Grace Automotive is exactly what you want in a neighborhood mechanic: knowledgeable, honest, professional, and kind. I've brought my car here multiple times, and each visit has been handled with clear communication, transparency, and respect. The team doesn't upsell or give you the runaround--they tell you what's actually needed, explain why, and follow through with excellent service. It's refreshing to work with a shop that values integrity and treats customers with genuine care. Highly recommend Grace Automotive if you're looking for skilled mechanics you can trust. read more

Been going to Grace Auto since I moved to the city a few years ago and they've always been helpful. This time I had a coolant issue and they got it fixed quickly and for a good price. Picked up a day after dropping it off. Sorin helped me out this time and was great. They called to update me multiple times, showed pics, and explained everything that was wrong in a way I could understand. read more

I consider myself lucky to have a mechanic like Grace Automotive in my neighborhood! I felt very comfortable talking with the team and they explained everything to me very clearly. I'm not a car expert, but I hate being talked down too, and I never felt that here. I also really appreciate that they're aware of my budget so they keep that in mind when we talk through their suggestions. I highly recommend going to Grace automotive for everything you need! Between them and my dealership I don't go anywhere else. read more

I love the people here. Greg is the sweetest and most helpful man there...Stanley too :P Grace has been there for a long time. Stanley has always helped my parents for as long as I could remember. When Greg came in, I was leery, but he is not only interested in your car, but getting to know his customers and community. If you need any help with your automobile, check him out first, I know you will not regret it! read more

They are extremely friendly and personable, and have always been able to fix issues at a reasonable price. The last time I visited the shop, I called day of for something that smelled like it was burning. The shop got me in and fixed the issue within 3 hours before a trip I had scheduled that I needed my car for. Thanks Greg and Eli! read more

I found my go to Automotive Repair Shop! i couldn't be happier! Great service, great work! great Experience. read more

Excellent customer service! Greg is great! Came in to have my brakes changed, he walked around the car and did a visual inspection and pointed things out. We took a short drive so he could get a better idea of my car complaint. Was texted photos of the issue - rusty rotors, then given a quote with full explanation of the services needed. Fair pricing - they changed all rotors and brakes for around what a larger chain quoted me for just the brake pad change. No icky or suspicious feelings dealing with this shop - they're honest and didn't try to upsell (which is great cos my car has lots of problems lol). read more

It was 1998 when I first started bringing my car to Grace Automotive for service. Stanley proved himself honest. He was careful to diagnose the problem, and recommend the most reasonable solution, and got it right the first time. There was never a sense that I was being uncharged. - When I came one day to find the shop was painted and renovated, I was not sure what to expect. Greg has also proven himself and the shop to be honest, to carefully diagnose the problem - and quickly solves it, and he stands behind his work. A shop like this is rare - hence my driving thirty minutes to come to this shop for auto maintenance needs. read more

It's like winning a small lottery when you're able to find a trusted mechanic. This is how I feel with Grace Auto! Everyone I've dealt with there is knowledgeable, friendly and very responsive. We've had a couple of family cars get fixed there and it's been quick (all things considered) and doesn't clean out the bank. I'm currently in the process of looking for a new (used) SUV and Greg is always available to answer any questions I have and give feedback. So appreciate! read more

Great service on my CX-7. They went above and beyond their duties, replaced all gasket and seals. Their mechanic is golden hand.

I've lived in Chicago for 18 years, and I've always found it so frustrating working with auto shops. I come from a small town where everyone knows everyone, so reputation matters. But here in the city, it seems like it's luck of the draw. Now we've finally found an auto shop with people who are trustworthy, efficient, and kind. Greg has gone above and beyond for us, from our first visit when someone stole our catalytic converter and he walked over to our house to help us figure out what happened, and most recently when he worked directly with the dealership on our behalf to get a major repair covered by the manufacturer. With all of our maintenance and repairs in between, Greg has been transparent and forthright with what is actually needed, a far cry from our dealership service department who badgered us to approve unnecessary work every single time we would visit. Greg truly cares about building a community and looking out for his neighbors. Victor is also very helpful and communicative. We feel very lucky to have found Grace and know our car will be in good hands for many years to come. read more

As a single female, going to an auto shop is the LAST thing I want to do. Grace Automotive was recommended by a friend who has been taking their car therefor years, and they did not disappoint. I don't even know where to begin, except to say thank you to the team at Grace Auto! Two weeks ago, I was wondering what I was going to do about my 2013 Audi because the list of suggested repairs from the dealer were so costly. Previously when I owned a Nissan, I had always been a customer of Grace Auto with Stanley in charge. I could always count on him for honest evaluations and great pricing (it was nice to see him and say hello when I was there!).. The super friendly team of Greg, Fernando and Eli evaluated my car for about a half hour, and estimated the repairs at a price that was beyond reasonable. My work was done while I was on vacation, and when I picked the car up on Saturday, Eli went through the list of repairs step by step. My car is now running like a charm! If you are looking for outstanding honest service, I highly recommend you contact Greg! Great work. read more

Grace Automotive is pretty much the best repair garage I've ever been to, and I'm not just saying that because I live within walking distance from them. I've been to many, many mechanics over the years, and few measure up to Grace; you'll rarely see me giving a five-star review to auto repair shops. As a VW fan, I've found those cars are allergic to indifferent mechanics and half-hearted repairs. And since I own both an MKIV Jetta and a '84 MK1 Jetta, I don't always have the space and ability to fix everything (try diagnosing a CIS K-Jet fuel injection system). Enter Grace Automotive. These guys know foreign cars, period. Look at their lot and you'll also realize right away they specialize in old VWs, including aircooled models. Stan know these cars as if they were made yesterday. And another redeeming quality of Grace are their prices. Stan will tell you what you don't need fixed, and he will charge you very reasonable prices for the work they needed to do. Very honest; just remember to bring cash or check when it's time to pay. read more

I brought my Dodge Dakota in for an issue I thought was the transmission. The mechanic diagnosed it as a transfer case and sent me pictures of the issue. The transfer case was completely destroyed and cracked. I ended up just junking the car because the repair wasn't worth it but I appreciate the honest assessment and diagnosis and for helping arrange the transportation of the car read more

Grace Auto is hands down the best garage in the city of Chicago. Stanley (the owner) is the consummate professional and one of the most honest persons I've ever met. Every mechanic there is highly skilled and extremely knowledgeable in both domestic and foreign cars. I have been going here for work on my very rare 1980's Mercedes Gelandewagens for over a decade and each time he does repairs they are equal or above the standards you'd expect in Graz Austria where they were built. This place understands engineering rather than relying solely on repair manuals, so they have no problems working with exotic vehicles that make other mechanics nervous. They work on modern vehicles as well, and I've likewise gone here for work on my BMW with excellent results. read more

I love Stanley! - ive been going to him for years. I am still driving a 15yr old car that he has maintained and tuned up for me over the years. I first came to him as a girl in my late 20s. - I had no male presence in my life at the time and was always weary of being scammed by a mechanic. But right off the bat - He was someone I felt I could trust to give me the best price and the best treatment. Every time I leave there, I know my car is in good shape... He treats me like he would his daughter and would never let me leave in an unsafe car. PS - Stan can be a little matter of fact.. but its all in love. :) read more

I've been having my 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio serviced by Stanley for many years. I can honestly state that Stanley is very trustworthy and will fix exactly what needs to be fixed and recommend what may need to be fixed soon or in the near future. If you're looking to walk into a fancy office, then this is not the place. However, if you're looking for an honest, reasonably priced mechanic you need look no further. Thank you Stanley for the fantastic service you provided me over the years! Theresa Rowe read more

These guys do it right! They run a shop like it should be run. You bring them your car, they give you an estimate, they do the work, and when you pick it up.... they SHOW you the bad parts they replaced and EXPLAIN exactly what they did and why they did it. Every mechanic should do this so A. You are more informed and B. You know they didn't just rip you off. And these guys don't, prices are totally fair and I'd recommend them to anyone, especially anyone with a Volkswagen. The only downside is that they don't take credit cards.... but every mechanic I've ever found like this didn't take cards, so you kind of just have to deal. 5 stars, no question about it. read more
