I was super duper impressed by my experience at ESP Auto. I needed an oil change, inspection, and…read morenew tires. They were totally fine with me ordering my own tires, did a great job on the oil change, and despite not doing inspections directly: sent my car off to be inspected at another shop. The attitudes of the staff were amazing (contrary to my experience with Complete Automotive in Easthampton). They went out of their way, were affordable, and really seemed to care about my experience. We'll be going to them from now on.

When I received the invoice, they charged an additional $105 ($29.95/tire) for mounting and balancing, and $79.00 for the alignment. I called an asked them about this, and they condescendingly told me that I must have misunderstood the yes or no answer to my wholly unambiguous question. If they said that they misspoke, or took any small amount of responsibility at all, I would've been okay with it, but they bent over backwards to put all of the blame on me. This occurred after I decided to give them another chance, even though a few years earlier, they gave me an estimate for my exhaust and asserted that my muffler's flange was bad, but when I went to another shop, they showed me on the lift that this flange was completely intact. They do decent work but you cannot take them at their word when they quote you a price.

If you like good customer service, look further. This place is a poorly run dump. I went to have my…read morecar inspected. First, the building is a mess, and the entrance is not very clear. I went in and was told to park in front of the last garage, where a guy would meet me. After waiting several minutes, a guy came out and told me to move my car, so I moved it to a parking spot, if you can call it that, since there was about 30 square feet of puddle. The guy hovered right next to my door as I got out, and then he got in without saying anything. I asked, "How long will it take?" and heard the response, "Five! Thirty-five!" I said, "So, five minutes, or 35 minutes?" And he said, "Five minutes!" So I said, "Okay, I'll be back in a bit then, going to go across the street." What happened next was like a scene out of a bad movie. The guy just kept shouting "35!" at me, like half a dozen times, while I said, "Yeah, I know, it's $35." "35!" "I will pay you when I get back." "35!" "Do you mean you want the money now? I don't have any cash. I have a card. I can just pay you in a few minutes when you're done." "35!" "I have never been asked to pay upfront for a car inspection before, is that what you're asking?" "35!" "I don't have cash on me." Finally, a full sentence. "You said you had a card, just give it to me now." I am not about to give my card to this guy, who looks and acts like he's drunk and clearly isn't carrying a card reader. I'm starting to wonder if he even really works there. So I say, "Look, I have never been asked to pay upfront for a car inspection before. I can pay you when I get back in a few minutes, because it's not like I am going to go anywhere: you do have my car. Or I can just take my business someplace else." Instead of responding, he just gets out of my car and walks away. So I go back in the front and ask if this is how they run their business, and the guy at the desk says, "Well I told you you needed $35." (No, he didn't.) I told him that the other guy had poor communication skills, and explained that I don't care if I have to pay upfront when it is clearly communicated in a way reflective of good customer service, and not just shouted at me repetitively in a way that isn't clear. At this point, the other guy comes out and starts shouting at me again, saying he usually says "35" three times, but this time said it five time, implying that I must be an idiot for not understanding what his neanderthal-like method of single word communication meant. I let them know that they needed to improve their communication skills and customer service and that I would be taking my business someplace else, and I left.

Ok, I don't know who answered the phone, but he was really, really mean for no reason. I told him…read morethe problem and he rudely listed things I could have done that might have caused it, including berating me for speeding (which has absolutely nothing to do with the problem and is untrue) and not "cleaning up after myself." Then he told me he "might" be able to get to my car if I dropped it off, but it "obviously wouldn't be a priority." I told him I'd get back to him after making some other calls and he said "if you want someone else to do it, go ahead" and then hung up on me. I'm generally really forgiving of people in service jobs but this was truly unnecessary and honestly just hurtful. I won't be going there and I will be warning others against it.

When we got to the parking lot where I live, he took the car off the truck and was going to back it into my space. The car would not start (because the battery was dead...HIS fault!) so, he just left it there blocking the entire driveway and said, "you'll have to deal with it". I could not even push it because it's AWD so I couldn't put it in neutral. He could have easily put it back on his truck and moved it to a different spot where it wasn't blocking traffic and blocking someone in. Very mean, angry, nasty old man!! I'm SO glad I didn't have it towed to his garage...WAY OVERPRICED!!!!!
