    Watermelon splash beer
    Lauren M.

Great beer & food! We came for lunch on a dreary weekday and sat on the covered patio. I had a nice light refreshing watermelon splash beer & the crispy brew pub chicken sandwich and fries. Both were great. I did realize about halfway through my sandwich that I think it was missing the mustard but I don't think I realized at first since the chicken was so good and crunchy. Another person in our party was also missing a sauce on her meal, but realized it right away and they provided it on the side. Parking doesn't seem to be the easiest since there are so many hotel/resort spaces in the area, but one of the staff did let us park in one of the spots since the street parking was full. I'm not sure what's normally allowed though so be prepared to find street parking and walk to get there. We spent our time dining outside so I didn't snap a pic, but the inside is really cool with kegs and lights covering the ceiling.

We had a nice experience here upon arrival into Avalon! We were staying across the street at the Desert Sands Resort and popped over for some beers and dinner. There was a bit of wait so we posted up at the bar. Shoutout to the bartender who was on, as she was hustling. I really enjoyed my flight - especially the shandy and the pumpkin brew. I went with the crab cake sam for my dinner and it was quite tasty. Tomato on top with a bun toasted to perfection. Their fries were great and the perfect accompaniment to my beers. I liked the beer-themed decor and the ambiance was pretty family friendly while still feeling nice, if that makes sense. I would recommend for the convenience and beers!

    Sausage flatbread pizza

We weren't overly impressed by our dining experience at the Avalon Brew Pub. It wasn't BAD but it wasn't stellar. While they were relatively busy, they didn't seemed to be swamped. However, service was pretty painfully slow. It seemed they had a good bit of personnel but some people seemed entirely overloaded (wait staff) while they seemed to have other people mostly standing around. Service was good, just slow. We had the calamari which was fresh and crispy but just way too salty. We had the sausage flatbread, also tasty but rather soggy in the middle. So you couldn't really pick up a slice without either folding, cutting or using something to keep it from falling apart on your way to a bite. Very tasty. Just soggy. My spouse really liked the fish and chips. She thought the batter was flaky and the fluke was light and tasty. The fries with old bay were crispy and hot. The slaw was tangy and not overly sweet, though we did have to ask for it since it was left behind-- once we found someone to ask. It was a bit odd the fish and chips came with a side of ketchup and a side of Mayo. Ketchup for fries, I get. But was the Mayo for the fries too? Or was it just tartar sauce without other ingredients? Anyway.... I wouldn't avoid the place but given we are on vacation... I wouldn't necessarily return given all the other options available in the area.

My fault for heading into Avalon of all places and expecting a "Brew Pub" to have some relatable, bar vibe menu/offering. This place is connected to the exorbitantly priced ICONA. Should've known.. $8 beers, $16+ sandwiches, $18 9" pizzas? Ouch. Expensive raw bar and drinks. Food was ok, Dune Burger $19, was overcooked, messy but not bad. Veggie burger $16, was a bit dry, needed salt. 4 beers-$32 $70 tab for 2.

If you are staying in the hotel Avalon Brew is convenient for your meals. The food is ok. The breakfasts are typical diner food. Burgers are ok and probably the best is the pizzas. They have great selection of beer so perfect for beer connoisseurs

Loaded crab fries - eh, they're alright.

On a recent off-season vacation, my family and I decided to stop in here for some brews and food. It was an okay experience. Food - hit or miss. Nothing was bad, but our crabby cheese fries were a strange combo of nacho-style cheese that sharply contrasted with the lump crab meat. The cheese steak dumplings basically captured the essence of a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich but overall left me underwhelmed. My wife loves a good burger and theirs wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. I decided to spring for the bouillabaisse. It was very tasty with big chunks of scallops, lobster, shrimp, as well as clams and mussels. A big boule bread was a nice accompaniment. My only complaint would be that I wish there were more broth to mop up; it was very flavorful. Drinks - not bad. They brew about 5 beers plus a seasonal. They also offer a number of other craft beers. You can get a flight to sample a few at a time. Most were good while others were just okay. The service was very slow. The interior is not that large, though it is large if you are the *one* waitress trying to take care of everybody. While we don't fault her for that, there was at least two other people on staff (I'm guessing manager and host) who helped a bit, but really should have stepped in a lot more because this woman was stretched to the brink. We waited a long time to order, receive our food, etc. We had been tempted to order dessert, but realized that would add another half hour to our evening. The interior is beautiful and despite the slow service, service was quite friendly. Prices are high, but I guess that's to be expected in a beach town like this one. Overall, come for the beers, set aside plenty of time to enjoy, loosen up a bit, and this is a good place to hang out.

The lineup on tap included several limited releases, which was what I was hoping for. I tasted a few different ones and the seasonal, but at the end went back to my old reliable variations of hazy IPAs. I did the tasting flight that comes with a souvenir glass, and you should too. We stopped in right at opening on a fall weekend, so it was quiet, which actually made it easy to take our time (and to visit with a 10-week-old that I was not sharing with) but I can see it getting packed pretty easily.

My girlfriend and I came for the first time shortly after opening on a Friday afternoon in August. There were only a few other customers during our time there. The beer was pretty good. The two standouts for me were the Wah Wah Watch butterscotch ale, and the hard birch beer. I've seen plenty of NJ breweries that make their own root beer but never a hard version. They seem to be known for their seltzers and have quite a few on tap, many more than I've seen at other breweries. The staff were exceptionally friendly. One of them asked us if we could be his guinea pigs and let us try half a pint of some sort of strawberry concoction. Later when there were six of us sitting at the bar, he let us all try a full taster of their soon-to-be-released pumpkin beer, complete with a cinnamon sugar rim.

A new contender for the best brewery that I've ever been to has arrived!…read more Long before my visit to Seed I heard storied tales of their amazingly fresh saisons, their wide variety of beers to indulge in and take home, fun events, and great merchandise. And after my first and second visits, I can attest to all of the above-exceeding expectations. Saisons and farmhouse beers like Growth and Change and Poetry in Motion were tapped so fresh that you had to wait 5 to 10 minutes for your perfect pour to be ready. But being able to savor brews like a perfectly smoked rauchbier or hazy IPA while you waited, and then indulge in the effervescent flavors of fruit and spring after more than made up for it! The selection of beers is among the best that I've ever savored. While they do have those IPAs that are coveted by most, their main claim to fame is having a rotating line of those amazing saisons. The current lineup is also perfectly rounded with a spelt lager, baltic porter, biere de coupage, and a tantalizing brown ale on standby. When we went on the first night they had a fantastic singer-songwriter who took spot on requests, and were treated to awesome customer service. We were also impressed by the wide variety of seating arrangements that catered to groups of all sizes. Another thing I enjoyed was having an easy time of picking up things like a 4-pack of coffee stout, a bottled saison at a decent price, and an epic T-shirt that impressed during my last beer fest. Hail Saison!

On a Thursday mid-afternoon we were on our way back to the house from the Indian River Inlet and were in the mood to relax with a beer. Luckily, Bethany Bay Brewing was right on our way home so we took a little detour. The parking lot was pretty empty but to our surprise it was rather crowded. The beertender, Mack, was right there to greet us. She was very nice and helpful, did a great job explaining their tap list, and even gave us recommendations for other local establishments to try out. She also gave us an opportunity to taste any beer before we ordered a pint which is much appreciated! My dad got an IPA while my mom and I got flights (5 pours for $15). I enjoyed all of the beers I tried, especially the Blueberry Blonde and Blood Orange IPA. I would have been happy ordering a full pour of any of the beers I had in my flight (I also had Riptide Double IPA, Dark Seas Chocolate Stout, and Birds Nest Lager). They also provide complementary popcorn to their guests which is a thoughtful gesture. They have seltzers, wines, and ciders available for any non-beer drinkers out there, and I did see a sign signifying discounts for veterans and cyclists! If I lived locally I would definitely be a regular here. Next June I will definitely make it a point to stop in and have another flight of 5 beers I didn't try during this visit. We were very pleased with our short visit and were very happy we made the decision to stop in on our way home.
