I got a Hugo spritz this time which was nice a refreshing! We tried the meatballs (super juicy and the bread was fluffy and delicious), pickle cream cheese bombs (recommended by the best server Quinn) were fantastic and then we had to get some dessert to go! We spent our whole time at the river bar this time and left with fully belly's! Quinn's the best server, he's so friendly and has great recommendations! He is super attentive even with having so many tables to tend to!

Their wine selection is excellent and thoughtfully curated, with something for everyone. The food is consistently delicious with an impressive variety on the menu, and the appetizer selection alone is worth stopping in for. What really sets Garlic Mike's apart is their ability to handle a busy restaurant atmosphere while still delivering attentive, friendly, and professional service. Even on the busiest nights, the staff makes you feel welcomed and well taken care of. A true Gunnison gem and a place I love coming back to again and again.

SUMMARY: Mediocre food…read more Despite the great reputation, well adorned facility, stellar location, and impressive menu, everything I ordered proved consistently disappointing. Calling this food ordinary is, at best, an overstatement. At each turn, my efforts invoked in salvaging the (food) entries was met with failure. Starting with a simple Caesar salad, the lettuce tasted several days old. Drenched in ordinary tasting salad dressing, the romaine lettuce became soggy from the presence of excessive dressing. The dressing was too strong in taste, akin to store bought lower priced varieties, and from this, proved difficult to eat. The portion was generous, however. WARNING: Do not order the minestrone soup. To explain: The minestrone soup proved ultra disappointing. With the amount that I paid, $12, for a bowl, I was expecting it to be of meal-like quality. Instead, it was also challenging to consume, being so vinegary, possessing a handful of some tomato slices and little else. It arrived lukewarm. Instead of ample carrots, beans, celery, onion, etc., with typically a delicious broth, all that I could detect was slimy tomato slices in a pool of vinegar. The "chef" needs to study quality minestrone soup recipes and completely start over, especially if customers are charged $12 for such. I was so looking forward to a quality and hearty minestrone soup. I haven't tasted anything so pathetic yet simultaneously overpriced, in years. Have they tasted this? It pains me to speak so passionately about something like this. But it was a disaster. The house bread? It was crunchy, also seeming to be dated, not stale, just not fresh. It wasn't warm. It was dry. The garlic butter was fine, but following the theme, ordinary, at best. I tried everything to make at least the bread come alive, heaping massive piles of garlic butter on it. Nothing could rescue the bread either. No olive oil was to be found anywhere on the table or tables in my vicinity. Very friendly staff was present, but their inexperience and lack of polish became annoying. Whatever virtue that the "soup" might have had was lost as it got even colder while she was talking ceaselessly to me. Yes, it arrived lukewarm before she was conversing. Friendly service, even if awfully informal, can't compensate for such a poor price - value relationship and mediocre food. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Perhaps they do a superior job on pasta dishes. Yet, upon perusing the menu, I couldn't find just a small or half portion of spaghetti. A jr. high aged boy near me somehow managed to order a small plate of spaghetti. While it looked ordinary, such would likely have proven sufficient tonight, even if such was likely only available on the children's menu. If this restaurant once served fresh and delicious food, something, at least of late, has woefully gone awry in the kitchen.

The noise level ruined the whole experience. I measured the db on my watch and it was typically mid 80's. I even saw a reading of 90 db! This means wait staff should be wearing hearing protection! The owners need to invest in some sound dampening panels or other technology. Food was average. We had a Cesar salad which was quite flavorful and crisp. We also had the elk cannelloni which was bland. I would not recommend the restaurant until the noise issues are addressed and perhaps try a different menu selection.

The fixed menu was good but there were some regular menu items I would have liked to try more that were not available. Btw, there were other families with kids there as well so we did not feel like we were crashing a couples night. My mushroom pasta was delicious but I would probably not order again, it was extremely mushroomy which is not what I usually go for. Still glad I tried it, as it wasore appealing than the other options. The caprese salad was my favorite, large portions and beautiful presentation. The caesar salad was well done and tasted homemade. My Italian old fashioned was *amazing*! The steak and mashed potatoes were cooked well. The included prosecco was a nice touch but I didn't drink it, it gives me a headache. There was a kids menu and they enjoyed their butter noodles. The dessert options were good, a bit uninspired: strawberry cannoli and blueberry cheesecake. As someone who typically detests cheesecake, this was excellent. Had less of that gross cream cheese texture I despise and more like a pound cake texture. Ambience was classy and they had lots of holiday decor and photo ops. Attentive service. Would go again.

This place was gorgeous a few years ago. But that lady had money. It's starting to look rode hard…read moreand put up wet. Nothing historical. Nothing special. Now it's just a 50's malt shop theme. It's was so classy and period accurate. Classy, nostalgic, Now it's a cheap teeny bopper jukebox memory. Why do California people come to Colorado and bring their Walmart plastic lifestyles. They should have just bought a trailer and lived more familiar lifestyle? Then they wouldn't have to sell that wrought iron fence that encompassed the property. Looks like their pawning it off piece by piece just to continue their delusion. If people come into this community and buy up historical properties, shouldn't they have to follow the rules of the Historical Society to preserve the historical value. But they try to live a lifestyle they can't afford. The buildings or properties are destroyed. History lost. Purchasers have a responsibility to follow the rules . So the historical society allowed them to take an original historic building built in 1892 and they got permission to turn it into a cheap 50's era malt shop? How is this in line with a home built in 1892? Dolores is turning into Durango. There are all locals if you ask, but they've only been in Colorado 6 months. The Dolores river used to run on the N side. When it was redirected for the dam it changed. But someone told me that a non local bar owner was telling people that never happened. Sure. He's probably thinking he never saw that. Yeah bro. The deal is being an implant he doesn't realize, it happened before he moved to Dolores few years back. But once nobody from Colorado lives in Dolores then they can all lie to each other about how 'local' the former tourists are. Dolores used to be true to it's people. Now it's a little yuppie implant village.
