Don't go to Auto Express in Hadley. They now do shoddy work that is costing me a lot more money to get it fixed elsewhere. I used to go to them for years for oil changes, car inspections, new tires etc. My car failed inspection today at another place because the tires I bought there 1.5 years ago were worn out. In March, I had to have my rotors, brakes and pads replaced at Lia Toyoto in Northampton because the ones done by Auto Express the year before was "a pad slap job, no lubrication. This caused pads to seize and scored and damaged rotors." Auto Express owes me over $1,000. I have talked, texted and stopped by Reliance Auto to speak to the owners to get this taken care of. No response. Now I will send a certified letter and then take them to Small Claims Court. Save yourself the aggravation, don't go here. read more

I went to this place for a simple inspection sticker and they created this huge $3000 in charges laundry list to fix everything that has nothing to do with an inspection! Change axle? All new brake lines when they were just replaced 2 years ago? Brake calipers and pads when they were just done 5,000 miles ago. They had rust on then but thats normal. I will never recommend this place unless you enjoy being bent over. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else that doesnt have 8 bays they are trying to fill with unnecessary work at your expense! read more

I went in for an inspection on an older Toyota RAV4. It's in pretty good shape, but it failed due to an exhaust problem. They showed me when it was on the lift that there were leaks which was true. However, they told me the entire exhaust system would need to be replaced for over $2,000. I left there and took it to an independent shop where they replaced the muffler only for $500. I bought it back to them and it quickly passed the inspection. If you get a high estimate for repairs there, please get a second or a third estimate before you let them work on your car. read more

I've been going to Auto Express for several years. No more. Last week following a routine oil change my car engine light came on unexpectedly - fair enough. Brought it back to the shop, got charged $600 or thereabouts for new spark plugs and coils. Fine. Leaving the garage my car has a new crack in the windshield - told to talk to the owner... who is never there when I call, m never returns hone calls. Given the runaround for several more days, I am resigned to having insurance deal with the damage. Then, the engine light turns on again! Now I'm really annoyed. My wife calls, and is told to bring the car in on Sunday, where the owner will be there and make everything good. Come in on a Sunday to discover the owner ISN'T there and THERE"S NO WAY TO MAKE THINGS GOOD, because they don't have access to parts. To top it off, owner is on the phone suggesting my wife misunderstood...Takes years to build trust and , I guess , I week to shatter it. read more

The good: I've been coming here for a number of years and, in the past, have found it to provide good service at reasonable prices. With regard to a comment made six months ago that the waiting area was grubby and worn, I made note today that the seating all appeared to be new, well spaced apart, comfortable, and appeared to be an easy clean in this era of COVID. The bad: I brought my car in first-thing for a wheel change to my snow tires/wheels. I made careful mention of the TPM sensors and asked that they be sure everything was in good working order to which I got a "yeah, sure." Comment. After I drove away and gave the car a chance to reset to the sensors, I got a malfunction status warning. I brought the car back only to be told there were no technicians who could help me on the weekends and that all scanning tools to address the issue are locked away. I have been told to come back during the week. The last time I came in for an oil change and new wipers, they forgot the wipers, told me they were backed up and that I should come back another day. Providing service is important. Providing good service and listening to your customers or at least reading the items on a service sheet is even more important. I'm not prepared to write these guys off, but I'm close. read more

I had brought my Subaru in for an oil charge in Nov. 2021 and twice within 3 months my car was leaked oil. I had to fill it up both times and I was afraid I was going to ruin my engine. So I had scheduled to have my car looked at by a mechanic until a friend had mention to me to go back to where I got my oil charge. I told them what had happened and to check if they might of closed my oil cap too tight or it's too loose. Sure enough it was loose and they fix it but they Never bothered to changed filter after my oil level was on empty twice. Now I am smelling fumes which I hope did not ruin my engine. I used to love this place. Mark the manager is a nice guy. The last 2 times I came they really had Horrible communication. 1st time they never told me it would be Hours until they could even look at my car. I waited and waited and finally the mechanic said.. "oh we didn't know you were waiting". 2nd time I brought in my car and said I have to be out of here by 3. I was there at 8 am. they still hadn't looked at my car by 1 pm! They should have said "we cant service your car in that time frame" and I would have gone somewhere else. Then he said I need a master mechanic to look at your car ( "check gauges" light was on) and they didn't have one available! Now I have no car to go on vacation today. I had good quick service there -- just 2 simple things: an oil change & an inspection. The mechanics were nice and efficient and got it done quickly. However, I felt like the customer area needed some TLC. They had wifi (yay!) but the space was pretty grubby: chairs with worn upholstery, some overflowing garbage, stuff left on the floor, and some old newspapers laying on the tables from last week as well as last month. Also the outside sign indicating the inspection sticker month was a month off, and was still from last month. Maybe they are short staffed and/or maybe they are just focused on cars and not the aesthetics, but appearances matter too, and cleaner customer waiting areas and restrooms can help inspire customer confidence and encourage customers to return for future services. read more

UPDATE: I wish I could give this 0 stars because that's what they deserve. I took my car to a more reputable mechanic who determined that the transmission Auto Express put in, to replace the one that they destroyed, is no good and needs replacing (conveniently, the two year warranty expired just before the issue was diagnosed...and they conveniently weren't able to diagnose it, despite me bringing them my car at least three times for this issue...). Additionally, apparently the catalytic converter Auto Express put in a year or two ago already needs replacing, as well as some brake parts that they supposedly worked on within the last few years. Either they're lying to me or they're using garbage parts. Either way, I'm about to sink several thousand dollars into my car to rectify the crappy work they did. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN AN OIL CHANGE OR AN INSPECTION. read more

This past week I stopped in at Auto Express to get an oil change before our trip and have to say that I was impressed by the experience I had at this location. The Staff was extremely polite, they made me feel comfortable in their waiting area, and the oil change was quick! I was in and out of the store in 30 minutes. They had a large waiting area with a coffee bar, a section with a TV, and clean restrooms. The only critique that I have about this location is that the oil change was a bit more expensive than some of the competitors in the area, but I didn't have to wait for an oil change which was great. Please save yourself the torture. I have had three cars inspected here. None other than three years old. They failed all three. The first time I brought it immediately to the dealership and they told me nothing was wrong. They did nothing and then it passed. The second time I was suspect and I brought it the next day to a different infection site and it passed. The third time, yes it was foolish to have a third time, they failed it for tires. I brought it to a trusted tire place and they told me while they were low they didn't know any place that would have failed for this purpose. If I knew how to report them to an agency I would. I strongly believe they are just trying to get business out of inspection. I never write reviews and certainly not bad reviews because I don't want to relive the experience but I hope this saves someone to torture. read more

My son tried to get his inspection here. They told him the car needed $2000 in repairs including new tires and brakes. He knew that wasn't true since we had recently done the brakes on his car. He took the car elsewhere and got a sticker without any incident. DO NOT bring your car to this place. I have recently gone to get my oil changed here. My 2011 honda had nothing wrong with it. When I recieved my car back from the oil change my stereo would not turn on AT ALL. So the owner told me an oil change has nothing to do with the radio... but he looked at the fuses and told me they were good and said itd be 85 bucks to take out the radio just to look at it. What a strange coincidence. Also after mentioning to others I work with theyve told me shady stories about this place. Needless to say I'll never go back and I will warn of my experience and things I've heard from those I know! Word of mouth is big for a business! I'm disappointed with this Auto Express. I ordered a tire for my car. I called ahead to make sure it was ordered and told a staff member when I would be coming to have said tire installed. I arrived and was told it would take 2 - 3 hours. Replace tire and realignment on front wheels. I told the staff I would go off for a bike ride. I returned hoping to find the car had at least been getting worked on. Instead I was told the tire I ordered was returned to the warehouse! Another tire would be arriving soon. I had to wait another 2 or so hours for the car to be fixed. I'd like to suggest this auto express create a system where staff inform each other, and label and find a place to keep tires and or other parts ordered so they are in stock when said customer comes in to have their car fixed. I will not be returning to this auto express for work. On a positive not I have sued the auto express in Amherst and have been happy with the staff and service there. Up for a standard oil change on an '09 Toyota, nothing fancy. They told me it'd be 15 minutes, but it was more like 45. A little while after I got the car back, the "Maintenance Required" light starts flashing, and a little while later, now it's on permanently. What's the point of an oil change if they're not going to update the "Maintenance Required" light which is the new electronic way that cars work these days, and that all my other garages have handled without a hitch. Also at one point, another customer waited 7-10 minutes for the guy to show up at the front desk. And there was no temperature control for the huge windowed waiting area, which is hot in both the winter and summer. Not a fan. read more

So I've been all over the area and have had car work done from many garages. This was my first time here and I will most definitely be back! They were very kind, helpful, and they were not pushy. They also didn't scope out my car for "problems" so they could make an extra buck off of me. I went in for a tire change and I was in and out within 30 minutes. I even sat in their comfortable air conditioned lounge watching the news on my phone using their free wifi. To sum it all up. Brought my car to a mechanic today only to find that the tint is fine and they didn't even bother to try an emissions test - which passed with flying colors. This place is incredibly slow. All I had to get done was to replace front brake pads. I specifically asked them if they needed to get a part or they could do it right away and he said they could do it right away. When there, he said it would take about an hour. After 2.5 hours of waiting, when I finally enquired what's up, he tells me they have the wheels off ready to start working but are still waiting for the brakes to come in. Pretty sad place. I have never in my life written a review for a place but I had such an awful experience that I figured I would just to warn people about coming here. In the midst of having groceries in my car and laundry going at the laundromat, I stopped over to get a quick oil change. About midway through, they called me in to the garage to take a look at something. They showed me a "leaking brake line", which I thought was extremely odd because I assure you my brakes were NOT leaking before I came and were working just fine. I drive my car every day and I have not had any issues with my brakes, so I figured that whatever it is, it can wait until I have more time to get it actually looked at. Afterwards, they had me sign some type of waiver indicating they noted the brake line and they are not responsible for any further damages. I also figured this was standard, albeit a bit odd. I should have listened to my gut and spoke up sooner, because upon entering my car to leave my brakes DO NOT WORK AT ALL. The brake pedal sank all the way to the floor. I literally cannot drive my car out of the place. I was so upset and told the workers that my brakes were absolutely fine before I got there and after they change my oil I can't even drive out of there. They kept repeating that they tried telling me, and that my brakes were on their way out anyway. I have a very hard time believing that between me parking my car at their garage and them getting it up on the lift that my brake lines went. While I don't believe they intentionally destroyed my brakes, SOMETHING happened in that garage and they were not honest about it. If I drive into a shop and my car is fine, I should be able to drive out. They used the waiver against me absolving themselves of any responsibility or accountability of what happened. Where I believe that it's possible I needed new brakes sometime within the next year or so, whatever they did in that garage really helped it along. I don't find these people to be trustworthy at all. They offered no support, suggestions, or explanations. All they said was it's a "cheap fix". I had to have a friend come and drive my car out of there to a new mechanic, driving 5mph with the hazards just to go 5 minutes down the road. 1k later and I can finally drive my car again. I tried to contact the place in hopes to reach the owner, but of course, I haven't heard back. A good mechanic should be honest, and should own up to any mistakes that are made. Not to mention I came here for an inspection very recently and they reported no issues to me. Anyone would be suspicious if they were in my shoes.
