I decided to try out Midas recently for a transmission and differential fluid change. The location was convenient for me (down the block from where I work) and the prices were better than at the Honda dealership. They also told me they will beat anyone else's prices! They were efficient, reasonably priced and friendly. I was so pleased that I brought my other car the following week for a tire repair. I couldn't make it there before they closed so Sebastian (the manager) dropped off my vehicle at work with the keys. I took my 2006 BMW X5 to the Midas on Roosevelt/Canal on 1/21/26 to see if the fuse was blown for the windshield wiper fluid, since it wasn't coming out. I was told the fuse was good and that they would need to do a diagnostic ($150 cost) to see what the problem was. They called to say I needed a new pump and quoted me a price of OVER $500 for the PART! I said $500 for the part. Where are you getting it? They said from BMW because there were no aftermarket parts and it wasn't sold at the AutoZone nor at Advanced Auto...LIES!! I googled and saw plenty of aftermarket parts, and saw that it was sold at the stores mentioned. I even went one step further and called BMW parts to get a price for the pumps, $87 each, and I only needed two, one for the front and one for the back. This place is a rip-off. WOMEN BEWARE, as I'm sure these assholes wouldn't have tried this with a man. I used to go to this location for years. When the previous owner owned it, I never had any issues, never! These guys are great! I came in at the last minute before closing after I left work to find myself stranded with a flat tire. Two other shops had previously looked at this same tire and could not locate the rim leak, took Midas 30 seconds. Had a slow leak in one of my tires. Dropped by Midas on Roosevelt Rd in Chicago. To my surprise, the service was so impressive; friendly, quick service, excellent customer care, and most importantly, fixed my problem of the nail in my tire that caused the slow leak. Here's the skinny--it costs $95 to get a tire rotation and an oil change here. Is it cheap? No. Is it convenient? Yes. I made an appointment (another tip--make an appointment, because car problems always seem to happen suddenly and leave you scrambling, so it's nice to plan ahead). My tire had not one but two nails in it causing it to repeatedly deflate. Midas looked at the tire and said that it was fine and they didn't find anything wrong. I took the car to Chevy and they found the two nails right away. Employees at Midas were nice, but this lack of attention to detail is a huge red flag to me. It should have been easy for them to find at least one of the nails, so I'm not sure if they just rushed through it but it was not something that would make me trust them with other repairs. read more

They had to order some parts to be delivered from a local warehouse, but they were able to have those parts delivered within a few hours, complete the work, and have my car returned to me well before the end of the day. Friendly guys with exceptional skills. I just walked in to ask about wiper blades. I had a pair but could not figure out the trick to getting the latch released. I would have purchased a new pair from the shop as they sell them of course. He installed the ones I had in about 2 minutes. The Midas employee was willing to install the blades. The sales associate that I worked with lied and told me that my break pads were almost gone and that my routers were warped and I need to replace all of them for $600 dollars. I went to another mechanic who told me that my break pads and routers are completely fine. The latter tracks because my car only has 20,000 miles on it. I was given a quote for brake work on a Monday over the phone by Person #1. I clearly clarified with them that this was for both the front and back together (rotors and pads) with all labor costs to get to the $400s total they mentioned for my 2008 Honda Accord. I clarified this was not per axle or without labor but the actual total. They said it definitely was the total, factoring in labor and such. It was much cheaper than the dealer was quoting me over $1000, so I said sure I"ll come there to drop the car off Tuesday instead of doing it at the dealer I was already at right there and then, and picking up my car again on Wednesday. I dropped the car off on Tuesday with Person #2 (maybe the manager? He asked what I was quoted on the phone for rotors/pads and I said $400s range total for front and back together. He didn't bat an eye at that or give an impression it wasn't a reasonable estimate). I then got a message Wednesday by Person #3 (Sebastiaan) showing it would be ~$1000 for the rotors/pads (the actual total was over $2000 because they listed additional fluids, calipers, etc. stuff, but I'm putting the amount considering just the rotors/pads I had initially inquired about). This is 2-3x what I was quoted that led me to come to Midas and leave the dealer who would have done the same work for nearly the same price...a waste of two days for me. This made me feel that Person #1 I spoke to on the phone Monday at Midas intentionally lied so I would come there from the dealer where I already was. Why did I waste two days of my time taking it to Midas to end up paying the same amount? Sebastiaan did not find out who told me this on Monday as I asked to file a formal complaint that employee Person #1 is giving inaccurate information. He said, oh, it's just some guy who was helping us out and covering...which is an infuriating excuse when you are responsible for your employees and people you put at the desk and can't just wave your hands at it. He also said Person #2 on Tuesday was the owner, the guy who did not question the number I told him I was quoted. Sebastiaan said the $400s was a ridiculous price no one would ever quote from their place and tried to blame it on the temp Person #1 covering Monday. Anyway, I didn't have another two days to waste so I did the pads/rotors for the double price*. I have no problem with the total price as it seems other places do it for similar cost, but I can't appreciate the deception or incompetence that led me there to start and Sebastiaan's attitude of not actually looking into it for me or confirming for me that the Monday guy acknowledged what I was told. Actual work done was fine, but take some responsibility for your team or make me feel like you disciplined someone who was lying or educated them on how to give a quote. *I'm only focusing on rotors/pads I was quoted. Additional work when needed is fine by me. There was some additional cost that brought the total to over $1200 as I decided to have a caliper replaced too which I understand is more expensive...though I still don't get why I needed the caliper replaced as he didn't say a real reason besides it needed it (were pistons messed up? I think he was just saying wear on it, but it seems calipers may never need to be replaced or can go over 100,000 which my car was not at yet...), and I decided not to do both in the pair as I was getting wary of their team at this point even though they say you normally do both even if the other one is okay...decided to leave it for now and give my money elsewhere when it becomes needed). read more

Nick came out and said they're closing soon but they'll take me because I was the last customer of the day even though it was going to be after hours month later the radio keeps shutting off every time I'm listening to my music and he didn't even put the antenna for the FM radio. they also refuse to work on my car because they said it was after hours and not during business hours really disappointed with the quality of work and attitude from this place. read more

Will not be returning. Ever. Took 2 days for an oil change and was lied to about when it would be ready. Had to call multiple times to see if the car was ready so poor communication. Service writer definitely had an attitude as well. When I came to pick the car up, it was still on the lift. I understand you are busy but be honest. Poor customer service! I was in need of a simple oil change. I had poor experiences at Goodyear and Firestone near me for tires and battery work so decided to try Midas. Made an appt by phone and was impressed with the professionalism during that call. They said synthetic was recommended by the manufacturer, but I could do a blend if I wanted to save money. I was quoted $89.95 and booked the synthetic. The next morning I pulled in and when checking in they realized the appt was actually placed on the wrong day, but said it would be no problem. As I was planning to wait they got started right away. I heard multiple calls come in and again was so impressed by how professional and courteous all the calls were handled. The waiting area is pretty spare and in need of a quick sweep, but there's free coffee and water. 20 minutes later my car was ready and the final bill came up less than expected. No pushy offers to buy filters or other unnecessary services. I'll definitely be back! read more

Great service from Eric and Julie. Called in the am to see about replacing my car battery after getting a warning signal. Due to the battery size it was not in stock. They said they would have it delivered and it may take a day. They had the battery in the store within a few hours and were able to get it installed by the afternoon. Very helpful with selection of which battery to use for my car. My Range Rover dealer said I could drop the car off and maybe they could look at it in two or three days! read more

I made an appointment for a specific service. A call was promised when my car would be finished. I arrived before closing to pick up my car to find out NO service was performed. One employee told me the service was done and another told me they had to call in an order for the materials and couldn't get the repair done. SERIOUSLY??? Why did you allow me to book an appointment for something you all couldn't deliver? I also noticed a greasy fingerprint on my trunk. Why on earth would anyone be going in my trunk? If Yelp allowed (-1 ) review, this will be it. Sebastian tried to upsell me on unnecessary coolant flush. He says my coolant was low. I had my coolant flushed in November at the Jeep dealership. It was replaced with OAT 10 yr/150 K miles coolant. I checked my coolant reservoir the day before and radiator a few weeks ago-both at full level. There is no coolant leak for the level to be low. It's a closed cooling system, so the level will not go down in one day with no active coolant leak. My appointment is at 10 am for a brake flush. He says it will take 1.5 hours to complete. I came back, and the car is at the same spot. The tech drove it in and drove out and came back around 5 minutes. He put it on the lift, and approximately 15 minutes later, the car was parked at the front. I asked why the brake fluid was still darkish in color vs. new fluid amber/ clear color. Sebastian says the new fluid is circulating in the brake system. So, if I wanted a completely brake flushed system where the brake fluid is amber/ clear color in the reservoir, it would cost more than $100 and more service time. I paid $92.04 tax included with a 10 off $100 Midas coupon. I guess the brake flush on the invoice was technically more of a "brake bleed/ flush". It took 2 hours and 14 minutes to leave Midas with an appointment read more
