So it's hard to adequately express the horror I felt when I patted down my pockets--and then frantically dug into all six of them--only to realize that my keys were gone. Thank Jesus I had a spare house key hidden outside or I would have been in a terrible way, because I didn't bring my phone with me. But what about the electronic key fob for my Prius? I didn't have a spare. When it got light out I slowly retraced the my steps...three times. No soap. My key ring was nowhere to be found. It was looking like I would have to get my car towed to the Toyota dealership for the pleasure of getting a roughly $600 replacement fob. I had the unfortunate need to replace the remote key on my 2008 Honda Fit. I thought the price quoted was quite high at $225 but I suppose that's the penalty of owning one of these new-fangled horseless carriages with electro-keys. Other than the cost, my experience with Auto Locksmith was very satisfactory. He came just a few minutes late and called ahead of time to warn me. The replacement was done in my driveway in a matter of 30 mins. I am told that is longer than normal for the company, but it seems a much better option than towing the car to sit at the dealership and be overcharged out the tailpipe by those scoundrels. I Used Auto Locksmith to get a copy for a Volkswagen that needed to be programmed. Talked to them over the phone after calling two other local places (all mobile) which for my specific needs didn't really need. first thing that stood out was that pricing seemed very competitive across the board, or so I thought. I turned out that pricing for the actual key was $40 less from them. the reason I thought pricing was almost identical was because the other places charged 35-$40 plus a service trip fee.
