If you have no knowledge of vehicle maintenance do yourself a favor and pay for a mechanic to look at the vehicle before you purchase. Although, the dealer should have a responsibility to over look their cars thoroughly, we made sure to look at every inch before spending thousands of dollars. Otherwise its best to just buy a new vehicle. My favorite part was dealing with the employees. We drove 2 hours to get there and had been in contact with Sergio the week prior about the vehicle we wanted. He went out of his way to make sure it was put on hold till we were able to see it. Answered every question we had but not once was he pushy (over-the-phone and on the lot). When we were on the lot we were able to test out our car seats and take our kids on the test drive as well. Once we were ready to sign the papers, we told them we had our own finance company and not once did they try and push theirs. I just purchased a 2009 GTI from this dealership. The car is immaculate, no scratches or dings on the exterior, and the interior looks/feels/smells brand new. We dealt with Brady, who we felt really went out of his way to try to help us get the car at the price we wanted. We got the car for a great price, they gave us a voucher to fill it with gas, and we are extremely happy with the vehicle. I think some people might be having issues with the dealership due to it small staff. I saw some reviews that complained about slow call return times, etc. and I think that might be due to the fact that they really don't have 20 sales guys running around like some of those big dealerships that treat you like dirt. To anyone reading, please stop and read this completely. It will inform you of what this dealership is about. Earlier today (8/12) my long journey with Fullerton Auto Square came to an end. It resulted in me giving my second, yes SECOND, car back and being refunded my down payment. I first hit these guys up somewhere between 2-3 months ago when I first began to look for a car. They were very friendly and did what they seem to do for everyone by picking me up. I saw a post about a Hyundai Accent with 98k miles for around $6k on autotrader and being that this would be my first car, I contacted them to take a look at the car. When I showed up at the lot, I noticed a few issues with the car that were not stated in the listing description but overall were no BIG deal. So I decided to finance the car. Now I give these guys credit for this: they got me approved for a deal that seemed to be near impossible. But it meant nothing after the experience I had with the car. 4 days after I had purchased the car, I was making a trip to Target at night. When I got in the car and turned on the lights, smoke came out of my dash (near where the turn signal meets the dash). I called the FAS immediately and told them what was happening. They told me to bring it in on that Monday. Monday comes and I handed the car over. I made my way to target just to have the car fail to start in the parking lot. The next day (sunday) the car broke down on my way home from the gym. So I didn't drive the car again until I took it back. From there I waited for them to let me know what was wrong. When they finally contacted me, they told me "nothing was wrong with the car but if you want your money back, we will go ahead and refund you." RED FLAG ALERT. I instantly knew that something was not right about this situation. They told me a few days later that the car had sold and the lady who bought it said she loved it and there was no problems with it (bull crap). My two theories: the car had so many issues that they didn't want to invest the money into fixing it because they would make no profit, or they did a quick fix on it just to move it to one of their other lots and make a quick sale. So if this wasn't bad enough, I made the stupid decision to buy a $12,000 04' Toyota Corolla off of them right after. They told me "the Hyundai was a special situation we usually never resell trade in cars like that." They worked some magic and got me into the Toyota which I loved. However, the next day I took the car on a little trip to Palm Springs (2 hour drive) for a couple of weeks. On my way there, the car started to act up by shaking violently on me and ultimately breaking down on me completely half way there. I called and spoke with Brady who is a manager and he asked me where I was so he could call a tow truck. I told him that I would try to cruise the slow lane to my hometown where I knew plenty of people who could take a look at the car and tell me what's wrong (so they don't spend money on a truck). I went on a trip to the mountains with my church for a week in which the car was parked and not touched. When I returned I made my trip back to Fullerton. 5 minutes into the drive the car broke down on me completely again. This time I told them where it was parked so they could tow it and that I wanted my money back. They towed the vehicle and contacted me a couple of days later and told me that there was a blown valve in the engine that they were going to fix and if I wanted the car after they fixed it, I could keep the car or just get my money back. I gave these guys a 3rd chance and took the car back. Just about a week ago they told me I needed to fill out some paperwork after I got the car back. I went in to fill out paperwork and they tell me that I have to reapply for a loan because the old one expired. I told them it wasn't even worth running my credit over and over again for a car that will probably break down on me all over again. at about 2pm today (8/12) I walked out of there with my money and I have no plans on going back. Having plenty of wise people around me who know about buying used cars, this place isn't just shady, they are intentionally out to sell you a mediocre car to make their money. The only good people I met in there are Angel and DJ. Two down to earth guys who are in the interest of YOU more than the sale. Mike (the main manager) is the sketchiest and cheapest person I have spoke to in a long while and will do anything to pull a quick one on you. Brady has a horrid attitude and just does whatever he can to make Mike happy (rip you off). Oh yeah did I mention that they were selling me the car with an 8% interest rate and then tried to tell me that they weren't making any money off the sale? LOL guys seriously, these guys will do whatever they can to put you in whatever car they can. They buy mediocre cars and try to sell them asap. Take your money elsewhere. Jose the sales guy was super accommodating of the fact that I live in San Diego, was communicative the entire time, but never pressured the sale, and even picked me up at the train station after he was off for the day to seal the deal. Purchased a 2016 Dodge Ram Pro Master van, drove it for 70 miles and broke it down. A/C had no refrigerant, battery is bad and transmission jumps when shifting to reverse or drive, and check engine light came on. I contacted dealership to ask about warranty since vehicle had been purchased 48 hrs prior, no one was able to explain what the warranty or return policy is. I took van back to dealership the following morning (Friday), it now Monday and still waiting to hear from them, I have called multiple times and have been told that they will call me once mechanic looks at van. How long does it take for a mechanic to inspect a car? It is obvious that vehicle was never inspected fully before it was sold or maybe it was and dealership is all about ripping people off. Dealership was quick to take money for vehicle and now they are in no rush to address issue with repairs. I will update once I hear back from dealership. read more

I recently purchased a 2015 Chevy Silverado from this dealership they had advertised. I really liked the truck, so I went in and met with Johnny! He was very helpful and courteous! I will say this to anyone going here, they do not negotiate on the price! We went back and forth over other costs. I have excellent credit and they originally offered 3.99%, but I knew they could do better. Jose started to deal with me from then on and he knew I wanted the truck. They finally offered 2.99% and eliminated other costs that I did not need (extended warranty, guaranteed 5 day contract, etc). I love my truck!! It was everything they advertised! I test drove it and it was exactly what I wanted! I opted for a credit union financing and used the "option contract" where my credit union sent the dealership a check for the full amount within 3 days! I would purchase from them again knowing what I know now. They treated me really well. They have some amazing cars on their lot!! read more

We acquired a nice, used Honda at this location--the only surprise was the mandatory LoJack, or LoJack type deal (don't recall exactly) that was installed in the car. But the point is, they will not negotiate on it's installation or the cost. Ok, it is pretty up front. Is the price for the system fair? I have no idea, honestly. But the overall cost for the car, was reasonable, the salesperson was nice, no complaints. They did not come up with costs at the last minute. It was also pretty quick, surprisingly so. Used to spending hours when I don't want to do that, no 10X10 sweat room here. However, the only thing that concerns me are all these really negative Yelp reviews; I have a background in testing and measurement and I know you need quite a large sample size to conclude anything and yet, I have glanced over so many now, 25 total, only 5 were positive, I must say I am perplexed. A sample size of 25 is pretty good to draw conclusions, UNLESS, someone out there is hiring people to write bad reviews. Could that be the case? I have heard of that happening, so it is not a new concept. I also note that management has made an effort to reply to each and every one of the bad reviews. Perhaps management can reply to what I have noted in the count. By the way, there are many pages of reviews, my group only came from the first page, hardly a "random" sample, so I am not trying to make a definitive statement, other than the obvious, that there are many bad reviews-and as I said, either it indicates a problem with them OR it indicates someone is out to get this business. FOR ME--I RECEIVED A GOOD DEAL AND WAS TREATED WELL. If I were management of this place, and was being shammed, I would be mad as hell--but if that is not happening, then of course the customer has the right to be concerned. The truck had an aftermarket Volant intake that is illegal to have in California, it will not pass smog! I went to three different smog shops and called Volant (the manufacture), they all informed me that it is in-fact illegal! So, I take the intake back to Auto Republic in Fullerton and ask them to replace it or compensate me for a new legal part. According to the DMV "If you sell a vehicle without a smog certification and it doesn't pass, the seller is responsible for repairing it to the smog certification standards." Once I explained the situation to Mike (the manager), he told me all our cars and trucks pass smog before they are sold. So, I asked, "how is it that you sold me a truck with an illegal part that is not CARB certified and therefore undeniably illegal and tell me that it is legal, either you found someone to pass it illegally or used some other illegal means to pass it." Mike did not have any valid explanation, he continued to deny there was any problem and refused to compensate. During the whole conversation he was very nervous and obviously well aware of their illegal practice to save a few bucks! I took the part into Mike's office and left it on the floor he didn't even care, now I am stuck paying $500 for an intake and can't register the vehicle until the new intake is installed. I had to miss a day of work as-well. If they are willing to lie to me about a simple fix what else have they lied about? read more

The sales person Ana and finance manager Harold were amazing, after 20 minutes of phone call I was able to get approved for the most beautiful Camaro SS I have ever seen! We spoke with Johnny for 3 days regarding a truck for my son. We actually made an appointment to come down (which for us was an hour and a half drive) to BUY the car and to our horror it was being test driven and sold in front of us. He didn't even have the decency to let us know so we wouldn't make the hour and a half drive down there. I would not recommend this dishonest place to anyone nor would I ever go back there. DISHONESTY is their game. So disappointing and bad business. Their general manager didn't even back us up...he was up for the buck and since they came while we were on our way, they sold the truck to them. My advice? DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE! I dealt with Tony who seemed like a very trustworthy and nice person. My wife and I filled out a credit app, and got approved. They came to use with numbers, and we said it was too much. After 15 minutes, they came back, yet the numbers were even higher. They played games right from the beginning. Once we finally came to an agreement on the price/monthly payments, yet had us refill out the credit app but WITHOUT my income....why???? We asked and they said so we wouldn't have to do income verification. At this point we just wanted to deal to be done, so we said fine. The car had issues which I said needed to be fixed. They agreed and took care of the minor ones I pointed out. I also asked if there was any mechanical issues and Tony said No, everything checked out great. Well he was lying. 3 days after driving the vehicle, there is a $35 part that is bad deep within the center console. The console makes a loud knocking sound every single time I adjust the climate control. I called tony and said that there is an issue, and he said he would talk to the manager. No response. A couple days later I said hey, what is going on. He said he was goin to ask the "recon manager" right now. Still no response 2 days later. Promises not kept, and to think that the dealership won't fix a $35 part is ridiculous. I would fix it but I'm not "car savy" and it requires taking the entire dash apart. Recently purchased a car here and had got a crack in the winshield within the first week I had the car...Darn rocks from a Semi Truck dumping part of it's load on the freeway...Anyhow...I took it back to the dealership for help, just because I needed it to get fixed ASAP before it split across the whole windshield. The guys in the Service Department took care of me super fast (within a day) and got their local windshield repair guy to come and and replace the windshield for a great low price as well. Also while here the service/electronic guys took a look at my radio head unit and adjusted some controls I was having some difficulty with...and now I don't have any issues with them at all. I signed th papers to purchased a vehicle from Cypress Motors that had a workorder to get the A/C recharded because the HVAC was not blowing cold air. I left my car there over the weekend and I was told I could pick the car up the following weekday. The day comes but the car was not ready because it needed a new compressor. I was told the car had to be picked up from Fullerton Auto Square, a sister dealer. Four business days after I paid for the vehicle, I picked the car up from Fullerton Auto Square. Two days after that, the A/C stopped working. I took the vehicle back to Fullerton Auto Square two day after that. Two more days after they called me up to say the car was ready. I picked up the car the following day and not half a mile after I drove away, the A/C stopped working. I stopped keeping track of all the A/C issues that occured following the first couple but basically my friend and I drove to Fullerton several times in the course of the following month to get this issue resolved. Fullerton Auto Square was just as irresponsible and unresponsive as Cypress Motors. I am very unhappy with the service. read more

I finally decided to write about my experience at this dealer. They have good customer service. Unfortunately as a first time buyer I had a horrible experience. I didn't know how buying a car worked, but I didn't test drive the car so I was okay with it. Until I was signing the contract they decided to gime me the car history. They car had been in 4 major car accidents and has major damage on the body frame work. I should have said something but i didn't because I had already signed the contract. After a few days of having the car, it started making a rattling noise near the motor. I check it underneath and the whole plastic that cover underneath the car was hanging and dragging on the floor. Also the break pedal is all patched up with a piece of wood. Why would someone sell this to another person. Bought a vehicle from them about a year ago and still have issues with it til this day. If its not one thing its another. Once you sign youre basically on your own because they fail to answer calls and the manager is always busy according to them. When i first turned on the vehicle i heard a noise and sergio acted like he didnt hear anything he just asked what noise. He even chased me down to buy the vehicle asking me not to leave. The vehicle had alot of cosmetic issues as well as internal issues. I would not recommend going there. I took it to get an issue fixed and the car sat in the same spot they didnt even bother to wash it. They basically gave me the run around and i had to figure things out on my own. I took it to a certified bmw dealer and have been fixing issues since aside from the 16% interest rate i was given. Im a first time vehicle buyer and definitely will not be going to a small dealer like this id rather go to a bigger certified dealer as i have been getting better service from them than i ever got from the dealer i bought it from. Originally came here to look at a 2015 M3. Initially told me the car had a clean title and no accidents whatsoever. During my inspection, noticed flaws in regards to the rear bumper. There was a distinct yellow tint on the bumper. When I brought that up they mentioned is was the lighting causing that yellow tint. Upon further inspection, noticed that the rear bumper had some loose screws causing the rear bumper to rattle. They then brought me inside and eventually told me the car was in two accidents. Be CAREFUL and make sure you get every detail before they try to go to financing.
