People like the owner of Autolab, Jason, are the reason it's scary for people to take their cars to a mechanic. If you usually hesitate to go to a shop but have been considering this one maybe because you don't know much about transmissions (like me) or whatever the case may be, please allow me to confirm your worst fears and save you the nightmare that I went through with Autolab. To be fair, I can't speak to their actual mechanical knowledge or ability (I will explain this further), but the level of negligence, disrespect, and unprofessionalism I was shown makes me glad they didn't get work on my truck. So when the transmission went out on my truck early April 2026, I decided (even though I do most of my own repairs) to take it to a shop to have it fixed since I don't know much about transmission. Autolab had really great reviews and I decided to give them a try. They were quick to diagnose it as needing a rebuild or replacement, and quoted me around 8,000 for that. To their credit they did try to help cut that down, finding a used transmission for 2,000 less or giving me the option to just bring them one if I could find it for less. I told them I needed a few days to get the money together for it, and they said no problem. So far so good right? Well after a week had passed and I realized I probably wouldn't be able to get quite that much together, I decided I should have it towed back home and put it in myself. My dad, who is part owner of the truck, paid the diagnostic fee and I called and told the shop I would let them know when the tow truck driver would come by for it. Well as soon as their fee was paid they moved my truck out to a 2 hour limit parking zone for 4 hours while knowing the plates on the truck were bad. The reason I know that they knew this was because on the first day they had it, they had called and said they had a momentary hiccup when they tried to look the vehicle up on their systems by the license plate and it didn't match so they used the VIN. Now it is certainly not their fault I had the tags from my dad's old Chevy Colorado on this truck and hadn't switched them over yet because the transmission went out and it didn't seem very urgent, but they lied to my face saying they had no idea the tags were bad. Regardless, I find it extremely negligent to park a vehicle that you have been entrusted with on a public street for any amount of time. Their argument was that the tow truck can't get it off if it's on the property, fine, but you wait until the tow truck driver is there to move it, not dump it on the street as soon as you get your money in a spot that you clearly can't even see from the shop since somehow nobody noticed it getting impounded later that afternoon, and I only found out about it when my tow truck driver arrived and told me he couldn't find the truck anywhere and no one at the shop knew about it or where it was. To me the least they could have done in this case was offer to pay the impound fee, since they were the ones who parked it on the street which I never agreed to, or even apologize that it had happened but instead the owner was short and rude with me, never once apologized, and just to top off the disrespect they blocked my number from their shop (and no, I hadn't been spam calling them or anything) so they wouldn't have to deal with it. I got my truck home from impound after several hundred more dollars that should have gone into getting it repaired. I can say for sure that this shop doesn't care about you or your vehicle. They care about money and once they realized there would be no further money in it for them all pretense of caring came to a very abrupt halt. They have no respect for their customers, and the extreme level of unprofessionalism makes me question if they actually did anything when they diagnosed it or if they just tell everyone they need a new transmission that'll be 8 grand. I took my car for an oil change. They charged me $140 for a simple oil change in a small car, didn't rotate my tires, and took four hours to do it. I didn't think I'd get my car back until the next day. On top of all of that, they acted like I was being rude when I called after 2.5 hours to check on the status of my car and gave me attitude when I picked it up at seven PM. One star? No Negative Fifty Stars! Avoid AutoLab at All Costs! I recently had the worst experience ever at Autolab Denver and the owner, Jason. From price gouging to shoddy workmanship, this place left me utterly disgusted. Here's why you should steer clear: Cost Comparison: $10,800 bumper repair job charged by AutoLab -AutoLab is $4,680 more expensive than a Certified Lexus Dealership for the exact same work that was abysmally done by AutoLab. Hourly rates at Autolab ($300) Lexus Dealership ($195) - Part markup of 100% where Lexus was at 0%. - For 16 hours of labor, he charged $4,800, Lexus would have charged $3,120 (AutoLab is $1,680 more) - Autolab charged me $6,000 for parts where Lexus would have done it for $3,000. Quality of Work: The craftsmanship was abysmal. I've seen better work from a 16-year-old with a wrench. I got my car back with visible screws--50 of them! Clearly, they can't even put in screws properly. They put 2 plastic screws in on the engine covers instead of 15, really? I find this way of communicating necessary to establish trust between two parties with a vastly different knowledge base. I drive a heavily modified diesel van, so it was necessary that I supplied some of my own parts. He bluntly (and fairly) established how this would effect pricing. My experience with Autolab was great (5 stars). The owner, Jason, was very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. I had a long standing oil leak in my Ford F250 7.3 liter diesel engine that was diagnosed and fixed. They also addressed several long standing issues that required attention. It has been hard to find a reliable diesel shop, but now I have found one. In addition I had a starter fail on the same truck and Jason got me in that day and the repair was done by noon. In short they quoted me thousands of dollars to fix things that were not even broke, tightened the oil pan bolt that has a plastic washer so tight that it stripped even with a boxed end wrench the next time I tried to change my oil, and they lost one of my lug nuts and replaced it with a smaller regular nut that my tire iron won't fit without even telling me so I'd be in quite a jam if that tire went flat before I happened to notice it. Would never trust with my vehicle

Potential Scam I took my truck in for warranty work on the engine and had to take it back multiple times after the fact potentially for reasons relating to the install. They told me that the company who provided the parts would pay to replace a faulty one that was causing the truck to leak oil. Auto lab told me the provider would not pay for labor costs though so they wanted me to pay for labor approximately $1300. When I called the parts provider they told me that was incorrect and they would be paying for labor costs. When I contacted Auto lab and confronted them about this inconsistency they said that they would not do the repairs because it was no longer profitable. It seems like they were trying to get paid twice for the labor costs, once from the parts provider who already acknowledged they would pay and once from myself. I also caught the owner in a lie when I went in. The initial story was that the parts provider was not going to pay for labor costs and then it changed to him admitting they would pay for labor costs just not as much as he wanted. PLEASE Take a moment to review all the negative reviews shows how much he cares about his customers in his responses!!!!My mercury was stolen and they towed it to Auto lab. They diagnosed it and replaced the switch door handle worked when i dropped it off when i got home i couldn't get out of the car. They Charged me more than the dealer quoted. Steering column covers fell off and they didn't even use the correct bolts to fix the switch (requires a bolt that can't be taken out for thieves.) Ant to top it off it was a Used switch. I had another mechanic correct the issue. I called and Jason the owner just blamed everyone else. Then Yelled at me when i told him i was seeking legal representation as a single mother its expensive enough with out being ripped off by some one making a quick buck. Ill be seeing them in court. Went to Autolab to get by Grand Cherokee ready for a cross-country trip after getting ripped off by the dealer on a repair that they failed to do correctly. Autolab fixed the problem, and also changed the oil in the process. In a fluke, the oil drain plug wasn't fastened back in all the way, causing oil to leak on my driveway. I called and talked to Jason the owner, who was extremely embarrassed, and sent out an ASE certified tech to my house to clean up the oil and fill my car back up with replacement oil. Bottom line: I've had probably a dozen repairs done with the guys at Autolab, and they've offered to have me bring my cars back in after a few days or weeks to make sure nothing went wrong with their work, free of charge. They stand by their work, and if there's a mistake, they make it right. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my repair needs. read more

Had a disappointing experience here. Was quoted 169 for a complete diagnostic (have gotten the same at other local garages for around 50), but told the diagnostic would be waived if I got work done. Spark plugs were the culprit as I suspected, and I was quoted 194 for plugs and wires (parts only), then later told (by a different mechanic) the wires alone would cost 194. Then the 169 diagnostic fee became the labor cost, which was of course not waived. I ended up coughing up the 169 because they had my signature. Went in because my A/C wasn't blowing. Their diagnostics first of all was around $250 which they don't charge if you use them to fix the problem. That's fine I thought. First full day into the job they've performed their inspection which consists of them examining everything from the cracks in my window to the joints in the wheel wells. No wonder it was so expensive! They then tack on more labor hours for all the time they spend taking pictures of ALL the problems they find in their multipoint inspection. They then told me it would be around $650 to fix the blower motor on my A/C. I drive a 2005 Toyota 4Runner and they said that that was 1.8 hours of labor. Watched a YouTube video and it took them 15 minute to unscrew a total of 4-5 screws and plug in a new motor. They run up the labor hours bc of all the time wasted inspecting everything on your vehicle. Their labor is around $225 bucks an hour which is INSANE! Took them all day to get a common part on one of the most popular vehicles in Denver. Total scam and will never go back! read more

I was charged IN FULL for a replacement part that DID NOT need to be fixed (if they actually looked at my car they would have known that) and then quoted me twice amount of money to get the problem fixed that I originally brought in and was charged for. Please be careful. You may be up sold on services and quoted prices for parts that are well outside the going market rate. If you hire AutoLab, be sure that you understand the service being performed, how much they are charging you for parts and for labor, and what the going market rate is for the service being performed. The bottom line here (and the reason for my two-star rating) is that I ultimately paid AutoLab a fair market rate for a competently performed service that was completed in a timely manner, but only after I questioned the original quote and declined what I believe to have been unnecessary (and expensive) additional services. You can read the rest of my story if you want all of the details. I had my wife's car towed to AutoLab on a Saturday. I filled out an online service inquiry and received a prompt phone call on Monday morning. I explained the problem and dropped off the keys Monday morning. Mid-day on Monday, I received a call with the estimate. AutoLab wanted to perform the repair on the issue that caused the breakdown as well as change the timing belt and the oil. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but the total estimate was $2,599. I was suspicious of a couple of things. First, I changed the oil the same day I had it towed to AutoLab. I changed it myself, so I know the oil was new, and I had driven less than 50 miles since the oil change. There was even a sticker in the window showing next change Feb 2017 or 181,000 miles. The car has 178,000 miles on it. Secondly, while I was grateful for the added inspection, I took the care in for a very specific problem that had nothing to do with the timing belt, so the estimate was kind of screaming, "upsell." The service advisor was patient when I told him I needed to do some checking. I asked for the parts and labor breakdown of the job that would be required to get the car back on the road. It came in at $1,470 or so, but he said he could do it for $1,300 of which over $1,000 was for the required part. I did some checking of my own after I looked at the car and knew what needed to be replaced. List aftermarket price for the part was around $600, and the dealer sells the original equipment manufacturer part for about $650. Indeed, the dealer I spoke to quoted me $950 total parts and labor for the job to be done at the dealership. Upon verifying the work to be done, I contacted AutoLab again. I informed them that the price they were asking for the part was over $400 more than what the dealership charges. That's almost double the going market rate. The service adviser said he'd do some checking, and the next day, he called me to confirm the dealership's price and match their quote for parts and labor. I ultimately had AutoLab perform the service because I didn't want to pay for another tow or for a $139 diagnostic fee on problem that was apparent as soon as the vehicle went up on the lift. (AutoLab would have won a third star had staff volunteered to waive or reduce diagnostic fees because the fault was so obvious once the vehicle was on the lift. I don't have a problem paying even $50 to put a car up on a lift, but $139 seems excessive in this case.) If I had not questioned and rejected the original quote or I did not know just a little about cars, I would have ended up paying $360 more than the going market rate to get the repair done. The excellent online reviews really made me want to trust AutoLab, but after my experience, I wonder if the owner knows what his staff is up to. At some point, I may encounter some unknown issue with my car that isn't as obvious as the one I had fixed at AutoLab. When that happens, I need to know that I can trust the mechanic to quote me a fair price for parts and not to attempt to sell me services that I do not need. Sadly, my experience with the overpriced estimate (for parts, not labor) and the recommended unnecessary work just isn't going to win AutoLab any repeat business from me. Pros: Approachable, responsive staff, timely repairs, final cost matched estimate given, guaranteed workmanship, Prompt response to inquiries, very good communication, offers courtesy ride to customer when repairs are being performed Cons: Recommended oil change that was not needed, tried to sell me timing belt job for over $1,000 (market rate is around $500), original quote for repair was way out of line with market rate (by about 30%), no cost savings compared to dealer. read more

I got charged 170$ for them to shake a tire and tell me I have a bad wheel bearing. Never have been charged a fee for a quote before but apparently they are hard up for cash. I took my car to this place as their review were very good and it was nearby my office. Had been experiencing alerts on my dash that my oil pressure was too low on my Audi A4. After having my car all day they said I had two oil leaks and quoted me $1800! I told them I would need to wait on that. They charged me $125 for diagnostics in order to get my car back. In the meantime I took my car to get a 2nd opinion. A mechanic my father has trusted for 20 years. This shop let me know there are NO oil leaks at all and I simply needed an oil change, which cost me less than your shop charged me for diagnostics only. I had a totally different experience than other reviewers. My hunch is: friends of owners. We tried to use them for our business. Our fleet of 5 vans. Twice the message wasn't communicated from phone and person who dropped off and they didn't even know where the van came from (they turned around and blamed us) Another time they fixed one thing but not the other. Again a communication problem on their end. Finally the straw that broke the camel's back. They offered the possibility of a loaner van. When I asked about it while we had a van in (busiest business day for us of the year) and needed an alternative, we were told they just needed to empty it out and it would be ready before noon. Call 1:00 because we NEED it. Told the guy is "at lunch". Later I got chewed out by the owner for trying to manipulate the employee. The loaner was OFFERED to me. Recently visited this shop for a second opinion on an engine issue and was given a grave answer for my car. After taking it to another shop, I found out that the issue wasn't what they said it was and I would have spent thousands of dollars to have something fixed that didn't necessarily need it. I'm rating them a 3 stars because the shop seems like it could be legit but I wasn't overly impressed with my experience. Update: our subsequent visits were less satisfying: another $900 bill and the next day after having tires changed the tire pressure light came on the next morning on our way out of town on a cross-country road trip. The next visit we made an oil change appointment that took over 4 hours. The woman, Misty who took care of us at our first visit was no longer working there either. Incredible in customer service and valuable education of the services my car required. Her comparisons were easy to understand and I felt confident in the recommendations given for the well being of my vehicle as well as the quality of service received. Misty even noticed my CarFax showed that I had recently received work that they had photos and knowledge to prove were not completed or not correctly completed by a chain auto shop I had last visited. She provided the photos and helped me understand what to say to the company. If they didn't offer me a reimbursement she offered to call the shop on my behalf! More than I've ever expected from an auto mechanic! I appreciated them going above and beyond to help me use the coupons and get my best deal. I am a 58 year old hard working woman who resides in Englewood. I am active in the local church and throughout the community. I work for a well respected family who owns many properties in Englewood and the surrounding area. I have been employed for almost 10 years and also freelance for other owners and businesses throughout the Englewood area. I do landscaping, cleaning and removal of unwanted items from properties. On Tuesday August 6,2018 I was working a job located off Broadway and Nassau. I noticed a jeep was backing a quite large recreational boat into the bay of Auto Lab from the back alley from where I was parked and had my bosses trailer on my vehicle. Not knowing who the person was in the jeep backing the boat in I went out to the alley just to make sure my bosses trailer wasn't in the way nor subject to being hit. The driver of the jeep ( JASON ) which I later found out was the owner of Auto Lab was yelling at his son to watch the right side.... I motioned he was ok and clear of any objects. JASON looked straight at me and said to me.... NOT YOU METH HEAD. I assured him he was totally out of line and that I had no Idea where he got his information and I was there doing a job. He then disrespected me again by stating I JUST WANTED MORE METH. We definitely exchanged a few unpleasant words between the two of us but not only was he disrespecting me but was allow such conversation to take place in front of his own children. I even challenged him to step out of his jeep and face me like a real woman instead of hiding behind the rude insulting words he felt he had a right to throw at me without any foundation. I told him I was on that property working and that I did landscaping. He then went as far as to say that my business was a front. WOW REALLY.... In then dawned on me just how many people in this community that I interact with and just how important it is for them to know what type of a person this man really is.... Later I crossed the street to go inside his office to gather up a business card with his name on it. HE was on the lot and came at me telling me to leave his property. I then informed his that my mission was to gather info on him and to blow up his business name and his name on every internet website available. He then came at me and said don't you know they smoke crack over there.... I told him I don't know what goes on there Im just moving stuff out and doing my job. I also told him he doesn't know me but we have meet before because I have several friends who have had cars fixed there. I personally am thinking to myself... well JASON make up your mind is it crack or meth , and how do you know so much about it.... I then demanded he apologize to me for calling me out my name. Jason then said I didn't say anything to you til you started yelling at me... WOW so no not only is he disrespectful but he is a Liar and doesn't own his own mistakes. I then made the statement to him that everyone that comes to bring their car in to be fixed he takes the time to label them as well.... NO COMMENT at that point fell from his loud egotistic mouth So before buying his toys and paying his cost for his oversized head and holier than thou attitude think twice on whom you do business with for there are far more humble and respectful people and owners to do a much better job. As a woman walking into an auto repair shop, I'm acutely aware that I'm susceptible to any number of scams, up-selling techniques, and price gouging. This was not the case at all when I came into Autolab. Immediately upon my entrance into the waiting area, I watched an Autolab staff person with immense patience listen to an elderly customer who spoke at length regarding an issue he was having with a different repair shop in town. The Autolab employee attended to this elderly customer intently and politely. I truly don't remember the last time that I witnessed this level of customer service at any establishment. When it came time for them to service my vehicle, I was provided with a detailed explanation of the problem (it turned out to be a quick & cheap fix) and I was blown away by how friendly, efficient, and honest they were. I was in and out in less than 2 hours (without an appointment, mind you) and the repair cost me $42. I've already recommended this business to a friend who was looking for a mechanic and the next time my vehicle needs servicing, I absolutely plan to return to Autolab. read more
