They're so nice, very helpful and won't over charge or do any extra services you don't need. As long as I live in the area I'm going to Pete's for anything I need for my car read more

I paid $6000 for them to fix my truck. I brought it back because it was spewing oil. They "fixed" it and 2,000 miles later I had the same problem. Spewing oil. Only this time it caused secondary damage that needed to be repaired. A total of $1238.00. Plus the tow when it caused the truck to die on the highway. I have texted and called and there has been no response. Maybe they would like to take off the Customer First part from your website. I called their insurance company and they said they won't cover it because the problem was caused by mechanics error. read more

Engine light came on while driving, and motor sounded strange. I drove straight to Pete's and parked car outside overnight. The fuel pump was replaced the next day. Great service!! read more

Great service, always an excellent place to get your car serviced. Prices seem reasonable. My family's been going here for many years and I often recommend Pete to all my other Chicago pals read more

Look no further for kind, compassionate, honest car care. These guys are the real deal. They will diagnose your car for free and tell you to go to the dealer when it can be serviced for free. When they fix your breaks and the pads run down a year and a half later they will change the pads and the rotors for free and they will even throw in an oil change! I trust and value their service more than any mechanic I've been to in 20 years of car ownership. If they don't have room to look at my car, I will wait until they can. No other car mechanic is this honest and reliable. And they are just so nice! Support honest mechanics like this family run business!!! They deserve it! read more

Pete's been keeping my cars in shape for decades. Highly recommend Pete for quality and honesty.

Pete SR and Pete JR are great people. Father and son duo. Honest about what needs fixing and what does not. Known of them since many years ago. Consistent great service. I think prices are reasonable given quality. read more

Been going to Pete's auto for years. Very reliable shop. They know what they're doing and get the job right. They'll never give you the run around. read more

My hybrid vehicle was having starting problems and auto zone said it wasn't the battery. I thought the hybrid battery was going out and was preparing for a big $. I called 7 places from Yelp and all wanted 80-100 to run a diagnostic. Pete's told me they'd check it out for free. Sure enough it was the regular battery and Auto Zone was wrong. I asked him to also check out some damage from hitting a snow bank, he fixed it for free! Pete's saved me a lot of money! They were super honest and didn't try to rack up a bill. My only area for improvement is no one was wearing a mask, not even people dealing with customers inside. Workers got in my car without a mask or gloves. This made me uncomfortable. I'm hoping they've changed this! read more

Pete's auto clinic was great! I brought in my 2004 Prius because it was making a weird noise and they fixed it quickly and very reasonably. I also took my other car in for an oil change. Always efficient and reliable and reasonably priced. Five stars! read more

Recently had my truck in for repairs. This was my first experience with them and they were wonderful! So professional and honest, not to mention my truck has never driven better. If you need work done on your vehicle, this is the place to go. You won't be disappointed!! read more

I have an old car so I take it for a yearly diagnostic outside of the usual oil change. I liked how quick Pete was with taking in the car and letting me know the issues within the same day. I wish they were open on the weekend but they were quick with replacing the issues and gave me a breakdown before doing the work. I really liked that they gave me options since the repairs would cost a lot and they told me things that needed to be addressed right away and those I can do in the near future. I had an issue afterwards that affected my emission test but took it to another place that would test but I would recommend taking your car there if you are in the area! read more

Pete put in rotors and pads on to rear breaks a year and a half ago. Last week while having an oil change (at a jiffy lube that does brakes) my wife was told she needed to have both the pads and rotors replaced on these brakes. We took the car back to Pete, who looked at the brakes and said we have a couple more years of wear on them left. Jiffy Lube also told my wife that she needed new pads and rotors on the front brakes as well. Pete said that those are in Ok shape, but don't need to be replaced quite yet. Thanks for saving us money Pete! read more

My car was overheating and I went in at 8am to get it checked. Pete called me with an estimate within an hour and right before I got off of work, that same day, I received a call from him telling me that my car was ready! This place is great! Pete is honest, fast, professional, and one the best mechanics I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. It's quite exciting to find a great mechanic in my area so I'm very grateful for him! Extremely satisfied customer! Highly recommended! read more

Friendly, quick service, explained what was wrong and even showed me the part that was replaced on my car, and great price. Thank you!

Officially my new mechanic. I feel in good hands with Pete! So thankful I found a reliable and trustworthy mechanic near me.

Let me start by saying that I just LOVE Pete. I discovered this little shop when I first moved to Chicago and lived right around the corner. I would drop off my car (a 2002 Subaru) there for oil changes, tires rotations, and other routine maintenance, and then just walk home. When I moved a little further east, I kept coming back. The reason: these are honest guys who are NOT going to rip you off. Pete did the 80,000 mile check up on my car which included changing all the spark plugs and other electrical parts and he charged me half of what the dealer quoted me. He gets the repairs done quickly, always calls if he finds something else that you should considering getting done, and never charges more than the quote. My car needs the belts replaced right now it has 120,000 miles on it, and I know exactly who I am going to call to get it done. GREAT shop, GREAT mechanic! read more

I had the rear brake caliper seize on my 2001 Volkswagen Jetta. I normally get work done on my car when I'm back at home in Michigan but I obviously couldn't drive to Michigan in this condition. After getting a few ridiculous quotes at some other places I was advised to go to Pete. He was fair, honest, and does Quality Labor. He didn't talk down to me because I was a girl or try to sell me work I didn't need. I felt respected. I even had my brother who works on Vintage Volkswagens check over the work done on my car when I was back in Michigan and he said that it looks beautiful and the price was exceedingly fair if not even a little underpriced! Pete even installed a new brake pad for the left rear of my car because you can't buy just 1 for free! I would highly recommend using the shop. read more

I have taken my vehicles to Pete's for the past 1 1/2 or so. I absolutely LOVE Pete, the other Pete, and the other guys. They are very down-to-earth and professional. They are very good at what they do. The only time I do not take my car to Pete's is when I cannot afford the extra few dollars to pay for the better service. (That darn economy! Oi vey!) But, when I can afford it, I always pay to have my car there.) They are fair and knowledgeable. And, I always tell people how great they are when I get the chance! read more

A friend of mine recommended Pete and I have used him without complaint or incident for the past two years. He's honest, trustworthy and a good mechanic. He's the kind of guy who won't charge you for little stuff and will let you know what you must repair right away or what can wait a while if money is an issue. He will also let you know if there is something he can't handle- for instance, he handles all the maintenance on our 1988 BMW, but when we needed electrical work done he didn't hesitate to let us know that we needed to go to the dealer. I highly recommend Pete- tell him Sadie sent you. read more

Hmm. They quote my boyfriend $40 to change out his summer tires for winter tires, but they quote me $50 for the same thing?

Let me admit that I have a bias, I'm friends with Pete and Angelo so they could fart in my face and I'd still give them five stars. I think if you are looking for a shop to take your car, consider this place. Pete is not out to make a fast buck, but rather wants to help folks out. I've sent a few younger (and broke) friends there and he's helped them out, and in one case just found something unplugged, plugged it back and send my friend on her way. They also don't have cars sit around, they jump on projects and get them done as quickly as possible. John R. read more

I just went to Pete's because my maintenance required light was on. He was very friendly and fixed it immediately, on the spot. And since it didn't take much he did it for free! I'll for sure come back when there is something actually wrong with my car. read more

We live just 2 blocks from Pete's and have been going to them for many years. They're friendly, honest and fair, and they do a good job on repairs. read more

I just picked up my car after my inaugural visit to Pete's. I am new to the neighborhood and needed some MAJOR maintenance work to my poor, neglected Subaru. They did great work quickly and for a fair price. It's nice to go to a mechanic who doesn't treat women like they don't know anything about cars. For this reason, I like to use independent mechanics, and steer clear of dealerships. I like to drive my cars well into the high mileage range, and it's nice to have a mechanic right around the corner who can help me keep my car running well. Thanks, guys! read more

I was in dire need of an oil change and to replace my belt. As a lady I didn't want to be taken advantage of. I don't know much about cars and the mechanics behind it. After debating between going to the Toyota dealership and here, I made a decision to go here instead. I'm happy that I did. People there are really nice and welcoming. I told them what I need to get done and they told me how long it will take. I decided to take care of my errands while my car was getting fixed. I thought it was really nice of them to call me and let me know what the issue was and how much. When I missed their call the 2nd time to tell me that the car was ready, they told me to call them back to let them know I got the message. This is good customer service. My car was fixed and the noise is long gone. I totally recommend them! I wonder if they are aware of their reviews? read more

I don't usually review mechanics on Yelp, but I feel compelled to review this place. I went to the Midas up near Lincolnwood to get some new tires I got shipped there installed. They inspected my car and gave me a laundry list of things that needed to be done. One of the things was a new timing belt, something I got replaced 20K miles ago. I told them to kiss my behind. Based on the numerous glowing reviews, I took my car up to Pete's. He told me that the only wrong with my car was a bad brake light. I just got a new mechanic for the life of my car. read more

I love Petes. I've been using them as my mechanics for about 5 years, and I really feel that they are trustworthy, friendly, skilled and reasonably priced. There are times when they could have charged us for things, and they didn't. They are very honest people. Love them! read more

I've live a block from Pete's Auto Clinic and never go there until now. I was having all of my four breaks replace. But then Pete's call me and told me only my front break need replacing and my rear break is fine. They could have replace all of my four breaks and I wouldn't know about it. I like their honesty and good work. I will go back again. read more

Ditto! To every other positive reviews! Wish more auto shops was as experienced, flexible and honorable as Pete's. Thanks guys..

I've taking my 2004 Cavalier to Pete for about two years now. Absolutely wonderful. I won't go any place else again. They are first of all honest and truthful. They fix my car as if I am their mother or their sister whom they love. (not everybody likes their mother or sister). they are funny, fast and reasonably priced. I feel safe in my car after they have checked it out. They even drove a stranded friend of mine out to Arlington Hts when they had to keep her car for a part. They obviously like what they are doing. Great service and great guys. I recommend them to everybody except my worse enemy who doesn't deserve their careful care care. read more
