Seriously, I was quite impressed by their professional service. I have a Porsche Boxster that needed a 60K maintenance. Their great reviews on internet quickly catches my eyes. But there were also some unhappy reviews? I was thus a little bit nervous and cautious, but they are very kind and patient to answer all my challenges! That's really helpful. I learned a lot more about my car and found out they are indeed trustable people! I no longer worry about the a few different reviews. I know it's impossible to satisfy all kinds of people. They are already doing very good jobs. There are other great subtle things about their service: 1. Price is negotiable when it's beyond your budget. It turned out there are more problems in my car other than 60K maintenance can cover. As human natural, I was very hard to be convinced of more problems and fees in the beginning. But now I am really happy to let them fix it. My car is a million more fun to drive! You can also ask them to show more proof like the liquid leak spot on engine, and etc, if you are as nervous and reluctant as I was. And I am glad that they are very kind to offer a better price when it is unexpectedly beyond my budget. 2. They also keep the old parts from your car to show you. A good habit of real work. 3. I also automatically get 3-month warrant for free labor and 1-year for the equipment. 4. They have been running this business for 14 years! They told me they still have customer from 14 years ago. I just feel that they can deserve more attention and I write it. It's harder to see a good real review because I people are lazier when they are happy. :))) read more

Just a friendly complaint about my recent service. I'll continue to come to you guys but have learned from this experience to preface any service with a request to ask my permission first, before completing any service. I brought my Tahoe in on Monday, 8/3 and requested a manual oil pressure check to confirm what I thought was wrong with the oil pressure switch area. I was told I'd hear from them the following morning (9:00am-ish) after further diagnostics. I didn't hear from anyone so I called around 1:00pm on Tuesday 8/4. I was told someone would get back to me soonthat day, but nobody did. The next day I walked to the shop to speak to someone in person and they told me they were replacing the oil pressure switch and the filter adjacent to the switch. I suspected this was the issue when I brought it in. They didn't ask me to do this but I left it go because I knew it was the issue and its typically a small job. I was shocked to get charged over $600 for this and even with a discount paid $475 for a simple oil pressure switch/filter and a bit of cleaning of the line. I never would have guessed it would cost this much and would have had the work done by a local mechanic I call on. I originally came in for diagnostics and a manual oil pressure check to confirm some thoughts I had about the problem. Next time I will make sure they are to call me and ask permission before completing any work to my vehicle. I will go back, like I said but will make sure of a few things before service. read more

Apparently the owner doesn't have a grasp of what's going on in his own shop, and with how defensive he gets. You can tell that he knows he's in the wrong. Everything I said in my review below is 100% accurate, and according to other reviews I'm not the only one that has these kind of problems. I've already contacted the Better Business Bureau, and yes I am in the process of letting my colleagues know EXACTLY the kind of shop this place is. These guys know exactly what they did, and out of a place of fear are trying to back pedal. They think they can treat anybody like garbage, and get away with it. I'd also like to point out that it does't matter if I told this guys employee what he can go do to himself after threatening me. THEY are the business and the responsibility falls on them to solve a problem, not to threaten physical violence. I would LOVE to see any video or phone calls that shows me as the aggressor in any of these situations. Literally every single time it's their employees who open their mouths instigating the situation. The owners defensive rebuttal speaks volumes to the poor service this place provides. He doesn't even try to acknowledge any of their wrong doing. It's no wonder why his employees are just as aggressive. This whole operation is pathetic read more

I drove in late Friday night from Michigan to visit my sister, and as we were parking my car, my belt tensioner locked up, shredded my drive belt and my car became undrivable. Being unfamiliar with car repair businesses in the area, we searched for highly rated places and found Logan Square Auto Repair. We called as soon as they opened on Saturday morning, and they immediately put me at ease. Mike was kind and thoughtful, and set a tow in motion immediately. Within an hour or so, Giovanni the tow truck driver had helped us push the car so we could get it towed, carefully eased it out of the parking ramp and off to the shop. The folks there diagnosed the problem quickly, got me an estimate during lunch, and worked to have it fixed same day so that I could drive home on schedule. They gave me a list of other things they saw that I need to work on, but didn't pressure me to fix them. The cost was fair and when we drove it back to Lincoln Park, the car drove like a dream. My 13 yr old Saturn is my life's blood, as I cannot afford to replace it. THANK you guys! read more

i'm really hesitant to recommend an auto repair garage. everyone has such wildly different experiences and every shop and everyone in the shop is so varied that it's impossible to guarantee consistent service. that said, i've been taking 2 vehicles to logan square auto repair for 2.5 years, and i have nothing negative to say about them. so, with no caveats, i guess i have to give them the big 5 stars. until 2.5 years ago i only owned motorcycles so i haven't had a ton of experience with auto repair shops. i don't know if their prices are great or not, but they seem average to me. what i can say is that rick, who is apparently the top guy there, is right on top of his game. pretty much every time i go in there, he tells me about some other issue that needs to be taken care of eventually, but never pressures to get it done. he's not fishing for extra work, he's just taking a little extra time to look over the car and bring other issues to my attention. "by the way, this needs to be replaced, but probably not for another 6 months. just so you know". read more

Great place with friendly and patient staff. Nick and Dimitry were very willing to communicate with me and talk me through the repairs that they recommended and helped me prioritize which repairs to make. They have a nice system where when they're diagnosing your car, they take photos and notes and it's loaded into basically a pdf that is texted to me. You can look at the information/diagnosis at your leisure and think about which repairs you want to make, and show it/talk about it with your dad or whoever you want to consult for outside advice. It's very transparent which I really like. And the team themselves were willing to patiently talk me through and prioritize the repairs the proposed. One more thing, due to my own negligence with various fluids (first time car owner on an old beat up car), I had to retire my car. Nick gave me honest and genuine advice for what I should do, and even helped me take the stereo out of my car to help me scrounge whatever cash I could recover. I've lived down the block from LSAR for the past 8 years and even though I get my car washed next door, I never thought to bring my car in to them for service until yesterday. I've been using a great mechanic for the past few years, but he doesn't have great diagnostic equipment that sometimes is necessary to work on later model cars. My regular mechanic tried for a couple of hours to re-set a flashing light on my instrument cluster, and couldn't figure it out - he advised me to call a Nissan dealer and maybe they could figure it out. The Nissan dealer was booked solid for 3 weeks, and told me it would cost me $98 dollars just to look at the problem and I was looking at close to $200 to $300 to fix it. Just by chance I drove my car over to LSAR - Ricky told me that it probably was just a re-set problem - he plugged his scanner in, hit a couple of buttons and the problem was solved. When I asked him how much I owed him, he said he wouldn't charge me for such a small problem. Wow - did that make my day! What a gem to have in the neighborhood! read more

I can't say enough about Logan Square Auto Repair; Nick and Gil in particular. They came recommended by AAA and have worked on my car a few times. The first time they worked on my car, they were able to clean and restore the needed part instead of replacing it, which would have been more expensive AND they delivered the car back to me at no cost. The customer service is top notch. You can tell they really care about their customers and understand that auto service is stressful on the customer. Most recently, I was in an accident and they took care of my car while I was dealing with an uncooperative insurance company. Since the car ended up being totaled, they mentioned that they do free inspections on cars for when I end up shopping for another car. Their advice and empathy to my situation put me at ease and was truly a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend them and would give them more stars if it were an option. I will continue to use them for all my service needs. There is a special spot in heaven for people like Nick and Gil. read more

I was in town for Pitchfork 2010, was on my way to the show and had a brake caliper seize on me early on a Saturday afternoon. Looked up "auto repair" on google maps while smoke was pouring out of my wheel (and I'm tossing water on it) and luckily Logan Square came up as the closest one. These guys got my brake fixed as a walk-in customer on a Saturday afternoon. They were very friendly and helpful, my options (as limited as they were) were fully explained to me, and the price was reasonable. I feel very fortunate that I broke down just a couple blocks from these guys! In a situation like that you don't have the opportunity to shop around, I basically just had to have my car fixed and these guys really came through. While I was waiting they had a couple customers come in to pick up cars who I spoke to and they also had nothing but positives to say about the skill of the mechanics as well. They appear to run a trustworthy auto shop, if I lived in Chicago I would absolutely take my car back to Logan Square. read more

Every car I've had, every problem I've encountered with my cars, these guys have been consistently awesome. Prices are reasonble and always match estimates, if anything may be different once they get the car lifted to look at the problem, they're quick to call and discuss options, prices, severity of the issue, other things likely to cause issues soon, and answer any questions (my last 2 cars were beater SUVs, and Rick was tremendously helpful in prioritizing repairs and explaining what to be aware of/when to worry). I've never had any issues with work they've done - and haven't ever had to drop my car back again and again for something that should be done in one shot, which doesn't necessarily seem to be the case with all shops - and to top it all off, Rick and his team are super friendly and accommodating. The waiting/lobby area is well kept, comfortable, and stocked with refreshments, and they have always been welcoming. read more

I lived in Logan Square for five years and this was always the first place I took my car. Multiple times I compared the estimates from My Toyota dealer and LSAR, and LSAR was a better deal by a landslide. I eventually quit bothering with comparing and just came here right away. Most recently, I bought a used car and needed to get it ready to drive across the country, so I took it in for their summer Road Warrior special. Manuel was very communicative, walked me through the whole diagnostic, and was really thorough and kind as I asked question after question. They were even flexible when I had an emergency and needed to take my car back for a day. I was honest with Manuel - I'm a teacher and was worried about affording all of the work at once; I almost panicked. He helped me prioritize the work and built a lot of trust. I love this shop! They fixed my 2007 Honda Civic's lights and airbags for about a quarter of the price that I was quoted at other shops. The latter required a deep dive into the electrical system of the car to figure out why the airbag sensor was shorting out, but they still had all the work done in less than 24 hours. They called to update me on the status of the repair and asked before proceeding with what turned out to be a very involved diagnostic. They were able to quote me an exact price and were very honest and realistic about what repairs were actually needed on my old car. Incidentally, they were also able to pinpoint the source of an oil leak where other repair shops had been unable to do so. I am a female and am always a little uneasy about getting screwed over by auto repair shops, but the mechanics and receptionist treated me with the utmost respect. Very trustworthy place. read more

I remember a few years ago being nervous going from a family friend mechanic to trying to find an auto shop closer to my home that I could have the same trust in as my family. I could not be happier that I found it in the first shop I visited, LSAR. Everyone here is courteous and helpful. The manager Rick is one of the best customer service reps I've experienced in auto shops. Their quotes are accurate to the penny, honest, and no pressure. You can make an appointment for multiple or more lengthy services, or just drive up, honk, and drop off. I can't recall them ever having my vehicle longer than a day or any repair or service. If/when I move out of the neighborhood I'll still be coming here for years. It's fairly faith restoring to find a business that realizes the benefits to honest, caring work and the loyalty it brings. read more

i hate writing reviews, and i never do, but after my last experience with logan auto i was really pissed off and wrote an unfair review of them. ricky (not me) is a great guy and his customer service skills show me i still have much to learn when it comes to dealing with the public. even if my car is un-fixable i do recommend you take your car here but, if you are not familiar with the auto mechanic industry like i was, i also do recommend you always ask for a price upfront and make sure that you and the auto mechanic are on the same page about what they will be doing and how much it's gonna cost! that way there isn't an unexpected cost when you pick up your vehicle. quality of work is excellent but they get busy so if it's not routine maintenance it might take longer than usual. read more
