overbearing, and friendly. Shorebreak is by far my first recommendation for a great, casual dinner to anyone who is at a shore point remotely close to Avalon. read more

My family has gone to the Shorebreak almost weekly (May - Dec) for about 5 years now. But the love affair has come to an end. Which is a bummer...because there are a lot of nice things about the restaurant, aside from the food. Last night, among other items, I ordered a hamburger (plain) for my son. It was a to-go order...we were going to eat at home. When I arrived to pick up the order...the burger wasnt quite ready. No big deal, I can wait! I saw the burger come off of the grill. The cook was preparing it with his bare hands. Not a super big deal...lets give him the benefit of the doubt and assume his hands were surgeon-clean. The cook realized that the cheeseburger in front of him was supposed to be plain hamburger. He needed to get rid of the cheese. So he looked around him and grabbed the dirty rag that he just used to wipe the counter. He used this rag to wipe the cheese off of the cheeseburger to make it a hamburger for my son. Then he brought it to the cashier - to be packaged with my order. I asked the cook about the rag and the girl working the register immediately asked me if I wanted a refund. I did. My problem here is related to health and sanitation. If you want to get violently ill...then I'd def tell you to go to the Shorebreak. If not - then maybe another spot is a better choice. I love the french fries here, especially their truffle parm fries. They are SO GOOD. This place is super casual, has both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a good variety of foods on their menu and have gluten free options as well (their gluten free pizza is YUMMY, none of that nasty crumbly crust). The service is decent, the staff is always very nice. The prices are a little overpriced for what they serve but that's just because its at the shore. I keep coming back for their french fries and pizza. read more

This place is a good family restaurant with a cool surfing vibe. The ambiance is really clean and well decorated. I like their pizza and how it is not just a normal pizza joint at the shore. You can get some specialty pies that are tasty. I think that their sandwiches are a bit over-priced for what you get. I like how they give you sun-chips with your order but give me more than 5 sun-chips. read more
