I don't have anything negative to say about this shop. They didn't repair my vehicle but they did correctly diagnose it and informed me of what repair was needed and referred me to dealer to do repair because they couldn't do it in their shop. They didn't charge me a diagnostic fee which surprised me a little since they did spend the time to determine the repair needed. The repair needed was a fairly expensive EPS module which would have cost a lot to have repaired new at dealership, so I opted to use a mobile mechanic and bought used EPS module off eBay to have them install. It worked out fine. I saved quite a bit of money going that route. I realize repair shops won't typically install used parts because of liability reasons so I understand why they felt compelled to refer me to dealer I may use Zepeda again for future services that do not involve electronics. These guys are efficient and honest. I've used them for both maintenance work (brake replacement, air conditioning, etc) and more emergency work (like when my check-engine light popped on). They've been able to fit me in quickly each time (often same day) and have redone work for free when a part they replaced broke under warranty. Zepeda is AMAZING! They did a bunch of work on my corolla a couple of years ago after I went 8 years with only basic maintenance. They were very honest with me about what urgently needed to be repaired and what I needed to keep an eye on but could wait to do. BUT where they really care through was when my car, sitting unused in the garage all winter, wouldn't start. I live a few blocks away and twice they walked to me, free of charge, to jump it. I'm pissed made a appointment for 10am dropped my vehicle off i like cool they are going to look at my car at let me know what's wrong and how much 5 hours later I get a call he says the mechanic is going to look at it at let me know what and how much ,so all that time my vehicle just sat in the street no parking lot here,I show up at 5pm there closing time had to pay $60 just so they could look at it ,I told him what the problem was at 10am he says nothing to me gives me my bill of $60 knowing they didn't do anything and when I get home there is a screw in my back tire had to pay for that this place needs to communicate better with customers i see all these reviews mostly women were writing good reviews i bet this one won't be Posted and no apo!ogy for wasting 5 hours of my day never will i go back or tell my friends to go there worst auto shop experience i ever had. read more

This place is an absolute gem. I have had my go-to shops but everything pales in comparison to this place. They manage to fit me in when it's a serious issue (and they are regularly very busy, understandably). Having dealt with dishonest shops and car dealers, this place is far and beyond the best and most honest. Recently I had a check engine light with cylinder misfires that they couldn't figure out totally as it resolved itself and didn't charge me for that, even after working on the vehicle for a decent time. This is a long overdue review but I think it should serve as warning to other women or anyone who doesn't understand cars. Zepeda tried to rip me off. I know this because I work on my car and know beyond the basics of repairs. Backstory: One summer my engine started to overheat and I had no time to look at it myself so I left my car with Zepeda to run some diagnostics. They told me the issue was the cooling (radiator) fan switch and quoted me $230 for the job. I asked the price of labor and the estimate time to complete the job just to fancy them. They exaggerated that it would take over an hour and the part was way more expensive than it really is... Hard pass After work I walked over to Autozone and grabbed the part for $22 and with a deep socket wrench, the job took me about 15-30 minutes tops. So Zepeda, I want to know, why in the world would you claim it would take a full hour and overcharge that much? This is completely unacceptable -- get with the times! read more

I've been going to them for about 3 years now and the guys that run the place are super friendly and the most helpful mechanics I've had. They do a great job of explaining the issues with your car without talking down to you (ladies, you know what I mean) and never try to push you do perform service or maintenance that you don't need. The only down side to their excellent service is that because they are so good and so busy, they may not be able to perform all of the maintenance on the same day, so plan accordingly. So far...so great! I didn't get the car back yet, but so far I'm completely impressed. We got an appointment easily and the most thorough diagnostic report I've ever seen in my life! They were able to quickly text me a link to a detailed report that included photos of any of the places that had issues. Every time I've called I have been able to get my questions answered promptly and in as much detail as I would like. I have spoken to both Carlos and David and both were great to deal with. They also do not take a long time to do a big job. I have Yelp to thank for finding this place...I needed to find a place near my daughter's Chicago location and the reviews Zepeda were outstanding. They called me about an hour later and said it was actually just a low pressure tire, but they had checked out the car and all the sensors just to make sure everything was fine. A few years ago I got an old Jeep. The first thing that went was the brakes. I brought it to a brake shop and just to get another opinion, took it to Zapeda. They caught something that the brake shop had missed, and I have stuck around since. When I moved to Albany Park, I started taking the Jeep to a 4x4 place only because it was closer to me, but they missed some details and I am now happy to be back with Zapeda. Meh. 2 stars because they are SUPER nice and helpful but man dropping my car off at like 830/9 told my car would be checked in around 930 and it would take about 1 hour to 1 hour and 1/2. Called around 1230/1245 because I haven't heard anything. Still working on it cool. Called AGAIN around 3 told it would be done by 330 and it was. But for 90$ for repairing part of a undercarriage shield and removing a rusted license plate screw / past tags. If I could do it all over again. I would keep shopping and not recommend this place. I will say again they are SUPER nice but the cost/ slow repair keep looking. Or maybe I caught them on a bad day. read more

I spent a few weeks checking out nearby auto repair shops to repair the timing belt and drive belts for a Honda Civic 2001. Why I like them: - Cheapest repair shop in Chicago - Honest - Reliable I compared quotes from Firestone, Logan Square Auto, Oscar's, Tico's, and Carr's Honda. Zepeda was a small repair shop but they gave me the very best price! Not only that, but I came one Saturday morning and they finished the belt replacements, water pump replacement, and spark plugs by the end of the day. They had the old parts and showed me how they need to be fixed. Moreover, the guy at the front desk showed me on his computer a fancy website with 3D models of car parts. He showed me how they worked. It was a nice gesture so I wanted to mention it here. Overall, I would go here again for major repairs for the cheapest price. read more

TL, DR: They're good for mechanical issues, but not electrical I've had some work done there before and happy with it, but never anything electrical. The car was brought in with generally weird behavior (temp sensor not working, radio not turning on, tachometer turning on and off intermittently). They discovered standing water underneath the carpeting on the floor. A particular control module and it's wiring harness had been submerged. First off, rather than debug the root cause of the water, they tried going straight to a solution of repairing the wiring harness and even then, they only tried to address two very obviously corroded wires. If that is the root cause, that's rather pointless work, unless you identify why the car had water to begin with! They told me this submerged module was the culprit and suggested a new one ($590). Long story short, another shop fixed the water leak first, then the ENTIRE wiring harness and then discovered the module was totally fine. Probably the most disconcerting thing was that every time I called for a status update, I could never get a remotely thorough answer from them. No plan of attack, no technical description of what they were doing. It was a lot of "uhhhs" and "we're trying things"....just way too vague. Either the person taking my calls or the mechanic themself had no idea how to diagnose the issue but of course would not admit it. Over the 7 days they had it they inspired zero confidence, which is unfortunate because they're really nice guys. I was charged $300 for a week's worth of them vacuuming water out of the car and repairing 2 wires. read more

They fixed it for less than a quarter of the first estimated price. They also inspected the car and found an urgent repair. They were willing to show me the issue first (I can be skeptical of mechanics). Carlos spent a lot of time explaining how my brakes work and showing me the original parts after they were removed.
