In my laymen's experience summertime is a killer for batteries here in Houston. So, it died after two years of service, AAA gave the car a jump start and autozone seemed to be the nearest affordable batteries dealer. I got an absolute steal, price wise. It was not a battery that fit the carmakers recommendation but with the great help of staff and the manager we found one that fit. The apprentice had quite some difficulties to find the right tools, disconnect and remove the old battery. And, he shortened the new one while trying to install it. Apparently the "+" and "-" sign on the battery have a meaning after all. The car did not start. Help, in form of the manager was summoned and he bent himself backwards to make it whole again. Took some time to find the right fuse, and the car started again, but engine light, connector and AC were not running. After some more troubleshooting and finding another two blown fuses in a different fuse box the damage was repaired. I highly recommend this location. I was just treated right. Mistakes can happen, to repair them was a matter of honor and customer service. My tip-offer was declined, they said it was their mistake all along, The least I can do is to leave a good review here. I've had a series of bad experiences here so I should update. The first happened a few months ago when I asked to have a check engine light checked. The younger Asian looking fellow behind the counter said "aw sorry, our tester doesn't work"...ok. It seemed odd because they sell a whole bunch of testers that they can just open if that's the case so I went to another store by Fondren and the lady there gave me the wrong code from a different car! (i guess she forgot to reset it and didn't read the code from my car) and I ended up changing a stupid crankshaft sensor that I didn't need. Then after that, the 2nd reman alternator I got from them died and I literally had to push my car to them and asked them to test it. They said 'we can't test it because your battery is dead now" and told me they could only test it if I had a new battery. They saw my car was dead and I was going to change it right there, but they didn't tell me they could test the damn thing if I took it out so I ended up wasting 2 hours to go get my battery which was still under warranty elsewhere. Total nightmare of a day. So then with a new battery and another worthless reman alternator, I thought I was set, but my autozone battery terminal that I had bought 8 months earlier just snapped off. This time I wised up and got an OEM from the manufacturer. So cautionary tale, Autozone sucks. Buying electrical parts from them is like buying anything from Wal-Mart. Sure, buy your oil and windshielf wipers from them, but their electrical parts, especially Duralast re manufactured parts are a disaster. read more

A couple moths ago by accident I left my car lights on and because of that it drained my car battery, I took it to auto zone on Westheimer for charge and after a couple hours they told me that my battery was bad and that I needed a new one, instead of buying a new one I took it somewhere for a second option since I knew that my battery was dead due to me leaving the lights on, the other auto parts I went to which was NOT auto zone, they kept my battery for charging and when I picked up they said that my battery was good and since then I been driving my car and my battery still working good. read more

Third time going to this Autozone; always a great experience. Anna is an absolute doll! I went their today around 3pm because the bulb blew out on my cars headlight. Anna helped me immediately, did not try and up sell me on a more expensive product I did not need, replaced both bulbs for me free of charge, helped remove the erosion from my battery (also free of charge, provided excellent customer service and did all that in like, 15 minutes (maybe less). When I went to tip her she said, "that's not necessary; leaving positive feedback/reviews helps us all." Mind blown!!!! Wow, what a great example of amazing service! I walked into Auto zone today in need of help. I was improperly greeted by a female employee. She said to me "What do you want!" I said excuse me. And she repeated herself with an attitude. I asked, is there's someone else that can help me? She rolled her eyes, and said he's over there. As I waited for help, I said to the lady that wasn't a proper greeting, I found it to be rude. She just smiled at me disregarding my feelings. Then she mumbled under her breath saying you bitch! I asked here did she called me a bitch, she replied saying "maybe" I felt extremely disrespected. Showed up here 3:45pm today to get the battery checked. Car was not cranking properly when starting. Purchased the battery here in June of 2018. The guy said it was probably the battery but they did not have a tester, because theirs was broken and has been for awhile. He tried to just sell us a battery. When we asked where we could get it tested he directed us to another AutoZone on Fondren. We went to that store and an Afro American woman checked the battery and said it was OK, it was probably the alternator or something else. She suggested we take it to a mechanic. So we drove it to Bellaire to my mechanic and he checked it and said the battery was bad. Since we were supposed to be getting $68 back on the old battery, we went back to this store on Westheimer. We were gone about an hour and 30 minutes and talked to a new guy and he said yes they had a battery tester there. He tested the battery and said the battery was bad. So we got a new battery from him. Very upset about the first guy here lying to us about not having a tester (just too lazy to do the work?) and misdiagnosis and misinformation from the other AutoZone on Fondren. And all the wasted gas and time spent running around. read more

I went by the store and asked if they sell defective batteries and I was told "No", well you just lied to me because you do sell'em and was told that they test them before selling them. The convenience factor aside, the staff is very helpful especially in my case cuz I know diddly squat about mechanic work. The commercial side is always on call and prompt on thier deliveries. This location is probably one of the worst branches of auto zone I've ever been to. Zero customer service. They just rush you of to whoever is available so they can get rid of the next person in line. The person who is responsible for battery checks is very uneducated about batteries. I felt like he was just trying get rid of me. And because I'm a woman he probably thought he can just tell me anything & I'll just leave. He said he didn't have the tools to remove my battery( when autozone is who installed the battery with those same tools in the first place) then when I asked what am i supposed to do with a dead battery since he claimed to not have the proper tools needed to remove it he said "he doesn't know, people steal their tools". Then I asked to speak with the manager then all of a sudden those same missing tools appeared. Definitely never coming back to this location. read more

Being a francisee, I always thought all Autozones were good. But I was dissapointed with this one. The staff is a little slow. No one really asks you if you need some. Once you figure out where things are located in thi shop, they take their own sweet time to ring you out. I needed a spare part for my car.The manager here said that the dealership would me charge me a lot to replace it. Then he brings in a (puerto rican) man from outside who he recommends and says he will do a good at 1/3th the cost. And the part being from Autozone, I don't have to worry. Being foolish, I accept his offer only to realize the man didnt do a good job. When I went back to the shop to speak to the manager, he says he can't be responsible for non-Autozone employees! Hyprocrisy I say but I have learned my lesson. Next time I will go to Fondren rather than get cheated here! read more

I went this morning to switch out one brake light bulb but it turned out that it was actually three of them that weren't working correctly. A man named Joel helped me and I have to say that he gave me the best experience at an auto zone I've ever had. I told him what was wrong and he immediately came out to my car, took out the bulbs from my tail lights, grabbed the ones I needed, checked me out, and installed them himself. He felt like a dad showing me how to install the lights and he taught me about the bulbs themselves. I learned how my bulbs worked now. He recommended me replacing all 4 because they weren't working correctly. As soon as I installed them my lights worked and looked way better. Thank you Joel. So so much. If anyone goes to this auto zone he's a older Hispanic guy with white hair and his name is Joel. He definitely knows his stuff. read more

My car had problem starting and I heard Autozone can test for free if the battery is bad. The person who helped me was Michael. He is very genuine and patient. He first used the tester which showed that my battery was bad. Then he brought a jumper to make sure whether my battery was bad or not. Throughout the entire time, he was willing to work with me and not making me feel pressured to make decisions at the time. The price he said to change the battery is also very comparable to other autoshops I know. Michael is great! I will go back again. read more
