I went into the Jiffy Lube on Elston & Addison in Chicago IL for a routine Oil Change on 4/6/2026. After leaving the Jiffy Lube, on my drive back home, I noticed a light on my dash that I never saw before (see attached photo). This is a light that means that my "electric emergency brakes need inspection". Firstly, I have never seen this light come on my dash before, it was on as soon as I left this Jiffy Lube for the oil change. I went on google to trouble shoot on my own and tried to disengage the emergency brake, but I could not turn it off. I went back to the same Jiffy Lube the next day, to ask them to turn it off or see why this light was on suddenly after my oil changed at their location. The service technician came out to the lobby and told me this: "For the equinox? So, that light is the parking brake lights, it means your parking brakes are not working". I thought about this and asked him, "You're saying that I am not able to park my car?" and he replied, "No you can park your car, but the emergency brakes will not work, they need to be serviced". I thought about this and said "So, why did those lights come on all of a sudden after a routine oil change, was it something you guys did?" He denied that they did anything and said "No for oil changes, we never touch the emergency brakes. You would need to go to a mechanic, and have it inspected, we don't do any of that here". I left Jiffy Lube very disappointed in that location's lack of accountability. The main point here is that they clearly screwed up something with my car's emergency brakes and refused to fix and own up to their mistake. I understand that I dropped off my car at a time of the day when it was extremely busy, but that's not an excuse to be damaging people's cars and then pretending like you don't know what happened if a part of the car suddenly brakes or stops working. I will officially not be going to this Jiffy Lube moving forward, I think I will stick with taking my car to the Chevy Dealership moving forward. I would advise against going to this Jiffy Lube when it is busy. If you go to this location when it is not busy, take pictures of your dashboard before and after, take pictures of your car's exterior, you need proof that they may have damaged your car in some way. My advice is to go to a Certified Dealership per your car's brand, instead of Jiffy Lube. The Dealership may cost a little more money and it may take a few business days to get your car back while they service it, but I've never had a negative experience at a Chevy Dealership when it came to service. Also, aside from the damage they caused to my car's emergency brake system, they also didn't refill the car's window washer fluid, even they told me "Oh we topped off all your fluids for you, free of charge" which they normally do, but this time the window washer fluid in my car is empty. So, they were so busy that they missed refilling the window washer fluid in my car and they damaged the emergency brake system in my car. My advice do not go to Jiffy Lube or Mechanics, they do their business by fixing something and braking something else (either by accident or unintentionally, to make more money off of you). Also, I advise going to your neighborhood mechanics, unless they have very stellar reviews. My advice is to go to the certified dealership per your car's brand. Why? I feel like Dealerships make a lot of money selling cars; they don't need to screw up anyone's car during a service visit to make a little dough (they have enough). Lastly, I do not need a manager from Jiffy Lube to reach out to me, I don't want a refund (I will refuse it) nor an apology. I want the community to know about this experience so that they can make informed decisions about where to take their car for reliable and trustworthy service. So, go to your local car dealership. Lesson Learned.

Many other folks had the same idea, so I knew this place was reputable (in addition to all its great online reviews) They gave me a call by 10:30am letting me know they could fix the whirring with a new belt. Also identified my brakes were at their end of life and offered to replace. Their quote for 4 new brake pads was extremely reasonable. By 1:45 my car was done being serviced and I went back to pick it up. Easy check out. No line. Very nice staff. A complete success. Overall, I had a good experience with Ashland Tire & Auto. I brought my car in for exhaust repairs,…read moreand they completed the work the same day. The repair cost seemed fair, though on the higher end of the expected range. One issue came up afterward: when I picked up the car, the tire pressure light was on. I initially assumed it was nothing serious, but by the following evening, one tire was completely flat. To be clear, I understand there's no way to know for sure whether the tire was damaged while the car was at the shop or while I was driving it home or the following day. I genuinely acknowledge that uncertainty. That said, the timing concerned me. I took the car to Just Tires, where I had purchased all four of the tires in 2022. I was told that the flat tire could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. Replacing two tires, which is fairly typical (depending on tread wear and matching) was recommended. The total cost, including tax and installation, was about $575. I discussed the situation with Ken Papas at Ashland Tire, and I appreciate the way he handled it. He didn't dismiss my concern, but he also fairly pointed out that neither of us could pinpoint when the damage occurred. He offered $150 toward the replacement cost, which I accepted. I think that was a reasonable, good-faith gesture, even though covering the cost of one tire would have felt more satisfying. I'm leaving a positive review because the exhaust issue has been resolved (so I assume the original repair was done correctly) and because Ken handled an uncertain situation professionally. I'd consider using Ashland Tire & Auto again.

I'd replaced the battery before, so I tried that again... nothing. My (very mechanically inclined) husband tried too--still nothing. That kicked off the search for a replacement, and wow--what a frustrating experience. The dealership quoted me $600 to replace and program a new key. Automotive locksmiths were all over the place--$180, $250--and the whole process felt vague and transactional, like you couldn't get a straight answer without jumping through hoops. Then I found Avondale Auto Repair through the Costco Auto Program--and everything changed. Rick answered the phone, and within seconds I felt reassured. He was straightforward, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest. Instead of trying to sell me something, he explained the pros and cons--how aftermarket keys often don't last, and how they source directly from the dealer but can usually save customers about $100. No pressure. Just real, helpful information. When I came in, that same feeling continued. The shop itself is clean, bright, and welcoming--nothing like the typical auto repair environment. Nathan (Rick's brother-in-law) was at the front desk and immediately made us feel comfortable. Friendly, genuine, and incredibly helpful. Before recommending anything, he opened up my key and inspected it to confirm it wasn't just a battery issue. That alone told me everything--I wasn't being upsold. They were actually trying to help. Then Rick came back from lunch and did the same thing again, just to double check. I paid a deposit and they said they'd call once they got the key from the dealership. It took a few days. Even though they were short-staffed they week of my FOB order, Nathan handled everything with professionalism and kindness. He called three different dealerships to track down my key (since it was out of stock everywhere), coordinated the order, and made the whole process seamless. When I came back to drop off my car, even the staff helping me park were warm and courteous--it's those small touches that really stand out. We used to have a go-to repair shop nearby, but after a change in ownership, it just hasn't been the same. Now, we've found our new place. Avondale Auto Repair didn't just fix a problem--they earned our trust. And that's everything. That's how you do it, Nathan and Rick!

I took my car in because my sunroof was stuck open. They gave me an estimate to fix it and I agreed to have the service done. Ultimately they were not able to fix it and I still had to take it to the dealer for repair who told me the damage that was done would result in an even more expensive repair. Overall, I had a horrible experience with poor communication throughout. They had my car for several weeks and I had to chase them for updates. After the first week with no updates, I finally reached the shop manager and the response I got was to "be patient". This was the state of my car when I picked it up, which was not the state I dropped it off in. Although my car was over 10 years old it was in nearly perfect condition when I dropped it off. The car was hit while parked on the street outside the shop. When I saw the damage I went back into the shop and they sent me to their body shop to have it buffed out. Much of the damage came out but not all of it. Nothing was offered to rectify the damage done to the interior of the car. I sent emails to the shop with the pictures below, but got no response.

I provided them with the information requested and was sent a text with the estimate. I then asked about the Costco 15% voucher and a time to bring the car in for repair. Their responds was I needed to bring the car in to the shop for a physical inspection to provide an accurate estimate. I brought the car to you on Friday May 14, 2026 asking for the estimate on the trailing arms and inquired about the dash board lights. They asked for 2 hours of time to prepare this. I received the estimate for the repairs along with an inspection report and quotes for 17 other "issues", I did not request an inspection of any kind. When I return to retrieve the car and finalize the repairs I ask a couple of question, first will they honor the Costco voucher and timing to have the repairs completed. Here are my challenges with the transaction, I had temporary access to these estimates and was locked out once I paid the fee of $81.00 ($77.,25 actual debit transition), your website states a free estimate but you charged me and then restricted my access. The garage has a deal with Costco to take 15% off the total bill but when asked I was told you would take 10% on part and 15% on labor. The texted estimate was $1610.00 prior to me asking about the Costco discount and the realtime estimate was $1750 as I recalling only being able to view it prior to lockout. Most concerning was your raid silent when I called to follow up on Saturday as requested by you, I called around 8:30 AM , followed up with a text at around 11 AM and another at 2:15 PM and as on this email there has been no response. The work has been completed by another garage and its is worth pointing out in this review it was completed at a cost of 1/2 what Logan Square Garage was going to charge me. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST, it is a money grab.
