This place is a joke. I came here for a simple question about a light on and they took the car keys and said they'd look at it. At first I thought the wait would be okay with free wifi and I saw magazines and crayons for kids but I walked in at 3 and sat there til 5:23. Jokes on me, chairs were uncomfortable and there was NO AC. The workers seemed to completely disregard the car in general and I had to ask 3 times for them to finally look at the car and say something so irrelevant to the situation and then not even fix the light. Coming here was a complete waste of time on a Saturday afternoon when I normally don't have any time to go do anything in the first place. I would not recommend coming here. read more

Went there because car was making a lot of noise first they said it was a couple of bearings which they repaired and car was still making noise then said it was the ac compressor but the part was 800 I checked and got the part for 200 had my mechanic put it in and was not the ac compressor was the alternator. Used to trust these guys to conduct auto inspections, but they now fail you in the hopes of getting you to spend money. Was failed for bald rear tires in a car that has hardly been driven in the last 6 months--told the tread was worn down to the "warning bar." Went out and felt for the bar and found there was tread above it. Basically lied to my face and blamed it on the inspection worker. Now that my car is in the system as failed, I have to spend $s buying tires I clearly do not need. Will not buy the tires from them and will not be going back to them ever. Stay clear--they obviously count on their convenient location to bring business in regardless of how they go about it. read more

They get no stars. They repeatedly told me "I'm pretty sure this is the problem with your car" or "most likely this is the issue" and the cost is greater than $1000 doesn't cut it with me. The desk help is extremely condescending. My Prius is a 2005 with 201k, and they told me that my current mechanic (who is my personal friend) is stealing my money by giving me high mileage oil changes (after talking to me like I'm a child and I don't know anything). I asked for my car back to take it somewhere else, and five minutes later, they came back to me and asked if I was driving a different car--a Camry. Apparently, they thought I was driving something else and it was too late to take my Prius off the lift. Ridiculously disorganized. I appreciate it if you want to save me a few dollars, but you really shouldn't be talking to me like I'm an idiot. People generally don't like that. I won't be back. read more

Crazy slow. I went in for an inspection of my brand new car. One car is already parked in front of me in the inspection bay, hood up, two guys chatting. Nobody's in the waiting room. Several staff seen -- at least four, maybe half a dozen. 15 minutes, they tell me. Half an hour later I'm apologized to and told that the car in front has an inspection problem. ANOTHER half an hour later I'm told that they had to repair the problem, which was "tricky". What I realized a little later was that they did the repairs in the inspection bay. There's one inspection bay; several empty repair bays; several guys available to do work. But they didn't bother to move the car out for the "tricky" repairs so they could handle the inspection at the same time. So either they don't care about my time, or they had a significant failure of logic or thoughtfulness. Either way, I won't be back. read more

Dishonest mechanics. Same car, same day, two totally different diagnoses. Went for a "20 minute" inspection. An hour later it failed for "tires, exhaust, and e-break." It took them over two hours to get me a price quote. I came back in the afternoon (when the parts arrived). They re-diagnosed my car (which took an hour). This time I needed tires (as before) but the exhaust and e-break were fine. Instead they recommended replacing the breaks and (for good measure) the rotors too! No thank you! It took them an hour and a half to put four tires on the car and pass the inspection. During the 5.5 hours I spent in the waiting room, EVERYONE failed their inspections. And every time the mechanics offered to do a repair and get them out of there ASAP. Suspicious? A phone call to inquire about their business practices was unreturned despite assurances that it would be promptly. I followed up and talked to the manager who never apologized, denied everything, and said he'd find out why his mechanics were telling me two different things about the same car. I go to these guys because the location is convenient and the waiting room is roomy and comfortable. I've always had perfectly decent service for oil changes, etc. They are friendly and each service always felt like it took a reasonable amount of time. My past experience with them has made me a raving fan. They inspected my car months ago and failed it because of a break light. They looked into getting the part and were unable and told me I'd have to bring it to the dealer (Ford). Ford's customer service (in Northampton AND West Springfield) was so over the top the terrible that I reused to bring my car there and deal with those guys. Last week I brought my car to Auto Express and told them I still had a big R on my inspection sticker and asked if there was anyway around going to Ford. The Auto Express staff was SO HELPFUL!! They were able to order the part from Ford (and from what I could tell listening to the phone call had an equally bad customer service experience with Ford). They called me within a day or two to say it was in and I could come in anytime to get it fixed and get a new inspection. Within 20 minutes of giving them my keys my car was fixed! They didn't even charge me labor because it was such a quick fix, I'm so happy to have them nearby! read more

Showed up at 2:55 on a Saturday afternoon for an Oil Change. Was 2nd in line so I figured it would be quick. After a while I noticed that people that showed up over an Hour After me were getting their oil changes done and leaving. I sat in the waiting room until close , at 5pm. Turns out, they were taking cars from the Back of the line, and servicing them. Wasted over 2 hours of my Saturday, waiting for an overpriced oil change. When I asked why it took so long, I got a blank stare from the associate, with no answer. Will never come back. Will recommend to everyone I know, Never go here. read more

Great experience with them! Had to get my two front wheel bearings replaced unexpectedly and while out of town. They were able to get them done before I had to take a five hour drive and not only alerted me to the poor state of my brake pads, which my mechanic in my hometown had failed to notice, but also replaced them at the same time. Would go here regularly if I didn't live five hours away. read more

I am a service writer/ office manager in a garage in Maryland she is a student in Amherst .The people at Amherst Auto were great. Her repair was done in a timely manner, the price was reasonable and best of all when the labor hours were less than the estimated time they charged her the actual hours worked. Ok. So I've gone to this shop several times in the past few years when I've only had weekend time available because my regular, trusted mechanic of 20 + years is not open on the weekends. Last weekend I got my 2015 Prius serviced there for a routine oil change. 45 minutes after getting there, they call me up to the desk. I'm thinking it's to tell me my car is ready. Nooooooo, it's to tell me that I need the rear brakes serviced for 'uneven wear pattern.' I looked at the guy like he had 3 heads. Because the car was new to me 3 months old and I had gotten it serviced by the place I bought it from. The look on my face must have registered because he immediately said "You don't have to get it done here, but we are required to tell you for safety reasons." I didn't believe him. So I brought the car to my regular mechanic today. They said there was nothing wrong with the car after taking it for a test drive and taking the brakes apart and inspecting them. They DID however notice an oil leak and a loose oil plug and asked if I had had the oil changed on the car recently. "As a matter of fact, yes-- by the same people who told me the brakes were bad!!!" So not only did I not need new brakes, they did a crappy job with what I paid them to do . Of note: four years ago when I came back to the valley, I brought my husband's truck in for a sticker. They told me he needed the e- brake repaired to the tune of $500 or he couldn't get a sticker. I told them forget it as I had no time to do it then and would schedule with our regular mechanic. That's what I did the next week-- and the car got a sticker just fine as there was NOTHING WRONG with the ebrake. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

DO NOT GO TO AUTOEXPRESS on Route 9 in Hadley MA. They are liars are completely incompetent. I brought my car to them for my state inspection, it failed, but they said if I left my car with them overnight, I would be leaving with my exhaust fixed and a new inspection sticker by noon the next day. Didn't hear from them by noon, so I have them a call. They gave me the run around BS that is hasn't been looked at yet but if I can by around closing, it'll be ready for me to drive home. I arrive 15 minutes before closing time to see my car still on the lift. They tell me that the technician who can weld my exhaust wasn't able to get to my car today (thank you AutoExpress for NOT telling me that before I got a ride over). Once again, they promise if I leave it overnight with them again, it'll be fixed first thing in the morning. It was already up on the lift so they assured me I would be the first car worked on. They also told me that this technician welding the exhaust instead of them having to replace the whole thing, would save me hundreds of dollars. I call the next day because I have not heard from AutoExpress all day...they tell me that the welding technician that can in was not the technician with the specific skill set to weld my exhaust. When my husband arrive to get my car, the guys behind the counter were shocked at how furious we are that they lied to me. They also refused to give up the name of the manager. Auto Express is the place to go if you need work done on your car in the Amherst Hadley area. I had a persistent problem with my 2006 Charger that several other mechanics could not fix prior to my visit with Eman and his crew. The prices were very low and the work quality was very high. I've never had such good customer service either. Even when they were very busy, the owner took time to call me personally and inform me what was going on with my car and he saved me money on parts. I'm from Boston and mechanics around there would have charged at least twice what he was charging. I would recommend Auto Express to everyone who needs a quick, cheap, high quality fix. read more

I got my brakes replaced and they did the job well, the lady at the front desk asked me what the mechanics had quoted me at the day before to make sure they didn't go over the quote, and I ended up being charged $250 instead of $340 as quoted, because they realized they did not need to re-install new calipers, so obviously they were not trying to make me pay for unnecessary stuff. Had an inspection done. I was told my tires were bald and it wouldn't pass! The tires are 1 years old with over a half inch of tread. No signs of the wear bars, the tires are fine! I had 5 other mechanics look at them and they all said the same thing. There was no reason the tires should have failed. It was one of those 'girl' things where there fail you for being a girl and think you are stupid. The guy at the desk knew I was being ripped off, the inspector needs to be FIRED! read more

Dishonest. I went here to get my car inspected and I was told that my car failed because the passenger side suspension was off. When I asked what was wrong with it I got a condescending response and was told that I would have to have that garage look at it tomorrow and that I HAD to bring it to the same garage for reinspection(not true). I brought my car to a new mechanic for inspection and was told there was nothing wrong with the suspension. I suspect the dishonesty had something to trying to make money off of a female who didn't know anything about cars. Will not be returning. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR AN INSPECTION!!! I was the only one at the place, it took over an hour and I was failed for a break light, which I checked all of prior to entering the parking lot. They offered to replace the bulb for 35 dollars. I asked the egotistical technician if he was sure the light was out and his reply was "Its not hard to tell if a light is out, if you don't replace it I will fail you". I asked to see the light and I was told I wasn't allowed in the garage. I was suspicious enough so I paid for my failure and left. There were not any brake lights out, as I checked as soon as they pulled my car out of the garage. I drove to the Amherst location a few days later and I passed. I will never ever go back to either location. I will not support a business that makes money by being a bunch of lying snakes. I was a regular at auto express, prior to this incident. The owners should fire the technician at the Hadley location. It is not an honest business and they are willing to loose customers over a quick, dishonest, buck. read more

Was there for inspection and Got the Big red R due to ebrake not holding tight enough, I Was told they could take a look as not busy and see if could be adjusted and I would then pass inspection. My car is a Hybrid does have some specific needs and knowledge to work on. Unfortunately the mechanic who first tried to look at it and diagnose did not have that training or experience, so when took apart my brakes to check them out and then put them back together the car had absolutely no E brake, and the pedal went to floor. I was then told the brakes needed to be bled due his checking them. Fortunately I am aware of some of the specifics of this vehicle and this operation is not possible on a my hybrid without using toyota techstream software. This action taken would have been a big problem had I agreed. I told manager no and wanted car back to way I brought it in, He was very understanding and this is where Jeremy the ambassador of auto lube and Jay the master mechanic came to my rescue. They both reassured me and Jay with his experience was knowledge were able to get my car back and fully adjust my brake to then pass inspection. I was not charged and the manager ,Jeremy and Jay all apologized for the inexperienced mechanics error and my inconvenience. I really appreciate the honesty of the manager, and these 2 mechanics going out of the way to make thing right. Jay you are the master mechanic and should be in charge of the service and repairs and who can do them. Jeremy love your customer service skills, frequent updates when dealing with the public.
