Each chair had a nice blanket available if needed. Our server Marissa was very nice and prompt. Marissa asked us if we wanted still or sparkling water, we asked for still. We looked at the wines by the glass menu and ordered two glasses of the sparkling Rose Pinot Noir. $24. This was actually delicious. We decided to split the Alpino Vino Signature Grilled Cheese Sandwich with the Organic Tomato Gorgonzola Soup. $32. We also ordered an extra tomato soup since we split the sandwich. The grill cheese sandwich was lacking cheese but had plenty of pesto, arugula and tomato. The tomato soup was served cold and no taste of the Gorgonzola. A big dash of oil on top. The food was a definite miss. When the bill arrived, we also noticed a $10 charge for the still water. Had we been informed we would be charged for still water we wouldn't have ordered it. We had our own with us if we had known. The water price is not stated on the menu. There is also a 5% culinary service charge added to all checks and $6 to split the sandwich. This is notated in the bottom of the menu. So, while it is a cool location and beautiful views if you are privileged enough to sit outside, the food was a definite miss and the extra charges were petty. I will say we saw the charcuterie board pass by and it looked delicious. Marissa was nice but could have informed us of the $10 for a couple of glasses of water. You should not have to spend your meal feeling uncomfortable because of the way a staff member is interacting with your table. Good customer service is about more than bringing food and drinks to the table. It is also about understanding personal boundaries, behaving professionally, and making sure customers feel welcome. The biggest issue with our experience was the behavior of one of the waiters. His interactions with our table crossed boundaries and made the situation uncomfortable. Instead of being able to focus on our meal and enjoy our time together, we were left dealing with an interaction that should never have made us feel that way in the first place. There is a significant difference between a waiter being friendly and a waiter making customers uncomfortable. When an interaction makes customers uncomfortable, it can overshadow the food, the atmosphere, and everything else the restaurant has to offer. This experience also highlights why personal boundaries matter in customer service. Being a waiter involves interacting with many different people, and every customer deserves to feel safe and respected. Staff members should recognize when their behavior is unwelcome and make sure they are not crossing boundaries. A restaurant visit should be an opportunity to relax, not an experience that leaves customers wishing they had chosen somewhere else. Overall, my experience at Brown Dog Pizza was disappointing because the interaction with the waiter negatively affected our meal. We chose the earlier seating because we understand that a tasting meal is spread out over a long period of time. It turns out the early seating must be something new for them and we seated on a patio all by ourselves. In retrospect, I should've spent more time on their website. The website only list the later seating which is why I am sure they are trying something new with the 5:30 PM seating. As I said, we were seated on a patio that was not particularly well kept. I had a view of a ladder and an exhaust fan. The rest of the furniture was pretty haphazardly arranged. Some of the plants were almost dead, and there was a lot of plant debris in the corners. This is something a good sweeping would've taken care of. The first three courses came out extremely quickly and it became obvious that they wanted us out by 7 PM. The 7 PM seating starts with a glass of wine on the patio and then the diners are invited inside for their meal. So as we were completing our meal guests had started to wander out on the patio to have their cocktail. The whole thing was really uncomfortable. The service and the wine pairing were good if not, a little rushed. The wine pairing was extremely well priced and he really knew his wine. It was a high point. At a restaurant at this price point one would expect fine stemware changing with each type of wine, but that was not the case here. The stemware was thick, stemmed and heavy, the type you would expect at a casual dining restaurant like Applebee's. We have dined at Michelin star restaurants and I know many reviews compare this restaurant with other Michelin star restaurants. I find this a bit unbelievable. In the past we've had tomato soup, their burrata, and seasonally they do like a fish board. It is well worth the money. One small note for our most recent visit of October 2026. They tried to pull a scam on our bill. We ordered Manhattans and asked for whatever their Well liquor was. When we got the bill, they charged us for a more expensive bourbon at essentially $26 a glass. When we asked one of the other bartenders, who worth noting, was not our original bartender, he looked it up and said that our drinks should have been $18. When we called that out, our original server/ bartender came back and said oh, we'll comp you the a drink to make up the difference. However, it was still over $30 over charged. One of the managers came up to us obviously seeing the problem. We explained to her and she ended us comping us a couple of drinks and fixed the bill. While that was the right thing to do, we were more than happy to pay them the right price of the drinks in the first place. So this is just a general note, and especially here, always check your bill. We'll still come back, because I refuse to believe it's a general problem and likely a single staff member problem. But it's disheartening when it's presumed a certain something, specifically, people don't check their bill around here because it's presumed a certain economic staus. And you're just going to slap down your credit card and pay and walk away. It's worth noting that in our previous visits we've never had a problem, everything has been correct, it's been a stellar experience and it's been nothing to complain about.
