Apparently, the items were by mistake sent out without being checked over for defects. The company acknowledged this and credited me for their mistake. They did advise to always get pictures emailed before ordering from a salvage yard which will be very helpful to anyone who orders. Since I couldn't remove the rating from before , I wanted to give credit to the staff who graciously helped resolve the issues with our order. Very clean store, however I only have two things I look for in an auto parts store and this store…read moredoes not meet either of those criteria. First, I need you to have the part that I need in stock, preferably that day. Secondly, I need to get me through the checkout process in a reasonable timeframe, preferably quickly. I went in for oil and a filter and it took nearly an hour to be checked out. I found the staff behind the counter to be unknowledgeable of their own store stock and pricing. I was assured that the oil I purchased had a rebate to go with it but was never given the rebate form. When I have returned to try to get products off-the-shelf they never seem to be in stock. I've also had other experiences where I've had to wait in line for extended periods of time. It seems as though the store is understaffed and the staff is undertrained.

When our local KIA dealer told us a required repair would cost over $1,400 we went to Smithsburg Auto for a second opinion. They fixed the car right away for $1,000 less!! The check engine light came on in my mom's 2002 Hyundai Elantra. We remembered seeing free check…read moreengine light testing at AutoZone, so we searched for the nearest one. It was less than two miles away so, we were on our way since the car felt to be functioning properly. When we arrived, I walked in and asked if I could get a check engine light checked. Someone shortly came out with me, hooked up the monitor and read the code. We walked back inside and he provided me with a report that identified the faulty part including the price and that they had it in stock. The report identified the MAP sensor and explained its purpose. It is part of the emission controls on the vehicle. Since I had an idea what it was, I decided to wait so that I could check out some other things. Emission controls items are normally not critical in the short term and I was confident we could drive the vehicle a while without a major problem. This is a very helpful service which we really appreciated. There were also other customers there for the same service - thanks Autozone!
