If you are considering AE&F, do it. Carlos is an absolute legend and brought my VW Eurovan back to life. After going to 3 different mechanics (one of them a specialist) and spending thousands of dollars for essentially nothing, Carlos was able to fully diagnose my issues and resolve the problems. My van has truly never run better. He also included incredibly detailed notes about what he fixed and how he went about fixing it. I'm so grateful I found a mechanic I can finally trust! read more

Carlos solved an issue that I had been chasing for over a year that two other shops (including a dealership) couldn't figure out. One of those shops actually referred me to Carlos as THE guy that can figure things out when others can't. Yes his prices are a bit higher but you get an unmatched level of diagnostic capability and he guarantees results. read more

Appears to be a busy shop that offers knowledgeable and quality service. My problem is that he is very expensive and not accommodating or helpful at all. There are other quality shops who are busy but will offer you advice and earn your business in the future. Carlos won't help you at all or offer any advice. So, I fixed it myself for free. Thanks to Powermaster and YouTube!! read more

I had an issue with a ground cable that they and made up for me. I brought the issue up to Carlos with my receipt and pictures of the issue. I couldn't bring the cable back in because the vehicle was out of state and had to be repaired to run properly. Carlos appoliged confirmed it was an there error and paid me a full refund for the cable. Great guy, stands behind his work. I would recommed him and if I needed electrical work in the future I would bring it to him. read more

Carlos is the BEST in the west!!! Our family is still so thrilled with the service that Carlos has given our '65!! Looking back I can't believe how other mechanics have gotten away with their mediocre work. I remember how nervous I used to be driving Lois because she would all of a sudden die when I would be driving her, obviously the previous mechanics who worked on her weren't gifted the way Carlos is! We have been going to Carlos for a few years and he has done routine maintenance, new radiator, suspension, electrical trouble shooting, etc. We won't take Lois to anyone else because he is so FANTASTIC!! read more

Carlos and Sarah make a great team at Auto Electric and fuel. I have a 1985 Chevrolet with a CARB Legal GM E Rod Crate engine and it had a lot of gremlins. I had issues with the check engine light staying on, water pump leaking, a starter problem, AC blowing hot air and the fuel gauge not working. Carlos took his time to fix the electrical issues and all of the other issues that I earlier mentioned. Sahara does a walk through before and after repairs to confirm the condition of the vehicle with me and reviewed all of the issues that were resolved in the estimate. If you want a shop that does a thorough job, guarantees their work and doesn't rush the customer, I strongly recommend Auto Electric and Fuel. read more

Carlos completed the repairs with his usual superior competence, at reasonable (for today) prices, even when impaired by a prior organization's careless assembly hindering the current disassembly. That hindrance ruined my own attempt at the repair. read more

arrived at the shop .told them about my electrical issues with my car. Carlos got straight to the route of the issue and fixed the electrical problem on my seat . now I'm able to adjust my seat . thanks to Carlos read more

I found auto electric and fuel via yelp and was impressed by the work they performed on my 1968 thunderbird which is not an easy car to work on due to the dated electrical system and vacuum lines. This was a bit of a project involving various electrical and fuel system projects but the process, needs, and options were explained to me and if there was any issue that came up, I was kept in the loop. I plan on calling on Carlos and team in the future. read more

Diagnostic for electrical issues was comprehensive (more than just an OBD scan) and well done; not the least expensive price quote (I got more than a few) but the shop stands behind their work which many other shops don't do. Subsequent repairs were well done and the shop also guaranteed the work. Would definitely recommend them. read more

We visited Pep Boys in Contra Costa a while back for a dead battery for our van. They replaced our battery with one that was too small for the vehicle which most likely caused a number of things to go wrong. Carlos was able to diagnose our issues, find a few other ones and handle them quickly. While the cost to diagnose the problems was a bit high, but I am super confident that he got us sorted out. I have never been to a mechanic that was so communicative and made things easy to understand and set the expectations so well. He was kind enough to help us out with a complete service of the vehicle, wash and vacuum. He even fixed a broken blinker for us. Overall, I felt really well taken care of coming here. That doesn't happen often leaving a mechanic. Thank you Carlos! read more

We had an electrical issue with our 2008 BMW and came across Auto Electric and Fuel on yelp. The condition of the car made us concerned that the issue was going to be irreparable. From the beginning Carlos explained the process, answered all of our questions and communicated with us throughout the duration of the repair. We cannot be more happier with our choice on using Auto Electric and Fuel! If you have any electrical or transmission problems, look no further, Carlos will take great care of you! Thank you again Carlos! -Oscar Molina read more

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Carlos is extremely knowledgeable, understanding, and good to work with. They do amazing work. I wouldn't trust anyone else to do electrical work on any of my vehicles. I'd recommend Auto Electric & Fuel to anyone who wants someone they can trust working on their vehicle. read more

Great service and very fair! Recently my truck had some electrical issues. It was one of those things that wouldn't do it when you showed it to a mechanic but a day later would have the problem when no one was around. The guys at Auto Electric and Fuel kept my truck at the shop for 3 days in order to replicate the problem I was having. They were then able to track down the problem and fix it. Throughout the process they kept me in the loop and I got the feeling I was working some real honest people. Over all I was glad I took my truck and electrical problem to Auto Electric and Fuel. read more

I don't know where to begin, because this has been "a long strange trip". In March of 2023 my GMC pickup was parked on the street in San Francisco and was broken into with the goal of stealing it. The thief used a grinder - idiot/s - to saw off the ignition, and in the process did extensive damage to the ignition system. For 14 months I went from shop to shop (towing) to get the vehicle up and running. Some mechanics didn't want to touch it. Others couldn't figure out what was wrong, others still seemed to be in cahoots with my insurance company. Then finally I found Carlos with Auto Electric and Fuel. The first moment I spoke with Carlos, I relaxed. He reassured me that he would find the problem and fix it, despite me protesting by saying, "I don't really believe it can be done." He also said that once it was fixed he would guarantee the work. Relief! Now be aware, his diagnostic was not cheap. But in this case, you really get what you pay for. Having your vehicle down for 14 months and paying for ill fated diagnostics from other mechanics isn't cheap either. His notes were absolutely detailed. He systematically tested each and every part of my ignition system. I have never seen that level of diagnostic by a mechanic. When I told him that the insurance company was denying my claim, he wrote me a letter to give to the insurance company detailing why the repair should be covered and refuted their (very bogus) grounds for denial. That's right, a shop that will actually stand up for the consumer and not the insurance company. Auto Electric is a rare bird, and one that should be appreciated in this day and age. Many thanks to Carlos and his team for standing by me and getting my vehicle up and running. My only regret was that I didn't find Carlos and Auto Electric and Fuel sooner. read more

I highly recommend you take your vehicle to Carlos for all your vehicle's free needs. Carlos is not only an excellent mechanic, he is also an electrical genius. Ran into an electrical problem with 2001 Ford Excursion following the torrential rains at New Year's. Carlos made the time to figure out what the problem was and was able to make the needed repairs and identified where the water was leaking in that caused the problem. Carlos provides a reliable service with consistently great results at reasonable prices. Cannot say enough about how great he is read more

Awesome customer service and quality work. Great place to go for electrical repairs if you are in need

I posted the original incident 4months ago and since filed a formal report w/ The State Bureau of Automotive Repair who investigated this mechanic shop and my claim founding it to be a truthful. And that in fact this shop was responsible for the damages "vandalism" done to my vehicle while in this shop. Thanks to DCA and the police report filed as well, I was refunded for the vandalism by Auto Electric & Fuel. I suggest anyone trusting there vehicle to this shop beware, and take a close inspection of your own; as they may leave needing more work then necessary. Creating problems to turn a profit on a senior citizen is certainly a dirty immoral way to keep business. Stereotypical dishonest mechanic shop. Sad. Good Luck :/ read more

We could not be happier with the service Carlos has given us over the years. He is extremely thorough and has solved issues that the dealer said they solved, but didn't. We will not go anywhere else. read more

My headlight wasn't working and needed a small part replaced. The part cost 39.88. They charged me $370.00 in labor. . . That is $370 for "replacing the low beam headlight connector"!!!!!! See photo of the piece. They (Carlos) also quoted me over $900 to replace the entire headlight assembly, which he HIGHLY recommended I do, and over $600 to replace my coolant tubes. The tubes cost $68 online and there's a 2 minute YouTube video for how to do it. I will not be going back to these guys. read more

This business is superb!! I had a problem with the door ajar light and chime going off constantly while driving, when all the doors were shut securely. Carlos did a thorough diagnosis and was able to identify the electrical problem. He informed me of the problem, and provided me what was needed and the associated costs to repair. Everything was fixed perfectly, and what a relief to be driving without the annoying chime. Highly recommend this business!!! Thank you Carlos and team! read more

My BMW wouldn't pass smog and was with a non-dealer repair shop who specializes in BMWs for about a month, who replaced the CO2 sensors. However they couldn't figure out why the code wouldn't clear. The guy at the smog shop recommended Auto Electric and Fuel noting that if anyone can figure out the issue, they can. He was right. Carlos was able to diagnose the problem and fix it, keeping me posted every step of the way. He went above and beyond to make sure I was a satisfied customer. I have a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. Her name is Brandy. She's a fantastic vehicle that never had any major breakdowns, but was deteriorating with age. She sat unused for years. Turns out I needed to drive her across the state and deep within the Sierra mountains on a 1 lane rd that is known for being one of the roughest roads in California. I did not hesitate. Promptly took it to Carlos, 1 week later got the vehicle back. The key is that Carlos was continually looking at items that might need a repair. He would call me and recommend this repair now, that repair later, but always keeping my best interests in mind. As I was driving away it was clear that the vehicle was operating at a level that she had not felt for a long time. Smoooooth. Drove into the deepest part of the Sierra with a confidence that is required when you are in that kind of country. Breakdowns are strongly not recommended. Drove out without a concern. Just wanted to give this shop a shout out. I have been to 2 different shops and wasted my money they said they fixed the problem or never could find the problem...Carlos was amazing straight forward on cost and told me exactly what was wrong with my car, he fixed it right the first time....wish I found this shop first would have saved me so much time and money. Will definitely be back, I have found my go to shop. read more

Auto Electric and Fuel (mainly Carlos) has been tremendously helpful. He specifically went above and beyond to take care of all my cars electric issues And more. Very friendly, knowledgeable about car electric issues , tons of previous experience, customer oriented and the attention to details is spot on. Recently I needed to drop my suv off to have a random issue with my turn signals working and not working repaired. I didn't know if it was old wiring that needed replacement or what it could be as my vehicle is almost twenty years old. I dropped it off on Thursday with plans to pick it up the next day because of the randomness of the problem which could necessitate some time to find it and diagnose the issue. Carlos discovered what was going on and repaired the wiring. Some of which needed to be customized since the part was no longer made by the manufacturer since the vehicle hasn't been made since 2015. The custom wiring harness was repaired near the steering wheel and after driving it for several weeks after the repair it has never failed once. The excellence that Carlos and his employees maintain in hunting down notoriously difficult problems makes me giving him my business an easy decision. He backs it up with a two year guarantee on their work. read more

The lady Michelle ( I think that was her name) at the front desk was super nice and helpful. I came in around 1:15 pm and told her my tail light wasn't going on and I tried replacing the bulb already. To my surprise, she took me in right away. She explained every detail about what needed to be done and even showed me 2 other bulbs that weren't working. I waited inside and was offered coffee, water, or soda but I said " no thank you". I liked how at the end she gave me a print out of everything and was very personable and understanding. I feel like customer service is very important and she nailed it. I'll definitely be back if I ever have anymore car issues. And the best part, I can now drive at night with peace of mind and I'll be able to see better when backing up. read more

2003 Lexus is awesome but getting old and needs regular attention, and Carlos just came through for us once again. Gas gauge was acting funny, so he did a quick diagnostic check on very short notice to make sure things were safe. He's done much more in the past (like replacing the head gasket about 2 years ago), and the car is still running great. Always very considerate and thorough, and very reasonable pricing. Professional and prompt and transparent, Carlos tells you clearly what he's going to do and what the costs/knowns/unknowns are likely to be, then explains everything well throughout every stage of the process. read more

This business is very professional and completely transparent! Carlos was absolutely wonderful to work with! I had a check engine light on for over 3 months and I had exhausted all possibilities I took it to over three different shops without any end to this problem in sight, I finally broke down and took it into Carlos and he said it would be $390 just for the diagnosis!?! Needless to say I wasn't happy to hear this since I have already fixed the problems that the code was telling me. I took a moment to decide but since this car is my pride and joy (black 350Z 2008 nismo edition) I had no choice but to find what the actual problem was. To make a long story a bit shorter let's just say it was a wise investment in Carlos and his team! They found a few problems that other mechanics were unable or unwilling to find, fist of all the back O2 sensors needed replacing (as i thought would be ther case) as well as both catalytic converters, as well as a lot of other small wiring and other problems that were causing the car to not run or communicate properly. This was not a cheap or quick fix but Carlos made me feel at ease by explaining exactly where the problem lies and what the solution to that problem is, and this could not be done by the 3 other best mechanics that I've been doing business with. I can't recommend this shop enuf, for big or small problems talk to Carlos first before you waste your money at another shop! read more

I decided to let somebody install some beat in my car July the 2nd or 3rd. I don't remember when exactly. But I know I was without a car on July 4th. I literally tried to call numerous places to come diagnose my car because it was not running. I got in contact with Michelle and she was very very helpful. She was in full communication with me throughout the process. We had an ETA of three weeks for a part. But that came in sooner and she gave me a call and let me know everything and updated me often. When I got my car back yesterday I was very impressed. My car was spotless! I recommend this place 100%. I'm so grateful for this place because I am now back in my car! It's running great! I own a plumbing business in the Bay Area, we brought one of our service vehicles in to have an electrical issue accessed and despite the shop being very busy they were able to accommodate next day appointment! Somehow they were able to make it work, they stayed late and got the job done for us which we greatly appreciated. The price was fair and customer service was great.
