First off let me say this, certain people shouldn't be parts managers to begin with then they lack customer service skills. My sister went to this store to buy a CV Axle for her car, since the boot was torn on the OEM one on her car from age, she checked online which autozone has it in stick so she can buy it and take it to her mechanic the next day to install. First off, she was helped by this Hispanic woman with glasses, medium build, my sister didn't catch her name but noted on the name tag that this associate is a parts manager. My sister gets called up to the counter, tells the woman what she wants. The woman mumbles something and my sister had to ask what because it was inaudible. Then the woman says passenger or driver side. So my sister says the passenger side and the woman pulls up the info for available parts. The Duralast gold version of the CV Axle shows in the system there is 2 in stock. So my sister chooses this Axle and the woman calls Fernando, a slender mustaches HISPANIC male, another manager, to get the part because my sister is paying with cash. So my sister proceeds to the first register by the door and the woman already brings up the transaction with total and Fernando brings the part. My sister immediately caught something sketchy. The box had a shipping label.and my sister asks why does it have someone's label. The woman says because it had to get shipped by FedEx. My sister asks so was it a return? My sister also demands they bring the other part that isn't previously returned as my sister recalls the screen said there is 2 in stock of the Axle. The woman keeps persisting that this is the only one that ahe doesn't have any more. My sister didn't want to argue and cause a scene because obviously she was being lied to by the worker. My sister then asks the woman to open it up so she can see what's inside. This upset my sister very much because since this woman and Fernando are supposed parts managers, they are supposed to cater to the customer demands. If a customer doesn't want this previous return to be resold as new when it's potentially damaged or wrong part for car, they are obligated to bring the other part that was in stock to satisfy the customer. If not, then she could at least have offered my sister to open the box instead of my sister asking. My sister isn't a mechanic but she is not stupid either. My sister isn't a mechanic so she couldn't determine if the part in fact is for her car. The woman tells my sister that it has the Axle nut so it's all.good. but my sister wasn't satisfied. The axle has been removed from the bag that it comes in. Bag supposed to be sealed. But it came open. But my sister was already frustrated and she accepted it thinking maybe the person who returned the Axle screwed up on the car model or side of Axle they needed or depending on transmission it's different Axle. My sister also expressed the concern that she is taking it to the mechanic and want it to fit. Being a female, my sister expected better treatment from the woman worker to at least make the effort to bring bring other Axle or to at least offer looking at other nearby stores and have a driver dispatched to pick it up and deliver it to the Touhy store so my sister can have peace of mind. But no. All those options were thrown out the window with this parts manager. At that point, my sister felt like the parts managers behavior was that of a pushy salesman where you are pushed into buying something that you sense isn't right. read more

Autozone is just my next to my apartment and they are open 24 hours. I had a trouble with my jeep last time and they allowed me to park overnight since the engine wont start. They checked my car and advised me to bring it to the dealer. They will tell you the problem right away. Consultation is free of charge. This AutoZone was great. The employees helped me select good windshield wipers on a Sunday at 6 pm. The store was very busy. I was panicking because my driver side blade had broken and snow was forecasted that night. An employee got my new blades installed and lifted my hood so I could pour in a whole new container of winter wiper fluid. I had gone to the AZ in Edgewater first because I was closer to this store and their service was HORRIBLE. Ugh. I'll alway go to the Touhy store. Autozone switched my battery, I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else. This happened a few weeks ago, I didn't realized they gave me the wrong battery, my neighbor ​sent her son to take my battery out of my suv, it sits in the rear passenger floor. When he removed it, she stated Teresa that's not your battery, she then pointed out my battery was new, had labels on it and this one was old, no labels and a branded number on top. We went back to autozone. The manager MJ said because I didn't catch the mistake and two weeks had passed, there is nothing she can do. I called corporate and they took reports and never called back. Thus old used battery has stopped once again. I have no choice but to buy another new battery. Because the warranty is void, I don't have the battery. One thing I can say for sure. They look up parts for you, do courtesy holds, carry them to my truck if needed, and returns are hassle free, as are exchanges when parts are under warranty. They also replace windshield wipers...even in the rain...bulbs, they check check engine lights, you name it. They also have a rewards program. Sometimes there's a wait, but when they're able to do everything I need, it's worth it! read more

The service here is nice and friendly. Although it is difficult to distinguish employee and customer(because there seem to be no obvious uniform), they do recognize when you need help. This location can make copy of car keys with the chip inside. Which is so much easier and cheaper then going to a car dealer. Personally my favorite AutoZone for this reason. read more

Went to get my car battery charged here, and despite the fact that they told me it would be done in 30 minutes, it took 2.5 hours. Now, it should be noted that my car battery was pretty dead, but that discrepancy is pretty crazy. Their machinery is obviously off a bit, because every time I came back to see if it was done it wasn't. They told me to come back in 30 minutes, I did and they told me ten more minutes. I came back in ten and they told me the machine read 17 more minutes (how did it go up?). I went to get some food and came back in 25 minutes, and the mahince still read ten minutes. It kept going on like this for 2.5 hours. Ultimately, my battery did get charged and it's been great ever since, but I would have planned my day better knowing the process would take 2.5 hours instead of 30 minutes. That said, everyone was very kind and transparent the whole time. The issue was not the staff. It was the equipment. read more

This has always been my AutoZone of choice. No matter what I need, this is one of two auto parts stores I go to before I'll even consider the idea of going to a dealership or a body shop. I've had a stroke of luck with my car and hadn't been here since 2018 though, but I had a GREAT experience with this curly-haired guy on Sept. 29, 2018 who looked like he could model but was on the shorter side. (See old review.) I always had good customer service with the guys in there. But I must admit tonight's service with the men was abhorrent. Three different guys all avoided eye contact and tried their best not to really do any work. But the women in there asked me could they help almost immediately. One manager on the phone (Hispanic, maybe in late 20s/early 30s, long maroon-ish braids, about 5'5) confirmed that they could change a headlight for me. She assigned a guy to do it (football-playerish build, also Hispanic, dark hair, had hood and mask on so you couldn't see his face much, but I believe his name was Eric) who gave her a blank stare, strolled to the corner, then started randomly checking new customers out to avoid coming outside. Finally he walked toward the door, still averting eye contact, and I asked, "Are you too busy to help?" Looking off into space, he finally made eye contact and said he had to help some other guy (who wasn't even in the store) but if I went to my car, he'd be out in a few. I shook my head and drove off, trying to find another AutoZone location. But that one said it couldn't fix my headlight. I called back to talk to her again, and she was really convinced it could be done. She said if that other guy was too busy to do it (and the other two AutoZone locations already turned me down), she'd do it herself. I was relieved that the hoodie guy was not there when I got back. I did not want to deal with him again. And she kept her word. As soon as I walked in the door, she said "You!" and took my bulb. As soon as she was free a couple minutes later, she went outside with her phone and got to work. What annoys me is three guys decided they wanted to come check out her work, including the hoodie guy (Eric?) who got outside of someone's car (apparently he went to break). He walks over to me and goes "Bulb?" when he sees me. At this point, I just want him to get the hell away from me because he's been blahzay and kinda rude the whole time before. Then he just starts staring at parts, mumbles "air filter" and just walks off. No explanation. No nothing. I don't know who hired him, but he has no business working with customers. Put him in the stock area somewhere. He gets zero star and I hope he quits by the time I need to come back in that store. Then here comes another guy who was outside petting somebody's dog in a car forever, and then came over to give unsolicited tips. Then comes a third guy (my complexion, mid-20s) walks over to brag about his car expertise and how no one should challenge his opinions. IF YOU'RE NOT OUTSIDE TO HELP HER, SHUT UP! Go back to standing in the store ignoring me (and my car) from inside. But like a trooper, she came back and forth three times with different tools trying her best to do fix that headlight. At some point, she even got a mat and crawled under the car near the tire, trying to get this headlight in. She finally had to admit that the other two AutoZone locations were right, and this air filter is in the way. But even then, she was still too stubborn to do so before calling over a mechanic to ask him what steps I'd need to take to get this headlight replaced. She introduced the two of us (he didn't work for AutoZone), and he ended up repairing it on the spot. She also recommended another company less than a block down. I respected her for trying SO HARD to do this when none of the guys in the store acted like they knew they worked there. She's dope. I see why she's a manager, but she needs a better team (in my opinion). I came back to thank/tip her, wave at the other nice lady who works there and and pay the non-AutoZone mechanic for his work. But I really wish AZ would bring back all the guys who were there during the time I was frequenting the location more from 2015ish to 2018. They were pleasant, professional and actually wanted to be at work. If I go in here again (until the staff improves), I only want to talk to the women! And I'll leave altogether if that Hoodie guy and the Know-It-All are the only ones available. One time was plenty. Bring back Wavy Ponytail Guy and keep Sal close by. Let Hoodie and KIA work elsewhere. read more

I purchased a $15 item that could be used for windshield repair. My tech said it would not work for my windshield problem I went to return and showed my credit card online payment for receipt. The RUDE employee and dumb jerk manager refused a refund claiming my receipt showing purchase and their store number was not valid to get my money back. Another employee not involved decided to insult me as well. Just think if you made an expensive purchase that did not work for you, your in for rudeness and no cooperation and insults too. Most employees know him by name and are always super helpful and friendly. On few occasions i would call to ask about something oddly specific and each time they put lots of effort into making sure if it's in stock before I go into the store. The place is always very clean. Just went there because they sold my dad a new car battery saying that is the problem he has. The guy who installed the battery was 4 days in (told us by one of the other employees, I believe his name is Scott or David) and apparently had no idea what he was doing. Car started that first time, but after it would not start at all. I drive him back to AutoZone where a few terrible things happen. First, apparently you cannot return a product without a manager being there. So apparently they have the "authority" to "test" and "install" a battery, but can't take it out even though that is what broke my dad's car. Second, while talking to Scott/David I believe the manager (Gilbert the employee told us) told Scott/David to get back inside because there are customers. My dad said he was a customer and was sold a bad part, and Gilbert said he didn't care that we have to wait in line like everyone else with a smug look on his face and an arrogant tone, rolled his eyes at my dad, and walked back inside. Apparently if they sell you a bad part they do not have to take responsibility if the manager isn't around causing my dad to pay extra since he had to pay for a tow, and apparently they think they are entitled to treat customers like shit. Never doing business with AutoZone ever again. Update 1: Tow truck just came by. He had my dad try and start the car and he figured out that it was the starter that is bad (the starter AutoZone "tested" and said was good). No freaking help. Went to get a freaking 21mm 1/2 drive socket. They don't have it. They only got standard sockets in 1/2" drive. Really what sort of bootleg store is this. Had a few visits here previously, but decided to give a review because of an awesome employee who works at this location. This location is awesome because it's 24 hours and is great for my unconventional schedule. I'm very fortunate that during my visits there, McKenzie has always taken great care of me. He was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly! He always answers my questions, no matter how big or small. When buying a new battery for my car, he explained the process of checking battery the and alternator. Once I arrived to the store, he checked everything out, and helped me with the process of replacing and buying a new battery. It was very hot that day, and I truly appreciated his help! It doesn't matter what my needs are when I come in this location, he's always given excellent service! I automatically thought he was the manager there, unfortunately, he isn't. He should definitely get a promotion, he's a rock star! He's one of the reasons I patronize this location, and I tell all my friends in the area to go there and ask for him for their automotive needs. He's such an asset to this business. A lot of the time people go above and beyond and they don't get the recognition they deserve. I like to recognize the good just as much as the bad. I've never had a real problem with this AutoZone. In fact, they have gotten me out of a few late night pinches on snowy, horrible, Chicago wintery days! Staff is good and generally knowledgeable about basic auto concerns. They will also change windshield wipers for you and probably more. I had no idea this was a complimentary service. For example, they tried to change my headlight bulbs, but couldn't. This was in part due to policy (it was nighttime), and because my vehicle required the grill to be removed to access one of the lamps. Total 'A' for effort! Even though I had to do it myself, I was totally grateful that they tried and apologized when they realized they couldn't. I've been coming for years. read more

This location is open 24 hours a day, so that's great. Generally I'd say that the place has most of what I'm looking for, most of the time. They usually have more things in stock than the other Autozone stores. I'd say that in general, the prices are better than O'Reilly's. This place really is the "gear head" location with people working on their cars very actively in the lot. read more

They charged it for us, and let us know that it was bad- but also how to figure out what was wrong with the car ourselves. Which was awesome. First: It's open 24 hours! Second: There was an associate there tonight by the name of Daniel that deserves some recognition. He is the young man that helped me tonight. I went in looking for a specific oil fro my scooter that I called about in advance. I was told by an associate that they had it, but they didn't (minus 1*). When I got there, Daniel helped me look for it, to no avail, of course. Since I was there, I asked him to check the codes in my car since the service light was on, to find the bulb I needed for a blown turning signal light, and to suggest an oil brand since my oil was low. He did everything I asked. They are expected to do the 'check code' thing, so that wasn't extraordinary, but still appreciated. When he asked how much oil I needed, I wasn't sure since I hadn't checked the level in a week or two. I told him I'd go check, but he said he would do it for me. I purchased the bulb. After coming out to check the code and oil level, I purchased the the necessary items and went to return to my car. Daniel came with and put the oil in my engine and switched out my turn signal bulb, he volunteered. He explained to me the process of changing out the bulb as he performed the task since I had never done so before.Once all was said and done, I whipped out some wiper blades purchased from another store to put them on since there is currently a storm a-brewin' and I didn't want to be stuck in the downpour with my shi++y wipers, and he offered to put them on for me. I joked (since he said it was a busy night at the store) that he must not want to be bothered with the others. He simply said, "No, I don't mind helping you." He was personable, funny, and helpful to the best of his ability. I am praising him because I've worked in retail and I appreciate others that take the time to take the time with their customers. I truly believe retail stores are only as good as their associates and Daniel offered more than I would've expected. And his freckles are cute. read more
