I asked for a 2009 Honda CRV he got !! Don't get me wrong The shop is nice get your work done there Don't buy anything from them ... When somebody goes through an auction gets u a car and they want 8,500 for it but I noticed immediately cracked windshield so I got it for 8,200 first issues check engine lights gas vents they fixed .. they've put more miles on driving then me told me to eat shit yesterday . Rudest people I've come across in quite some time. I left my car to be inspected and was told I would get a phone call when it was ready in about an hour and a half. I got no phone call and when I returned after an hour and 20 minutes later I was told they could not do the inspection because of a seatbelt issue with seats that aren't even in the van. The bald dude that does inspections was so rude to the point where he threatened to physically assault me because I was shutting my door of the car and happened to brush him while he was verbally assaulting me for being annoyed with him.. They did state inspection for my car which went fine, no complaints, but when I called back asking about a repair estimate the guy was generally really grumpy that I called, and said "this better be quick, we're closing soon". (More than an hour before closing). So sorry to take up your time! Won't happen again, I promise. I've taken my car here several times for repairs. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other garages in the area and they usually are able to do the work quickly once they get it into their shop. But the real reason Ernie's garage is the best garage for car repair is their honesty. I brought my car in due to a misfire. They took a look and told me it'd be better for me to take to a dodge dealership because the replacement was still under warranty. They could have done the work there and charged me for it, I had no idea it was under warranty, instead they told me how to get it repaired for free. They did what was in my best interest. They didn't make any money from me this time, but I know in the future I can bring my car here and get an honest answer. read more

Ernie's has been taking care of my cars for years now, through at least three different used cars. I really can't say enough about how good they are - fast, honest, repairs always cost less than I expect. I used to have a real beater and they helped me keep it on the road year after year. I waited a week for an appointment, but when I showed up there was no record of it and the guy at the counter was extremely rude. I was told I'd be able to get it looked at at 8am, and he said no mechanics were in yet, complained that everyone was waiting for their cars today, and told me go to Firestone. I recommend going half a mile down the street to Northampton Tire & Auto Service. They got me in right away and had it fixed within a few hours. They were respectful, while Ernie's was condescending. read more

I hate writing this because all my past experiences brining my car to Ernie's, before Ernie retired, were always so wonderful. I never felt ignored, dismissed, or bad about giving my business to his garage. I'm not sure what's happened with the new ownership but I can say with confidence that after my recent experience, I will not be using Ernie's again. It wasn't just feeling my business didn't matter but more, walking into a tiny space during a wave in Covid cases and not one person at the counter wore a mask, speaks volumes about how the ownership feels about the wellbeing of their customers. read more

Terrible service. Called a week or so ahead and they gave me a day and time to drop my car off- since I work early morning I said I'd drop it off the night before. Did that, dropped the key in the key slot (where there is no place to write your name or anything with your key) and thought it'd be fine. Called the next day to check on it and a woman working the desk scolded and proceeded to yell at me on the phone for thinking I could just drop my car off and that they had no idea what it was doing there (???). Once I told her the whole situation she said "well what do you want us to do about it?" Took days to get it checked out after that- and they never called back when they said they would. Finally it was done and I had to bring it back for a retest the next week- which they forgot about again. Oh and this was all just for an inspection. Take your business elsewhere. read more

It's so refreshing when people actually seem to enjoy solving a mystery rather than seeing it as another pain in the ass that's going to plague the rest of their miserable work day. Ernie and his crew have taken care of my family's basic mechanical needs for decades. They are honest, reliable, friendly and ridiculously cheap! I always feel like I'm in good hands with them, and I hate when I get referred elsewhere for the more complicated work (certain electrical stuff, etc.). I remember one time a few years back, my dad had something wrong in a barely-accessible place deep behind his dashboard. When everyone else winced and groaned, Mike at Ernie's seemed to delight in the tedious challenge. He painstakingly dismantled my dad's dash into about a billion parts all carefully laid out on a tarp. It took him the better part of a day, but he didn't balk or seem any worse for the wear. I can't remember what he charged for all of that, but I remember we all agreed that it didn't seem like nearly enough. But that's one of the many beauties of Ernie's; they're practically apologetic if your bill climbs much over $100, and they'll go over it with you line by line as if they need to justify! Many times, I feel like my bill elsewhere would have about tripled what Ernie's charged me. They are also a full-service gas station, and I make a point of giving them my gas business every once in a while. Even though it costs me a little more than if I were to go to a self-serve place, I so much appreciate that they're there for me and I want to do my part to ensure that they'll be around for generations of locals to come. No masks on any of the four working staff. No gloves. No wipe down of the car after driving it in and backing it out.

I trust Ernie's to fix my car quickly at a reasonable price. They don't pretend my car needs expensive repairs when it doesn't.

I've brought my car to Ernie's many times for oil changes, inspection, and repairs. First of all, the man at the front desk is very dismissive. One time when I brought my car to get an inspection, i told them one of my lights was out, so if they could fix it before that would be great. they agreed, and I got a call back a few hours later saying my car failed inspection. I asked why and they said "one of your lights are out," and i said "yes, I thought I asked for that to get fixed," and they said, "Yeah, but we couldn't figure out how to open the trunk, and the trunk needs to be open to get to the light." A car repair company doesn't know how to open a trunk!!?!?! I explained to them that you need to hold the button on my key to open the trunk and they and proceeded to fix the light and I passed inspection. I had also got 2 catalytic converter's replaced here. the first one they had replaced, and somehow they didn't notice the another one needed replacing? I had to come back a week later to get the other one replaced. Another time, I had called to say that I wasn't able to pick up my car till after they closed, and to leave the car unlocked with the key in it. When I had arrived to get my car, (a 30 minute drive from my house) I found that they had forgot to put my key in the car and the car was locked. I had to come back the next morning to get my car. Overall, I would say Ernies Garage will fix the problem you ask for, but nothing more. and I can say that I do not trust this shop anymore with my car! read more

Used to work for Ernies when it all 1st started ,back in 1968 .Iam going to try to get my job back when the time comes to shut down the pumps . I was the 1st to use and sell the gas at the pumps .And its only right i should be the last one to use them at the shutdown .. Got a flat tire closeby the shop. Spare tire was low on air so I brought it over there to ask if I can use his air compressor. I walked in and told some guy that I got a flat tire. Before I could explain my situation, he yelled at me that the store is closed and get out. Next time if you are closed, lock your front door. My car broke down in Northampton and the tow truck driver suggested Ernie's. They originally thought my car was going to need a very expensive repair. I was distraught over the news but told them to go ahead and fix it. The next day they called to tell me my car was fixed and it only cost the a small fraction of what they expected. I feel that some other garage might have gone ahead with the original repair and I would never have been the wiser. I was and am so impressed with their honesty and integrity. read more

I use Ernie's Sunoco ever year for my car inspection for over the last 20+ years. Wayne does Mass Inspections 6 days per week. That's all he does because they are so busy.The owner Ernie is still working there in his 70's. I love Ernie's because it is the only full service gas station I know of in Massachusetts.On a 10 degree winter day when you need gas and don't want to face the cold, I can tell you the attendant sure comes in handy while you sit in your warm car and he fills up your gas tank for you..They don't advertise for car repair and I just never thought about it until I had a headlight out and the mechanic changed it for me right away. So I asked others how good was the repairs and everybody I talked to said they are great and don't do any work until you approve it. Nothing but Honesty and Respect for the customer at Ernie's.They are my one stop shop for everything.I highly recommend Ernie's. read more

Will never take car here again. New owners are terrible and can't believe what they say. Took SUV there because it was over heating in the morning. That day it wasn't even looked at and I had a long ways home. They never called to say anything. I got to the shop to pick up and they said they never looked at it. So now I had to call someone to pick me up and bring me to work the next day. 45 min ride. Anyways they looked at it the next day and said it was the thermostat. So I had them replace it. Well it was still over heating. I asked him why did they tell me it was the thermostat if that wasn't the issue. He got really upset and now said it was the radiator or that I blew the engine. But said I could still drive it like that. I had it towed back home. And he charged me $220 to change the thermostat hat wasn't needed. Well I ended up selling the SUV. Because I didn't want to buy a engine. Well the person who bought it fixed the issue and it was just air bubbles in the line. Easy fix. I feel like they were trying to get money out of me. I am so upset because I love my SUV and I did not want to part ways with it and that was paid off. I bought a new vehicle that I didn't Need and have car payments now. They do not know what they are doing but guessing at there work and trying to get money out of you. Especially if your a woman. Would have given zero stars. read more
