As an update to this review I would note that the owner was very responsive to my concerns and…read moreactually drove to my home to refund the full price of this last repair. He was very apologetic for the misunderstanding about the quoted price and wanted to show his appreciation for our patronage. Maybe we'll give it one more shot. Here is my original review: "I have used Cichy's twice before for routine work like changing trailer tires, and my MIL used them for a muffler replacement. Both times, during the COVID pandemic. The service and cost was HORRENDOUS. In fact, it took them a month and constant prodding to get the tires done. So when my MIL needed a new gas filter I was hesitant to use Cichy's but figured I'd give him one more shot. I called ahead for an estimate, gave the car make model and year and part needed and got an approximate cost of $45-$50. My MIL was there for two hours because they didn't have the part after saying they'd order it ahead. And they charged her $108 for a 15 minute filter change. " Not sure who quoted that original price but in the end the owner gave my MIL a free repair, which was not requested, but was much appreciated.

I feel that I can just leave my car to John here without having to compare notes from several places. This is one of the few places that will honestly tell you that you don't need to fix something you think you needed instead of always trying to scare you into fixing things you don't actually need. At one time I brought my car in for ABS light and started by saying I might need to replace the ABS module. John didn't take advantage of this at all and completely fixed the issue by replacing two electrical cables. I only wish that they were located closer to me so that it's easier when I needed to come back a few times to debug problems. Nonetheless, I'd still spend the extra one hour round trip to drive here instead of going to the mechanics who are closer, including one that has a suspicious 5-star rating with 100+ reviews.

I'm not one to write negative reviews for several reasons, but this one is well earned. Their…read moreservice is unreliable and they seem to underestimate the value of potential new customers. They over-promise and under-deliver. I am new to the area, so it was my first time dealing with this company. Since my riding mower is in need of maintenance, and they are in the same town as myself, I called them two days ago and scheduled for them to pick it up today at 2:00 pm. By 2:30 I called and was reassured that the driver may be running late. So I waited. Patiently.... By 5:30 I called and was told that the driver had gone for the day and that he had told them that the mower was not out by 11 am so it (the mower) was therefore not collected. OK. First of all the voice message from the driver the previous day confirmed to me that the pick up would occur at 2 pm today. Second, no one told me that the mower had to be out waiting for it to be picked up. Moreover, I would not leave it out to be picked up: it is a riding mower and they will need the key, therefore I am not as naive to assume there is no risk of it being stolen with the ignition key in the switch. Let us assume that is the case, that I would leave the mower outside. Is it that difficult to ring the door bell? But that is besides the point since 11 am was not the agreed time. At any rate, the lady at the other end of the line, admittedly courteous, proposed during my second call at 5:30 pm proposed that my mower be picked up next week. Talk about taking responsibility for their own mistakes! It will take me less time to find someone else with a more reliable time management skill set, and who are more considerate towards their customers' own time. In fact it will take me less time to do the maintenance work myself. Oh but wait, this company ought to have the time management skill set and infrastructure since they claim to have been in this line of business for as long as they have. Hmmm. Time to consider personnel change, one that communicates between themselves. Or perhaps a change in their line of business. As far as I'm concerned I do not want to do business with a firm that underestimates the value of their future clients' time, and overestimates their management skills. Over-promising and under-delivering some people call it.

We scheduled a time with Amanda, and arrived excited to see the vehicle. It turned out it was still in transit. (Or so we thought.) We test drove the same car, but as an automatic (we required manual). Eager to begin negotiations, Greg informed us that the vehicle that we came to test drive (with the intent on purchasing) had already been sold! He wouldn't sell it to us. We understood, and I respect his integrity and care of an existing customer. We shifted our focus to a GTI Autobahn. We purchased the car, but it was missing a key! We purchased and took the car home on Tuesday, but it wasn't until Monday the following week that the issue was solved. It took two trips (140 miles total), and many hours in the dealer each time to solve them. In the end, it all could've been solved without the traveling, via mail and telephone. If you're a salesman, Greg is a model guy. Friendly, informed, but WILL NOT budge on price. Very skilled, but very frustrating. Sadly, though, as much as I'd like to, when we buy another car (which we will be soon), I don't see us returning to Northampton VW. Lack of willingness to negotiate, and organization in solving our issues are the reasons behind that. There are many other dealers around, and though they likely won't be as friendly (it'd be hard to beat this team!), price and organization is more important and they were simply not competitive in those respects. In the end, Greg worked with us to solve the issue, friendly and supportive the entire time. It just could've been handled more smoothly in my opinion, and saved us much of time and hassle. Thanks for getting us into a car we love!

The process from start to finish was flawless and we are happy with our car. The service dept put tires on a few days after and noticed the brakes were going to be needing to be replaced soon so David, the general manager, took it upon himself to authorize the repair without a charge. I would highly recommend Northhampton VW and especially Jason Leclair as a salesperson. Any dealer would be proud to have 8 of him.
