It does look like a nice place to get a drink. We did love what we ate. However, I can't really recommend this place unless money is no object to you. We got one mocktail, a diet soda, and essentially 3 appetizers which totaled about $80. On top of that, the portion sizes were pretty small to the point that there is a good chance you will leave hungry. Nice flavors, good people. But the price either needs to come down or the portion sizes need to be increased.

I asked the bartender if these were the normal presentation of the fries she said "oh yes they're hand cut fries" my question would be hand cut when and fried when? They were overdone and mushy. . And after exchange the bartender adopted a pissy attitude. Here's my thing to the managers/owners of this establishment: I have worked in various forms in hospitality and customer service. I'm also an older person, consumer, frequent visitor of restaurants and bars. Take this however you will. It's a Tuesday afternoon... The servers and the service and the food should be exactly the fucking same as it is on Friday and Saturday night. Feel free to contact me if I said anything out of line. Indoor table seating is pretty tight but they also have a nice patio and a bar area. We shared the shrimp from the raw menu (though it was cooked) both nights. Giant 1lb plate; not too hard to peel yourself. My wife really liked the crab cakes. They were very rich and came with a wonderful cooked vegetable medley side. I tried the shrimp gumbo bowl with a tomato sauce over rice. It was fine though a little more plain and the rice was a bit hard. My stepdad tried the reuben (giant) with an appetizer of potato leek soup (pretty creamy). He gave both a thumbs up. The kids' chicken tender platter was also huge. The tenders had a nice seasoning and were very thick. Tons of fries. My daughter tried the turkey sandwich one night; it came with a solid 3/4lb of deli turkey, so leftovers for like two days.

Cocktails were pure alcohol and tasted nothing like the description on the menu or remotely like how they're typically made. The drinks were left untouched after 1-2 small sips and the server didn't question it at all. Also found it very odd how they have separate drink menus for dining in and the outdoor bar - so if you didn't walk up to the signs near the outdoor bar, you wouldn't know about the other drink options. Once entrees were served, we didn't even take a bite yet and the server came by mere seconds later to ask how the food was in order to "check the box" and didn't return again until we flagged her down to request the check at the end. The entree portions were small and of note, the clam pasta came with the tiniest clams (about the size of a dime/penny) and no salt or seasoning. The service and kitchen need some work, wouldn't recommend.

We were happy to come back to Wildwood and find this highly rated spot where they were willing to reserve a table for the 3 of us. Upon arrival, my Mexican wife told me that "this can't be the restaurant. You said it's a Mexican restaurant, right?" No, from the outside, it doesn't look very Mexican. But once inside, you get to see all of los alebrijes that decorate the shelves. The staff is extremely nice. We really liked them. They've got some nice drinks in their refrigerator like Horchata, Jamaica, and some Strawberry Lemonade that I loved. The chips are good, very crunchy, and they serve 2 types of salsa... a red / orange that didn't appeal to my wife and I, and a green that we loved. We got some guacamole that was decent and authentic, but they left the cilantro in these pretty big leafy pieces... that's kind of weird. I didn't love the guacamole. My wife got a combo platter, I got the new Quesobirria (birria quesadillas x3), and our daughter, a pescatarian, got a bowl of rice and shrimp. I thought her shrimp were the best thing on the table. I found the thin-cut bistec to be very chewy, which is typical of that cut. She liked the flauta and enchilada. I thought the enchilada verde was meh. They have about 6 indoor tables and a few wooden tables outdoors. Again, the servers are *exceptional*... and yet, none of us felt that we would go back.
