I have used Clark Tire service for year, through 4 different vehicles and have never been steered in the wrong direction. I've always relied on their honesty and fair prices. I had 2 Yaris's, both requiring special size tires, which has to be ordered. At Costco we were told it would be a week before they would have them, Clark Tire had the next day. When I knew we were due for new tires, I would just call them, and they would be there the following day, no down pay, no hassle. When we bought our current car (used) we knew it needed all the tires replaced. The dealership only had one brand that was $750 per tire. I got 4 brand new tires from Clark for a grand total of $550. And they had them in stock. 45 minutes later I was back on the road. I highly recommend them to all my friends and family, and no one has had any complaint. I grew up down the street from this place, I have gone here over the years for friendly, honest service. (Always a hint of flirtation, but I didn't mind as long as my car was getting serviced and I wasn't being charged an arm and a leg.) Unfortunately, it seems those attributes for this place have fallen off. I went with my partner on Saturday and the guys were rude! I had low air tire pressure and they took my tire, went in the back, didn't tell us anything, and so my partner asked what he did and he replied with an attitude. Clearly they don't care about communication or being friendly to customers. (Or perhaps you only get good service if you're a woman by herself.) whatever the case is, I do not recommend this place. Clark Tires is the best automotive repair shop in the Rogers Park, Evanston area. I have been taking my old Grand Prix here for repairs and maintenance for over a decade and the car runs like new after each visit. Pricing is reasonable, Carlos is an extraordinary mechanic who at this point has at one time or another repaired or replaced nearly every mechanical component of my over 20 year old vehicle. The owner Joe has always been honest and fair in regard to any repairs He's always kept me informed of things that may be failing next, so I could be prepared if and when something went out. I've had major engine service such as intake manifold gasket replacement done (due to mfgr recall,) and things such as complete AC system rebuild, radiator replacement, rack and pinion replacement, tires plugged, trans service, tune up plugs and wires, door lock actuators, etc. The pricing is always fair and reasonable he gives honest quotes and assessments of what is wrong have always been spot on. I would like to start off saying that the employees here were pretty nice. I came in to fix a flat tire and ends up needing to replace it Altogether. I was leaning towards a new tire because they seemed to have good deals but was swayed to just get a used one since I would be replacing all my tires soon anyways. The service didn't take long, maybe 30-44 min wait in the morning. As they were putting the used tire in, I heard air coming out of it. They assured me that they were letting air out to match the rest of my tires. I should have stuck with my gut instinct and ask them to give me another used tire. As I was driving out the lot I saw my tire pressure indicator on my dash was still lit and they reassured me that this would go away as I drove throughout the day(it never did). Two days later while driving on the eway I get a flat on this same tire. I tried to inflate it but it wouldn't go. I called Clark tire service to let them know that they obviously gave me a faulty tire and the guys response was "well that's what happens with used tires, they can last a year or they can last a day but you don't know and you don't have a warranty". I honestly was appalled and so frustrated. That was $50 gone down the drain. Do yourself a favor and never buy a used tire from them. read more

I would give this place a zero rating if I could. Came to have them check if my rim was cracked since tire kept leaking (this was the 3rd time I brought it to them to check the same problem). The worker broke the threading of 4 out of 5 of the nuts holding the tire plus broke off 2 more nuts from the other tire that I never came in for. I call the boss and he has the nerve to tell me it's my fault his worker broke 6 total nut threadings with his impact gun because I was "telling" his worker how not to destroy my vehicle. I should have called the police because the owner did not pay to fix the damages his worker caused. This place destroys cars and does not pay for the damages. I barely managed to drive the car to a mechanic to repair what they did with only one nut holding the tire in place. Better places all along Clark. read more

Finding a trustworthy mechanic is as daunting and important to my sanity as fining a good doctor. Except I see a the mechanic more often. I first went here because it was within 2 blocks of my home and I needed a quick tire fix.It is his tiny little shed of a shop wedges into a tight corner lot off of Clark, but don't let the appearance put you off. They pointed out the mechanical issue that caused my tires to wear out. They told me all options from short-term to permanent fix without pressure to choose. I had they do the full repair of my suspension , and at a very competitive price. When I paid the bill (for a job done early) the receipt was this paper with the owner's picture,name, email,phone number, CITY BUSINESS LICENCE NUMBER, and guarantee of his shop's work. I was impressed, as that gave me a sense of his commitment to doing quality work. I have been back for another fix with a different car,and had the same quick, courteous and affordable service. Quick & Simple, out in 15 min!!! When I arrived there were 5 cars in front of me and I was there for a total of about 20 min & they replaced my 2 back tires. They moved fast, was courteous and filled the air in my front 2 tires. Will be back in 2 weeks for my alignment, and will def become a repeat customer! I was a little skeptical of the reviews here, so I thought I'd at least let my fellow Yelpers know about my experience. Got a flat on my back rear tire and the front passenger was looking a little suspect. Called over to see what the wait would be, and I was advised to come on in. As soon as I pulled in the guys were ready, I hopped out and they went to work. I appreciated the gentleman telling me the back tire was a no go, as well as not up selling me on a new tire when I asked to replace the front tire also. Instead, he stated he'd look at the front tire first, because he'd rather me fix it than replace it. Turns out the front one had a nail so they patched it, and I replaced the back tire (used). I was in and out in less than 30 mins. They seem to be doing good business as there were at least 6 cars pulling in as I was leaving. I love it when services I need are right in the heart of the neighborhood. Just a sidebar: The guy in the office was a sweetheart, my 4 year old was obsessed with their rim pamphlets, I didn't want her to take it since we weren't buying new rims, but he gave her one of his older versions. Totally avoided a battle/meltdown. Yes, for me it's the little things! In a nutshell, yes, there are some reviews that are less than stellar, but nobody is perfect. I've always gone to Clark Tire for anything tire-related with any of my cars. They always have the best prices around with excellent employees. I do a fair amount of work on my own cars and finding a place with good prices and good work is an extreme rarity - and they have it. I had 4 tires that needed to be put on and they balanced them and everything for only $80. Every other place I had called quoted me at at least $120.
