Awesome spot... I had to drive all the way from Ocean City NJ to try it. Their breakfast and coffee made the trip worth it 5x's over as it turns out to be the only save haven for healthy / gluten free eaters on the island. Anyone used to conscious eating on the West Coast will find their place here and still enjoy a panini for a more savory option. They serve food to stay & to go, from acai bowls, stellar organic coffee (bonus points for almond milk in the fridge), smoothies, oats and bagels + toast with avocado smash. I know I'll have to make multiple trips to try every option but won't mind after tasting the oats. It's popular but spacious and a solid place for groups. Really happy this shack is here to keep clean and enjoy great food on the island. read more

Came here on the 4th of July so we expected a little wait and knowing it was a newer place expected a few bumps. The outside was very inviting and was set up really nice. The bowls once we received them after 30-40 min tasted good as well. The reason for the 2/5 starts really lies with the customer service or lack of provided to us by the young lady taking the orders. We had a group of 6 of us there placing 3 separate orders of 2. Immediately you could tell she had some sort of attitude and that she was almost mad that the line was so long. I understand that you can get frustrated but if this is the person you have breathing potential long time customers for the first time then you have a problem. My wife and I ordered our bowls then I asked to order a panini and were told that they are unavailable to order because the kitchen is too busy. Fully understand that as well except let us know that before we wait in line for 20 min. The second group of people we were with experienced the sam thing as well as the 3rd group. They where told that they could not order the drink they wanted because "it's to much work." . Hopefully they can make the changes they need to to expedite their kitchen and get a hostess/cashier that has a little more energy because this place does have a lot of potential. I will stop back in a few weeks and check it out again and update my review if progress has been made. read more

If you're looking for a quick snack, I would look elsewhere. My husband got a cooler drink ($4) and I ordered the smoothie of the day ($8 for 16 oz. -- a dollar more than their regular smoothies and the price for the smoothie of the day was never advertised). Only after we ordered did the cashier let us know that it would be a 15+ minute wait for our smoothie and that we should probably wait outside. We felt forced to go outside in the heat, but ended up staying in the AC as we waited. There were only 2 people working even though it's 4th of July week at the beach, arguably the busiest of the season. The workers weren't wearing gloves and my 8 dollar smoothie? They used bagged frozen fruit. For $8, they should be using the freshest ingredients. After waiting 15 minutes for our one smoothie, my husband went up to the front to see how much longer it would take. The cashier gave him an attitude and said it would be out soon. After 20 minutes, we finally received the smoothie. The shack probably lost $100 worth of business during our wait time from customers leaving after hearing there was a wait. Recommendation: I wouldn't come here. You can find better prices and quality service somewhere else. read more

Though not everything is made fresh there it still tastes super fresh (some already prepared food like the salsa and such and some of the fruit I believe is frozen). They don't use a lot of salt, I guess because they cater to a healthier crowd so depending on you taste buds you may want to add. But I do wish they used garlic and/or onions to give it a bit more flavor. This place is a life saver on an island with tons of pizza, tacos and Italian food. The staff was really friendly. And the prices aren't outrageous. I just wish they had more choice, especially the savory, so I could go more often. read more

Waited for 50 minutes for someone to open the store. Called; no answer. I thought they possibly closed by there were fresh bananas on the counter yet. Really bummed bc I was looking forward to the acai bowl especially after reading the reviews. read more

Great açaí right here in Avalon... Having had açaí in Brazil many times, I'm careful before ordering it just any place. There's a lot of really bad açaí in this country -- whether it's because it's powdered rather than the frozen stuff; or whether it's watered down or blended -- or whether the place doesn't want to spend the money to get the good stuff (or can't make the margin it needs) Anyway, these guys are taking things seriously and putting a nice product out there. I'd recommend checking it out. It's a good value for money given the raw materials aren't cheap. The service was also super friendly which was nice, and the little food court setup provides a nice place to sit and have your açaí bowl either inside or out. Only thing to improve would be to get the espresso machine fixed. I had hoped to try the coffee that other Yelpers talked about, but all they had was standard brewed stuff and I really only like espresso, or a macchiato, etc. read more

Amazing coffee. Dog friendly. And the best part is their organic food offered with chill music and a friendly staff. Come in and chill at picnic tables or lounge chairs and enjoy the acai bowls or a panini or some amazing steel cut oats for a refreshing alternative to greasy Shore food. You cannot do better for lunch than this place. Their avocado toast is out of this world! I also had the Mexi bowl, which was terrific. And great smoothies! Service is slower, but you're getting fresh food. If you want fast, hit McDonald's. If you want good, this is worth the wait. read more

Love this little shack!! Their coffee is the best on the island and it's a great place to grab a snack after yoga. I'd grab a coffee bag for home but it's too cute of a place to pass up on visiting regularly. The kitchen stays busy and it's always a little bit of a wait but the service couldn't be more helpful so it's worth hanging around a few minutes. Looking forward to coming back soon to try all the new daily acai bowls. read more

So .. We had high hopes based on area & past reviews, we were mistaken. We arrived around 4 pm - the surfer dude at the register was very friendly, however he warned us that they were out of a lot of products. We ordered avocado toast , it's was described to us at "Toast" which it was not at all, it was soggy. The avocado tasted old , the balsamic vinegar was a nice touch yet over powering that added to the sogginess of the meal. We were lured into the meal by the promise of fresh cut tomatoes , sea salt & red pepper flakes, the seasonings seem to be left off. For the price was disappointed. We truly would like for them to succeed, they need to revisit the basic to become above the rest. read more

Probably the worst acai bowl I've ever had (and I'm obsessed with them so I've had a LOT). I did not go in peak season, so maybe it's better once they're more in the swing of things and have the full menu. However, I received a pretty pathetic acai bowl that was still frozen from the pack and no granola. Also, it was cash only but had no signs to indicate that. read more

Came here twice during a one week visit to Avalon--once for breakfast and once for lunch. Loved the frothing acai bowl. Watermelon and carrot juices were good although kind of expensive at $8. Coffee is better than Avalon coffee! Definitely recommend you check it out for the nice healthy, locally sourced alternative choices. read more
