I should have written this review decades + years ago. I'm a now retired graphic designer and started using Autumn Press when I was living in Cleveland, two years before moving to California. The level of professionalism and attention to the tiniest details is unsurpassed by dozens of printers I'd used in the past. My ass was saved once when I designed a very fancy, expensive invitation to a corporate event. It had a unique fold. Because I never made a mockup, my name (I always typed my credit on what I designed) appeared blatatantly on the very front of the invitation in tiny, but very noticeable 7 pt. type. Mike, the prepress guy caught this, called me and placed it on the back. Another time, a period was missing in the text and it was caught. Autumn Press is a dream printer. Even the few times when his price was higher than other quotes, I chose customer service and exactitude over cheapness. Miguel and Terry are ace-boom-cooms! Lifelong friends of mine. read more

Miguel at Autumn Press is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive. I never felt "pressured for a sale", and he continued to give suggestions for best practices for our mail program and budget needs. Can there be more than 5 stars? These guys ROCK! I was seeking a local green printing company for my business cards and am SO happy I found Autumn Press! I called them at 8pm for a rush order and they followed through immediately - a box of 100 cards were in my hands the very next day for my event! After mentioning that I needed a slight tweaking of the card - no surprise, considering how quickly it all had to get done - they let me walk away w/ my box of cards at no charge, saying, "we'll figure it out later" --- who does THAT anymore? After sending them new artwork from my artist to aid in the tweaking, I picked up my perfect batch of 250 cards and could not be happier! There is more to this story . . . I did not find Autumn Press when searching for: "local green business cards" :( Only one company popped up and what a profound waste of time they were! For a box of 250 cards that needed to be: linen paper, rounded edges, color matching, and of course soy ink and recycled paper they quoted me . . . . . . . . get ready for this. . . . . . . . $680.00!!! I felt like I was in the twilight zone and had to listen to the voice mail 3 times to confirm that I heard correctly - this on top of waiting & playing phone tag for 2 weeks! With Autumn Press, there was never any waiting or phone tag. I don't know anyone who would pay $680.00 for 250 business cards, so I was very pleased with paying $154- to Autumn Press for 350 linen, soy ink, recycled, rounded edges and color matched cards! Wow, I am so glad I found this print shop! I used to do my printing over the internet, since it seemed more convenient and easy, but not so! Autumn Press has an outlet right on Mission Street around the corner from me, and they rock! I had some business cards printed, and the color wasn't quite right, but I was going to let that go because it was close enough. Next time I talked to them and mentioned it to them they were really apologetic, and they took full responsibility and redid it right. I really appreciate that kind of business ethic. So a few days later I needed some postcards printed, and they turned that around in less than 48 hours on very short notice, like: It's Tuesday night, I can have the art work to you by Wednesday night and can I have it Friday? And that was a "No problem". The service is absolutely awesome. The internet is overrated. Go to the real people! read more

They are friendly, professional, and union. Theresa is highly responsive and friendly, and the whole staff with whom we interacted seems extremely competent. They offer competitive prices (even competitive in relation to the big-anonymous-send-a-PDF-type places that are running mom-and-pop printshops into the ground.) I used them for a brochure for work, and they always responded to calls quickly, gave me multiple options, and (when their digital option was actually cheaper than the offset that we'd chosen, and they thought our job was a good candidate for digital printing), they gave us a free proof to double-check. The colors were rich and sharp. They are open to all sizes of orders (we were printing 800 items, and have another job coming up that just needs 200 units printed), and they don't snub their noses at it. They also saved us a lot of work by splitting our order onto different paper stocks (and doing a second fold on the thinner stock.) That's not the kind of complex order/variation that you can get from one of the big places. We'll be back! read more

Miguel Alson and his team of great people are as good as it gets! In addition to being a green and unionized print shop, they are prompt about getting to your order and will print and deliver at great prices. Yes, these prices may be a little higher than other printers in the area, but the fact is, you know they are paying their people affordable prices. I'm all for paying people decent wages as we are in the Bay Area. My nonprofit has been working with Autumn Press for the last 7 years or so, my boss likes to call them family. Every year, Autumn Press prints out invitations and program books for our annual fundraiser. Sometimes, I have a time crunch on my end, and don't send them the order till Tuesday night. They still get it delivered to me in San Francisco on Friday morning, and don't charge extra. I really appreciate this as my nonprofit can only afford so much. **In regards to the people saying they're not capable below, I've never received spam and my orders have never been wrong. As long as you stay in email and phone communication with Autumn Press (and I'd assume you would be for a print job, those some people like those below probably were unclear), you will be in good hands. read more

Nice guys. Not very capable. I had 120 postcards that needed to have a design printed on the blank side. When they called to say the cards were ready, they failed to mention that they had only printed 80. Only after I picked up the cards and went through the invoice did I notice myself that the project was incomplete. When I asked how they lost 30% of my order, they're only response was that I must have only given them 80... I had to then buy more postcards (which of course they didn't offer to pay for) so they could finish the order. When I returned to pick up my full order, they had magically found some of the original 120 - clearly a sign that I had given them more than 80. However the continued to deny any role in losing the cards. All in all it took me 5 trips to get this project done and at additional expense due to having to repurchase more cards. The work that the did complete was fine, properly spaced, and used the correct colors and clearly have won awards for large printing projects, but if my order was too small for them to properly execute, they shouldn't have taken the job. read more

They are super easy to work with, their site has great template tools you can easily download, I was able to upload my files to their ftp super quick.. they're union. Not only did they get me started with a dynamic designer, but then they took me through all the steps from how they would print my campaign signs, format my mailing list, print my mailer, and send it out on my target date to reach voters right before the election. They walked me through all the options in terms of quantity and size so I could decide the best option to fit my budget. OMG, their service is unlike anything you see these days. Miguel has always been extremely responsive and meets our needs for quick turnarounds, last-minute changes with orders, etc. The quality of the finished product is always superb. My organization, EBHO, has sent a lot of jobs to Autumn and we have had a few hiccups with proofs or with delivery times but given the volume of work they do for us, they have really performed very well. They give us competitive quotes, work well with our graphic designer, and make it clear that they appreciate our business. We will continue to use them as one of our go-to union printers. read more

5 STARS! This is the best service I've gotten from a company in the Bay Area in 12 years. Helpful, thoughtful, they went out of their way to work with me. Autumn Press found me a great paper, trying 2-3. They worked to get me the good/right colors, running 2-3 different proofs. They sat with me and ironed out all my elements. Do not use this company if you want to print out business cards! We uploaded our business card image to them and they sent us a proof which looked fine. We then ordered 1000 business cards that came out horrible! First the color was faded and blotchy. Also the cards were way thinner than the proof they sent us. I give them an extra star because they realized their mistake and printed them out again. However, the second batch was stil way too thin. A lot thinner than the proof given. If you want professional looking/feeling business cards made, go somewhere else. read more

This is the first time I felt compelled to Yelp about a business! The staff at Autumn press were amazing! I was trying to find a company that would print my project on an HP Indigo printer, and called them because I had seen their shop. Susana was amazing, incredibly patient and helpful. Most places this big would have turned down my project, the folks at Autumn Press were extremely graceful- they even helped me with discussing binding options. They worked around m schedule, allowing me to drop-off and pick-up stuff at odd hours. What else can I say, incredible, polite and friendly service.
