I was super duper impressed by my experience at ESP Auto. I needed an oil change, inspection, and new tires. They were totally fine with me ordering my own tires, did a great job on the oil change, and despite not doing inspections directly: sent my car off to be inspected at another shop. The attitudes of the staff were amazing (contrary to my experience with Complete Automotive in Easthampton). They went out of their way, were affordable, and really seemed to care about my experience. We'll be going to them from now on. read more

I specifically asked, before I booked the appointment, if the $133 per tire price they quoted me included mounting and balancing, and was told that it did, and it also included an alignment. When I received the invoice, they charged an additional $105 ($29.95/tire) for mounting and balancing, and $79.00 for the alignment. I called an asked them about this, and they condescendingly told me that I must have misunderstood the yes or no answer to my wholly unambiguous question. If they said that they misspoke, or took any small amount of responsibility at all, I would've been okay with it, but they bent over backwards to put all of the blame on me. This occurred after I decided to give them another chance, even though a few years earlier, they gave me an estimate for my exhaust and asserted that my muffler's flange was bad, but when I went to another shop, they showed me on the lift that this flange was completely intact. They do decent work but you cannot take them at their word when they quote you a price. read more

Very Honest, professional and organized. The reception area is clean and well lit. The receptionist/scheduler is polite and efficient. The auto mechanics are HONEST and are able to clearly communicate what is going on with your car and offer a range of options to keep the car running properly and safely. They do not nickel and dime you by recommending unneeded pre-maintenance items (like changing brake pads when they have 25% left), but they will let you know that you'll need to keep an eye on those pads. We've had them work on our older 4Runner and our newer Infiniti sedan, and have been happy with both services. They have become our go to mechanic in Easthampton. read more

The "ESP" in the name is in honor of Edward Stanley Plaza, a local, highly competent, all-around local mechanic and brilliant mechanical diagnostician who opened his shop a few years after returning from service during WWII, and taught ESP's owners the trade. After Eddie died they bought his business and opened their shop on Pleasant St. They are master auto mechanics standing on the shoulder of a giant. Their competence and gracious customer service have earned my loyalty, just as Eddie's did for the same reasons. They stand by their work. If a problem should arise that they have (rarely) overlooked--or (even more rarely) have caused, they will correct it free of charge. In my experience here, such a situation has arisen once during the 15+ years that ESP has serviced my vehicles. If your car will need further work the next day, they have a few loaner cars available at no charge (reserve one when you make your appointment !). All you pay for is the gas. This is a convenience that very few small auto shops offer any place ! If you are shopping for a vehicle, they provide a pre-purchase inspection for a reasonable fee. Wait ! I brought my car here after the dealership who did my oil change said my car needed boatloads of work. My vehicle is fairly new so I was hesitant- so I brought it ESP for a second opinion. The folks here were kind, they fit me in next day and they assured me my car was good to go for at least another 5-7k miles before any maintenance work was needed. Rare is the repair shop that gets you in right away and then after giving you an initial estimate, calls to tell you it's much less after taking it apart. ESP did both those things. 5 star service! This place is a hidden gem. My clutch after 170,000 miles was acting up and they told me it needed a new one, well done Subaru with such a solid car! They replaced it within a few days and told me a bunch of options and spent the time going over the cost vs benefit for each one. They also spent the time going over my entire car and getting to know it and found a few other small issues and once again explained to me the cost vs benefits of each part vs waiting to get them fixed. Superior Customer service and repairs!!! Picture this... me a woman traveling alone Friday afternoon, Memorial day weekend with 2 Springer Spaniels; 91 South from Vermont when at exit 18 in Massachusetts a piece of metal came off the car in front of me, I was able to avoid the first piece then a second piece hit the underneath of my car. So I am thinking great I will probably have a flat tire, plan to pull off exit 17 to check the car over. Well, I begin to notice smoke coming from the rear of my car and then the car stops driving, I pull over (prior to exit 17) and call AAA. They offered to have the vehicle towed to a nearby authorized service center ESP Auto Inc. We showed up at the shop at 4 pm, the gentlemen were kind and offered the dogs and I come in and wait while they see what the trouble was. Upon inspection the piece of metal ripped a hole in the transmission pan, I am thinking I better prepare to rent a car; But they were able to get the part and install it on the spot! Being a Friday and the 3 day weekend they were very busy with their regular customers; but they took the time to take care of a stranger. I am thankful for their expeditious service! Dan and the crew are great to deal with, especially if you need to prioritize what gets done on your car. They'll tell you everything that should be done and then let you know what really needs to get done immediately. They worked with me to give me enough information about my vehicle (actually my previous vehicle - an '08 Subaru Outback) so I could decide whether I wanted to make all repairs or just some repairs. I had to write a review as I almost sold my car based on an estimate provided by ESP. This was the second time I brought my car to them as my usual Mechanic is ill and not doing work. I dropped of my car and asked them to check my brakes as there was a grinding noise and check the power steering as it was leaking fluid. I got a call that my tires needed to be replaced, total exhaust system needed replacement and a total brake job both front and back. I said I wasn't doing tires as it was almost time to put on snows. They said without tires I was looking at $4k. I decided for $4k, it was time for a new car as mine had over 100K miles on it. I even went car shopping and was on the fence as I really didn't want to buy a car right away. Someone recommended another repair shop. I told them the same issues and the cost was less than $1K. I go to independent shops to avoid the dealership rip-offs. I won't be coming back here ever again as they were over selling me of what needed to be done and I almost bought a new car over it. By the way they don't know what summer performance tires look like, as the ties were used a total of 9 months and didn't need replacing. read more
