When I arrived, Firestone really stepped up to the plate. They were very professional, friendly, open and honest. I am recently out of grad school, and in June I had just started my first big job when my ancient car needed a lot of things replaced all at once. I drive everywhere to work in peoples' homes for the work that I do. It was devastating because I was also up for inspection. They knew that I didn't have the money or time right away, but they gave me as much help as possible over the span of two weeks. They waived a lot of fees because the cost of my repairs was going to be quite high. In addition they gave me a free (except for insurance) rental car for work when I needed it. Also when I ventured off into Hadley on foot during a 5 hour stretch of repairs, they personally came to pick me up and took me home out of courtesy. Firestone really did me a solid and didn't make me pay for anything unexpected or unreasonable, e.g. they replaced a very expensive part for free because I was already paying a lot and it just so happened that my car was so poorly made/warped that even the pipes ordered from the dealer didn't fit into my car's converter. I feel more comfortable going to these guys than anyone else after that experience and I have been recommending them to people since. My car has been running well since the repairs, and I appreciated the very welcoming and understanding service.

He apologized and said he would talk to his staff about this. I told him this is unacceptable as people are trusting you with their vehicles. When you say its ready for pickup, they assume it ready to be driven. I'm just glad I didn't drive far and didn't have my children with me. So I've been driving it for almost two weeks utterly petrified that it's going to fall apart at any second. I decided on a second opinion so I brought it to Route 9 Auto. I was seen immediately and the first thing he did was quote me a much more reasonable and affordable price for fixing the wheel bearing. That was awesome. But then, after we brought the car in and put it up, he diagnosed that the wheel bearing is actually fine. I do have some suspension wear I am going to have to deal with, but my wheel isn't about to fall off my car. I did have a sightly bent rim, so he swapped it with a rear tire and the thing rides fine now. And he didn't even charge me. As a woman, I get a lot of bullshit at mechanics. I'm not particularly car-savvy but I'm not stupid, and if you tell me what is wrong with my car I will, in fact, understand you. You're talking about cars, not lapsing into archaic Latin. It's exhausting to have to second-guess every mechanic you talk to. I don't second-guess Route 9 Auto. I know I don't have to. I've always been taken seriously, I've never felt jerked around, and I appreciate having things explained to me in plain language. Most of all, I appreciate the honesty.
