This is some of the worst food for 50 miles. First off let me say that if you're hungry Silverton Colorado is probably the last place you want to go for food. With that being said avalanche brewing has to scrape the bottom when it comes to flavor and quality. My wife and I just picked up two pizzas and a cheese quesadilla with chicken from there and now we are living with deep regret. No matter how many toppings and no matter how much cheese you place on their food you cannot get it to taste good at all. After ordering three toppings of cheese on a pizza there was less cheese than an ordinary pizza place uses with any of their pizzas. The crust tastes like it was pre-frozen and risen with chemicals and definitely not yeast. There's absolutely no way anything is made from scratch here because it has zero flavor. I have held off for 4 years prior to ripping on this restaurant but after coming to Silverton consecutively I have to speak up. This demonstrates the lack of care that the owner has for their customers and are simply focused on one-time visit tourists as a means to make profit. This is the final time I will patron this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and run to any other restaurant preferably one out of town. Sorry Silverton but the food quality in this location is one of the primary factors that I hesitate vacationing here and I live in Colorado. read more

The beer and service were good. They don't have any blonde ales. The pizza is not crisp.. it's over-priced for the size & minimal toppings on it. We shared one pizza, which is not enough for two people. However, rather than order more food, we decide to consider it a light lunch & fill up somewhere else for dinner. read more

Small town, great place. Food is really great here, we had the Caesar salad, jalapeño poppers and the Greek flatbread. All dishes were tasty and quite honestly better than what we expected. I have a feeling this place outshines most of the others in town. Casual atmosphere and friendly staff. Now, for the beer. The IPA was delicious and enticed our Oregon palette. Decided to mix things up and try the blonde as well.... honestly one of the best blonde ales I've ever had. This place is great! I was more impressed with the town than anything. You must stop in Silverton to cool off during the Summer. The beer is fresh and very good. I can't speak for the food as I had none. The service is fast and friendly. It's crowded and I sat at the bar fyi. If I'm close to Silverton again next Summer I'll do this place again for sure. read more

Stopped in to Avalanche for the first time while in town for the annual skijoring event this past weekend. While they were packed, service was fast, friendly and helpful. In fact, my friend and I were lucky enough to score a couple of stools at the small bar. We enjoyed the Wit and the Smash (which was like an IPA, although I overhead one of the bartenders mention that's not what was intended when they were brewing it. Regardless, it was great!). We also ordered the Supreme Pizza, which was really good too. Full of toppings and had a nice, flakey crust. The place is super small and no frills. But, I think that's part of its charm. I couldn't imagine Avalanche anywhere else but Silverton. I'll gladly be back next time I'm in town, hopefully during the warmer months to take advantage of the cute little porch out front. read more

Not the best pizza but might be the best place to sit and enjoy Colorado small town at its finest. We were first in and for amazing service. Good cider and my buddy enjoyed several of their beers. A great little brewery and pizza joint in downtown Silverton. We had a fantastic waitress and all the employees seemed to enjoy their job. They brew the beer in the back and I opted for the back country blonde.It was full flavored and great. The pizzas are all thin crust with a delicious buttery taste to it. Our favorite was the Hawaiian which they add green chili to. The green chili, pineapples, ham and bacon all blend perfectly. Different but im glad we tried it because it was my favorite. We also had a supreme and a pepperoni which were also tasty. If you're ever in Silverton and want some good pizza and beer this is the place. read more

Avalanche Cafe is a must stop if you're visiting Silverton. If you live in Silverton, it should be a regular haunt. Before leaving Silverton, I convinced my clan to stop in at the Avalanche for breakfast. BEST.DECISION.EVER. I ordered a vanilla latte. One of the best lattes I've ever had. The burritos might have been pre-made, but they were amazing. Mine was loaded with a scrambled eggs, bacon, onion, and cheese, all topped off with a green hot sauce. YUM! My sister got a blueberry smoothie, which was filled to overflowing, and topped off with whipped cream. It looked like it was about to avalanche! The hot chocolate was really good too. This place knows how to do drinks! Their pastries were average, and a little bit dry for my liking. I think my favorite part about this cafe is the atmosphere. There is a gorgeous copper bar that is right by the register. We sat at it, and could see the barista working, and see the food being prepared in the kitchen. There is a decent amount of other indoor seating, and a ton of outdoor and patio seating. The service was prompt, and the staff worked efficiently and while playfully bantering. While staying over in Silverton, we went to Avalanche Brewing after seeing good reviews. Unfortunately our experience was not good. When we got there and got seated, we were given menus and instructed to go inside and place our order. When paying before receiving our food, it came up with a minimum suggested tip of 15%. I could have probably done a "custom" tip but just opted to do the 15% since we really weren't getting true service. (No waiter taking our order, asking for refills etc) My husband ordered the Carnitas wrap which wasn't too bad and I got the Pesto wrap which was not that good. I also ordered a margarita which was the worst I have ever had and my husband had a Romaro Mexican lager which was horrible. Neither of us finished our drinks. I do not like leaving negative reviews, but we rely so heavily on them ourselves that I don't believe skipping on doing a review because the food and service was not good helps anyone. read more

Walk up and order, very no nonsense but friendly staff, also very quick. Pizza dough was meh but topping were generous. Cubano wrap Was filling and tasty.. Not sure about the tortilla holding it all together but we ate it and it was good. My IPA was freaking amazing. If I didn't have to drive back through the windy mountains to our hotel, I would've had a second one . The patio is small and crowded and hard to find a seat (it's a popular place) so we sat on the most awkward table me and my hubs and two kiddos. For where you're at (Beautiful views abound and a rugged sort of crowd and feel), it's pretty good. Will I reminisce about the food? Not likely... But the beer and The view, yes. read more

After a long day of driving and hiking, I wanted a nice relaxing and hopefull healthy lunch, and this place was exactly what I needed. Fresh quality sandwich on a toasted bagel with an excellent latte, nice decor, relaxed atmosphere, and wifi. The owner/operator/chef was very friendly and her concern for high quality of food and customer service was apparent. Came in for dinner after a trail run and we were so disappointed. The menu looks delicious and we ordered 2 different tacos, Al Pastor and Cauliflower. The cauliflower was so bland we actually didn't eat them. The Al Pastor was okay but for pork was on the dry side and not as flavorful as I would expect. The guy next to us ordered a quesadilla that looked so sad even though the description makes it sound wonderful. The beer is fine and the service was friendly. We visited a friend in Silverton and came and had an amazing dinner at Avalanche Brewery. They have wonderful daily specials. We were greeted with warm smiles and faces from the friendly staff and locals. Highly highly suggest trying multiple beers. I bought quite a few for gifts and such and I regret not buying more. All I got was a coconut margarita which was ok, but some of the staff was incredibly rude. Dropping F bombs because they brought us the wrong order. They came over 3 times to insist we ordered Al pastor tacos (which we didn't). She even brought the computer over to our table to show us that we ordered something and while reading the order, realized it wasn't ours.
