Potential | Tequila | New Potential - the space is pretty incredible. Well decorated, cool, sophisticated beach vibe, which is new to the stone harbor area. They are in the 96th street mall area, but they have a ton of space and two levels with a first-level outdoor bar area. The second level is primed for an outdoor patio that will make this spot a great place for a cocktail during the day or at night. Additionally, it could become a lounge nightlife spot as well. I'm interested to see what the two levels become over the next year. Tequila - They are a tequila bar with a good amount of options in terms of drinks. They have patron and casamigos products. Not sure if they have higher-end brands, but they have a penchant for mezcal and tequila drinks. It's a new specialty for the area because there is only one other place in town that leans towards this genre of spirits. New - this place is BRAND NEW. They opened one week ago. So they are still trying to figure things out. Nothing egregious, just items that any new restaurant would be trying to work through. That's why I will update this review at the end of summer when they have their rhythm. Why not 5 stars - the place has growing pains because they have only been open 1 week. For example, we showed up at 10 am and ordered coffee, but they didn't have coffee beans for their coffee maker. Another example is they were cycling one ketchup bottle amongst 3-4 tables in our section because they didn't have enough ketchup bottles. Why not 4 stars - the music volume really kills the vibe. They have a great music selection that meshes their Montauk ecstatic and vibe. But it's 20-30% too loud. Monica and I had difficulty talking with each other inside, and we were not that close to any speaker. Also, their high-top tables have chairs that are 3-6 inches too short for average height people. Lastly, their streaming service played commercials after every 3rd or 4th song which, given the volume, detracted from the vibe as well. Positives - food was good. We went for brunch and shared the loaded French toast and potatoes. Both were well madeAnd we highly recommend. - their staff was extremely courteous and attentive. - their decorations are very pleasing to the eye, and their tables/seats are well spaced. We look forward to seeing this place in a few weeks when they have all the kinks worked out.

Strawberry field cocktail

I went to Agave earlier today and my experience was amazing! The cocktails selection is great. I ordered strawberry field. It's sooooo delicious!! And bacon avocado eggrolls are must try. They also have live music there in the evenings. The bartenders are very friendly. I also got a chance to meet the manager Mandy, nice and professional young lady. Definitely will be back.

Patron and pineapple, & Jalapeño and cucumber

Stumbled upon this place while walking through the harbor square. Amazing cocktails with fresh curated ingredients and great and accommodating service. We ordered the strawberry fields, Patron and pineapple, & Jalapeño and cucumber. All were very good. I especially like the jalapeño and cucumber. There was also live chillax music which added to the atmosphere. I definitely would come back to try more of their cocktails!!

Shrimp Caesar salad

The strawberry margarita was a good price. The cheeseburgers were expensive for the amount we've got the Caesar salad with shrimp could've been a bit better. The guacamole and chips were probably the best thing it was fresh and tasty. The waitresses were extremely nice and welcoming, and the vibe inside was very intriguing.

Stopped by on the opening weekend to check it out and really impressed with what they've done with the place! Totally renovated on the inside the spot is now bright and full of casual beach vibes. Excellent cocktail menu with something for everyone and the food was great. Our server Julie was top notch and really made us feel welcome in this new Stone Harbor bar. Next time we will try to get a spot in the bar window which was a hot commodity!

Ordered the carne asada tacos, they were not actual carne asada and more like standard Tex-mex taco meat.

SAX at The Reeds - Dubai Cheesecake

SAX at The Reeds

I have learned to expect a lower standard of service in Cape May County, regardless of the average…read morecheck amount, so I was pleasantly surprised to see someone raising the bar in the way that The Reeds in Stone Harbor appears to be doing. The last time we dined at "Sax At The Reeds" was soon after they opened, and it had not been good. My entree on that first visit had been so inedible, I took one bite and left the rest. That may have been a first for me. It was that bad. I didn't even ask for something else; I was so disgusted. This most recent experience was considerably improved. My wife and I were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary a few days late, and when prompted during the reservation process, I had checked the box for "special occasion" without thinking much about it. It seemed rather incidental, but I thought it couldn't hurt. The staff at Sax did not disappoint. When we arrived at the front desk, the sharply-dressed gentleman working the host stand was engaging and personable, and when we answered that we did indeed have reservations, he guessed our name and welcomed us and congratulated us on our anniversary. He asked if we preferred a special table and offered a window seat if we liked. If we'd known they had a fireplace, we probably would have chosen to sit in front of that, but the window seat was lovely. We were soon greeted by Patrick, our server for the evening, and he arrived with two flutes of sparkling wine on the house and wished us a happy anniversary. Patrick was an animated and exuberant server who definitely knew his job, understood the food and wine, and had strong opinions about the menu. We were never in need of anything, but also never felt overwhelmed by his presence. A good balance. My wife began with the broiled oysters, which were phenomenal, and I had the steakhouse salad, which was surprisingly good for being an original take on a simple wedge. It was exactly what I wanted and a perfect size. Not too big or small and elegantly presented. For our entrees, Jane ordered the crab-stuffed flounder with lobster sauce on a bed of risotto, which she thoroughly enjoyed even though it's not something she would typically order. Jane has a very critical palette and is a great cook herself, so she's not easily pleased. She thought it was a delicious, well-balanced dish. I had been craving steak, an uninspiring selection, so I ordered the NY Strip with maître d'hôtel butter. While we enjoyed our wine, Patrick returned to offer me a choice of five different knives, displayed in a wooden box. He explained each one and asked for my choice. I told him I would go with his recommendation, and I got something simple called "The Knife," a hand-hammered piece of fine cutlery. The steak was perfectly cooked, although I personally found it under-seasoned. I like a salty finish on my red meat, so Patrick promptly brought me a small dish of fleur de sel, and we were in business. My sides were whipped potatoes and carrots, both of which were good, but the potatoes were presented as if plated with a large ice cream scoop, which made them appear fake diner potatoes. Even Jane called it out as an unusual choice. The carrots were perfectly cooked and had an almost citrus finish. For wine, we had selected a Chardonnay chosen by the sommelier as a special for the evening, and it was good but not transcendent, while the Chappallet red blend on the menu was absolutely exquisite. Powerful and smooth with a great finish. For dessert, I had planned to order the warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream that I had seen on the website, but it wasn't available. Instead, we ordered something called the Dubai Cheesecake. Dubai chocolate was something I was vaguely aware of, but wasn't entirely sure what it was. Patrick assured us that while the dish was hard to describe in terms of a flavor profile, it was a killer bit of confection. He wasn't wrong. It was crunchy and creamy, complex in its simplicity. A transformative dish, and we're not even big dessert people. I won't pretend that any of this was a bargain, but excellence rarely is. I'll admit to a bit of sticker shock when the bill arrived, so be prepared to drop a few bills. But if you're looking for great service and food, you won't find anything better at the Jersey Shore than Sax at the Reeds. It's worth a special trip.

FABULOUS food, service and value fro the price fixe menu. Ambiance was great with the fireplaceread more

Luckily there is a door that closes off the noisy bar area. The service was good the waitress gave us some recommendations and was knowledgeable about the menu. We started with a few cocktails which were good and booze forward. We didn't have appetizers this trip. We did have the wedge salad which was good not great underwhelming wanted the dressing to be better. We had a party of 4 two people ordered the filet cooked different temps. One ordered the short rib with potato's and carrots. One ordered the crab cake. The filet was cooked perfectly we ordered a sauce but it never came. It was flavored well enough it didn't need any added sauce. The short rib was savory and tender falling apart . The crab cake was good but was grilled a bit too dark for my liking. It was chock full of lump crab. We didn't have dessert for dinner since service was slow and took a while to complete dinner. The side dishes all lacked flavor. The creamed spinach was bland and under salted and runny. The broccoli was just ok and a bit cold. The potato was good but can't mess those up too much. All in all a good dinner it's not a great value but expected at the beach. The entrees were good sides fell short. Lots of mixed reviews here nice looking place though . Maybe try for yourself !

The chopped and wedge salad were good however, the rest of our meals were mediocre at best, even the bread and butter were terrible. Our steaks were bland, the baked potato was soft, the spinach was unseasoned and the brussel sprouts were burnt. One guest had to return her drink three times and finally gave up trying to get what she asked for. At the prices they are charging this was very disappointing.
