They managed to effectively handle the high amount of customers, all the meanwhile helping me with my car as well as helping me pull up and old receipt that i needed from a few weeks back. This was my first and last visit to an Auto Zone location. I tried to buy 1 item. The store was empty and there were 4 employees behind the registers. The employee (really big guy) behind the register I was at was doing something on the computer and didn't acknowledge my presence. After waiting several minutes for him to finish what he was doing, I asked him if the register was open. He said "no". This wasted 8-10 minutes of my day. I went to another register and stood in front of an employee doing something on the computer for another several minutes and they never acknowledged that I was there. Excellent service. I came in to get some winter supplies, and I may have been upsold, but I don't think so, and I feel more prepared--Winter Is Coming! I'd been looking around at heavy-duty floormats, and here they recommended a less expensive set and pointed out some good facts, like the deeper the grooves the more water would collect and freeze and stay in them, and if it's all plastic it might freeze up by the pedals and impede my driving. I ended up with a set for about $25 rather than the insanely expensive sets us seen online, and I still have full coverage. The guy helping me cane out to my car and put in the floormats to make sure they fit before I bought them. They had good, long snow scrapers and brushes for about $8, and some little knick-knacks I may be glad of, like a lock deicer and stuff to keep the gas line from freezing, neither of which was expensive. read more

They sold me license plate screws and the screw heads snapped off as I was tightening them into my car. When I came back in they refused to give me a refund because they needed the entire defective purchase to issue a refund. The clerk did not care that the problem I was having was due to the fact that the defective product I was sold broke off and was stuck in my car. This cheap product they sold me cost me $45 at a mechanic to have them drill out the screws. read more

After this exchange at the Shell gas station on North & Western: Me- I see your air pump is out of order. Could you tell me the closest location I could go to get some air in my tires? Him- It's out of order. Me- Yes, I did see your sign. Could you tell me where else I might be able to get air for my tire? Him- No. I didn't want to drive too far on a low tire, but saw this AutoZone a few buildings down. I figured they might have an answer of where to go. When I went in it was quite busy- it was a very cold/snowy Chicago day after all! When it was my turn I asked the woman if she knew where I could go. She suggested the gas station, to which I told her they were no help. She then suggested the options they had in-store, and walked me over to where their inflators were and showed me the options. I now am the proud owner of my own personal Tire Inflator, and will never have to ask a rude gas station man for assistance! Good Karma to the wonderful fellow who helped replace my battery yesterday evening. I had purchased the battery at Auto Zone back in July of 2017 and bought the warranty (definitely recommend doing this, be sure to hold on to your receipt). They seamlessly replaced my battery free of charge honoring the warranty, and not only that... the gentleman who replaced it re-bolted my battery into place and fixed my hood latch when he stumbled upon these additive issues during the install process. They've got everything you need for your car or they can get it in a day. The prices are pretty cheap. The quality of the parts they sell is also cheap so you really do get what you pay for. I would not recommend this for any commercial business but it is just fine for the DIY guy. read more

Went in here for license plate, I repeat LICENSE PLATE mounting parts. The first time they gave me product for the back plate. The second time they gave me something completely irrelevant and I brought my car in to show them what was needed. Third time I go back and they sell me another thing. I now have 3 products and nothing worked. I went to the dealership and they put it on within seconds for free and gave me the one item I needed correctly. I go back to return the now 3 items I have bought that failed to work, and tried to gather the items best I could with screws and bolts being involved and the man at the register doing my return decided to say "thanks for packaging them up nicely" I respond with I tried, and he says "but did you". I didn't need it, I had been trying to put on a front license plate for 3 weeks which should be the easiest request and 2 people told me wrong things then on top of it when I go to make a return I get comments made. I'll find somewhere else to go if god for bid I need anything else. Can't imagine they know how to do much more if they can't mount a front license plate. Save your time & $$$. read more

Oil was running low (hasn't happened before, new issue for me/my car). Of course the light came on as I was driving in to a 12 hr shift, with 4 more 12 hr days ahead of me. Doesn't make it easy to get car stuff done. Heading back into the city at 8pm found this autozone near me, open late! Went in, a couple of employees helped me figure out the oil I needed one of them offered to help me. He went out in the rain with me and helped me add the oil. (yes I needed help, it was the first time I needed to do it! But now I know and I'll be good on my own for the future.) Really nice, really helpful, and now I can safely get to work all week without killing my engine. And a free mini car maintenance lesson under my belt. Thanks guys! Customer service was top notch. Came here to replace my rotors and pads. This was easily $500+ in parts, since I have a bigger truck. Since my truck only had 35k miles on it, the guy said I could go without rotors (said to do the rotors every other break pad switch). So I ended up doing my brakes for about $125. Not bad since I was quoted well over $1,000 for all 4 wheels and rotors. I feel the guy went the extra mile here and im happy for that. read more

He sounded clueless and I had ask him to transfer me to someone else four times. I was placed on hold for five minutes only to learn that they do carry the exact battery that I was seeking. Decent selection of parts and fair prices, but checking out takes far too long. Every time I go to this store there is a long line of customers waiting to pay and several employees just walking around aimlessly or standing outside smoking. In addition, the cash registers apparently can only accept cash or credit car, but not both. So if the customer in front of you paid with cash and you want to use a credit card, then you have to move to a different cash register. This place is a mess: it needs new cash registers, new management, and new employees. read more

So I don't usually write reviews. But I recently moved to the area. I came to this location 2 weeks ago for a new battery. Guy was helpful and put it in for me. I left and then 3 days later my car wouldn't start again. I'm a single parent and work a lot. I don't have time to deal with this kind of problems with my car. So I had my Fiancé get car jumped and checked at auto zone. They supposedly checked the battery and did a test on the car to see if the alternator needed to be replaced. They told him it was the alternator. I finally found a way to get the work done but needed to stop at the shop to charge my battery so I could get it to the south suburbs. Today I went in and the same guy that put the battery I. The first time was the person I talked to first about needing to get my battery charged. It was busy inside. I was totally understanding when he asked me to wait a few so he could help few people pay behind me. I waited 30 minutes!!! He continued to walk around putting up new price tags. I've worked in the sales industry. I would have never continued to put up sales work if a client needed help. He mentioned 2 times within that 30 minutes that someone would be with me soon. Now finally the manager gets to my car and is very apologetic and told me he was sorry I had to wait till he was done helping another customer. He is the only reason I will ever go back to this location. Santiago put a new battery in and had to wrap metal around parts. He knew right away it was probably just the battery but tested the alternator anyway. Sure enough it was not the alternator. I would suggest not letting anyone else there help you with anything. read more

A manager named Santiago, went above and beyond with helping me on a silly need. The bracket on my license plate had been hit and cracked so it fell off. I had asked an employee if they install these things & she stated that unfortunately they do not. Then, Santiago walked over as I was asking questions about what exactly I would need to purchase to get my plate back on. He took the time to walk to my car, see which bracket I would need & even offered to install it for me (which, again, is not something they offer as a store). I was very appreciative, as I probably would have had to gone elsewhere to have someone do it since I didn't have the tools on my own. Patrick...where do I even start with you. I am really writing this review bc of him. My car wouldn't start and of course I went to immediate panic. It is old and I don't really want to put too much money into it. I first went to jiffylube on North ave. They said it was my battery and that it would cost $329.00 to replace. They also said my coolant was leaking and corroding some metal thingy...I don't know. I asked the guys at JL if I could sit in my car and think before I made any commitments. I called Autozone and Patrick answered. He had me crying of laughter within seconds. He told me to run far away from JL and that he'd be waiting to help me at Autozone and would find me a battery for a much more reasonable price. There are these rare moments in life when you come across people who are genuinely good. I don't mean hold the door open for you or smile when you cross paths on a walk good. I mean good in a way that a person is so deeply honest, kind and find happiness in helping others. In improving other peoples' lives. Sadly I don't know a lot about cars and i think that has a reason to do with why they tried to take advantage of me at JL. Patrick didn't speak to me like I was an idiot. He explained things several times and never got annoyed. He made me feel safe and that is pretty priceless. In times like this, all I have been able to think about is how bad things have been. Every day feels like a new level of hell. They took the time to come out to my car in the parking lot, put on the battery tested and told me that my battery was weak. They recommended the right battery for my car and even allowed me to use some basic tools to install it. read more
