We took our Toyota to Beall's Auto Repair for a brake job, but it was a terrible experience. His…read morebill was substantially higher than he said it would be, yet he said he did not run into any unexpected problems or need for additional parts or service. He simply said it would cost us more and we had to pay it. Beall gave us a receipt only after we insisted, yet it didn't have anything on it regarding a warranty. Later, we noticed Beall had significantly overfilled the car's brake fluid reservoir -- and also left it uncapped, which caused the brake fluid to spill over. Beall's attitude was simply awful and unprofessional. Avoid.

The concentrated dye ran down the hose and onto his hands, legs, feet, shoes, socks, and shorts. As a result, the dye permanently stained and ruined his socks, shoes, and shorts. The dye was so difficult to remove that he had to use brake cleaner to get it off his hands. When he brought the issue to Doug's attention, Doug was dismissive and unwilling to take responsibility. He commented that my son's shoes were old anyway and offered only a few dollars toward dry cleaning the shorts. Doug's response was disrespectful and failed to acknowledge the seriousness of the problem. The car wash bays themselves are visibly stained blue, indicating this is not an isolated incident and has affected other customers as well. Despite this, Doug did not appear concerned about correcting the issue or adequately compensating for the damage caused. Beware, do mot use their care wash!!

Someone recommended he take it to Gateway Automotive in Thurmont, and I'm so glad he did! They were able to diagnose the problem, give him an estimate which was more than reasonable, I thought (Especially compared to costs in the DMV), and they got the work done right away. He was back on the road and made it to his destination in no time. They were really pleasant to talk with and you didn't feel like you were getting overcharged. My husband said he was going to recommend them to everybody, and having looked up their website and finding out about their business (and knowing somebody in the Frederick, MD or Thurmont, MD area might need a mechanic sometime, for routine maintenance or car repairs on Domestic and foreign vehicles), I wanted to recommend Gateway Automotive in Thurmont, MD. I love places that make you feel like "the customer comes first"! That is so hard to find these days, and some thing I didn't know... They work has a nationwide repair warranty, which is great since we don't live in Maryland. (No, I am not expecting anything to happen to the repair at all - It is just another "perk" for us as customers!)

I left D&J a voicemail at 4:30 on a Friday night to get a second opinion. He called me back within 15 minutes and explained all of my options better than the other shop and the car insurance company combined. Then, on Monday, once I had seen the car and taken pictures, he gave me a $100 solution to what the other company wanted $3300 for (and should have seen in the first estimate) and said another piece they claimed needed to be fixed was structurally sound. He offered to work with me to get secondhand parts to fit within my budget if I chose to salvage the car or drop the insurance claim- and I never paid him a dime for his services! I wish I would have taken our car to D&J instead of going through insurance and the other company. They are honest, communicative and truly have the customer's best interests in mind!

My vehicle was rear ended about two months ago. I contacted my insurance company to report a claim…read more They recommended I use Mike's Auto. I had my vehicle towed there that same night. I went the next day to get several belongings out of my vehicle. I spoke with Mike (owner) and asked him if my vehicle was totaled. (It was pretty close to being totaled). He laughed and said it was no where near being totaled, and it was only about 5,000 worth of damage. I used to work at a car dealership, I know how a body shop works. They don't want it to be totaled, no money in their pocket. I immediately called Bill's Auto Body and had my vehicle removed from Mike's and towed to Bill's. They did an estimate for 10,545.43. And it only needs to be 11,500 to be totaled. So YES, it was in fact very close to being totaled. Bill's were absolutely amazing to me!
