Our 2013 VW Tiguan decided not to start on the coldest weekend of the year so far. I looked around online and it seemed like it was either a bad battery or the alternator. We were really hoping it wasn't the alternator. We were able to borrow a neighbor's portable jumper to get the car going and came into this O'Reilly. I was nervous because some of the reviews were not great, but I hoped that things had changed. I was instantly greeted by Carlos when I walked in the door. He was super friendly and welcoming. I told him that I could not get the car to turn over even though the battery wasn't dead, and he quickly grabbed his battery testing kit and said let's hope it's not the alternator. Sure enough, the battery was bad, which made sense because it had been giving us a hard time for awhile. We go back inside, he has the battery we need, and then he goes back out to my car to take a look and comes back in and says he will replace it for me for free! It is 0* out and snowing! And he helps me take the old battery out, puts the new one in, adds battery acid preventive jelly, and bam! New battery, car starts like a dream, and Carlos now saved us from a non working car in the coldest week of the year and a trip to the mechanic. Carlos, I can't thank you enough for saving us this weekend and hope somebody reads this and gives you a bonus or a raise. You are one heck of a guy and I am glad to know people like you still exist in this world

This location has the oddest placement, however, it is convenient for those that live within the…read moreneighborhood and those that frequently drive along Chicago Ave. If I were not familiar with the area I would not think that there was an Advance Auto Parts in this area because it is just not fitting. The location does have its own parking space which is well enough for its customer in-and-out flow. An empty, lifeless vibe is what I felt prior to and once I entered. It is like a gas station placed out in the middle of the desert to give you an idea of its atmosphere. If it were not one customer who had the hood of his vehicle up in the parking lot I probably would have thought that this place was closed. My visit was solely to purchase a rear brake light bulb because I was pulled over by an officer for it being out, so my visit was quick. Their system was down, so the associate required me to bring in the bulb in order for them to look up the part number to better assist me. There was no enthusiasm whatsoever during our interaction; the encounter was straight to the point, but professional!
