I said you didn't even diagnose what was wrong with tire, you just automatically went to get money out of me. I said there is only one place I can get an honest opinion and that is Duffy Tire. They are Northampton's first tire company established over 50 years ago before the big chains came in with there slick advertising to lure you in with there low prices. Well the old saying still stands ,you get what you pay for.Jim Duffy has been working for his father since he was 9 years old.Nobody knows more about tires than Jim Duffy.Jim did a full inspection on the tire and said you must of hit one of those sewer holes raised above the road during construction on Prospect street and popped the seal. I'll take care of that real quick. Tire has been good ever since. I asked what do I owe you, he said nothing, I take care of my long term loyal customers. Was called and told my vehicle was finished and ready for pickup. After driving started to hear a whapping noise around one tire. Had it looked at. Found out that 2 of the 5 lug nuts about fell right off and a 3rd was one twist before falling off. I spoke with the manager and stated my concerns. He apologized and said he would talk to his staff about this. I told him this is unacceptable as people are trusting you with their vehicles. When you say its ready for pickup, they assume it ready to be driven. I'm just glad I didn't drive far and didn't have my children with me. The person I had look at it afterwards stated if 1 more fell off, it would have been a lot worse for me. Luckily nothing else was damaged.

So I've been driving it for almost two weeks utterly petrified that it's going to fall apart at any second. I decided on a second opinion so I brought it to Route 9 Auto. I was seen immediately and the first thing he did was quote me a much more reasonable and affordable price for fixing the wheel bearing. That was awesome. But then, after we brought the car in and put it up, he diagnosed that the wheel bearing is actually fine. I do have some suspension wear I am going to have to deal with, but my wheel isn't about to fall off my car. I did have a sightly bent rim, so he swapped it with a rear tire and the thing rides fine now. And he didn't even charge me. As a woman, I get a lot of bullshit at mechanics. I'm not particularly car-savvy but I'm not stupid, and if you tell me what is wrong with my car I will, in fact, understand you. You're talking about cars, not lapsing into archaic Latin. It's exhausting to have to second-guess every mechanic you talk to. I don't second-guess Route 9 Auto. I know I don't have to. I've always been taken seriously, I've never felt jerked around, and I appreciate having things explained to me in plain language. Most of all, I appreciate the honesty.
