My sister was here last year, she got rims for her SUV. Whenever she speaks highly of a business I usually like to check them out because she's on the money when it comes to good people and once again, she was right. I came into Auto Customs on a Friday, I wanted rims for my car and instantly was greeted by Brandon who's as solid as they come. Me and my son sat down and looked through different recommendations until we decided on a brand- paid it off and Brandon let me know he'd call me when they arrived. About a week later we made the appointment and got them put on, as quick as I arrived I left. While I was there I met Jeff, and you can tell that the good ownership trickles down to everyone at the shop. I talked to one of their mechanics as the shop opened, another cool guy but I didn't get his name. All and all, they're great people- I can see why they're highly recommended by so many people. I have the worst luck! On Tues morning, my parked car was hit when someone drove onto my driveway and rammed into it. That bastid didn't even have the courtesy to stop or leave a note, how rude! I was livid but I couldn't do a thing about it because I had to go to work and didn't have time to file a police report. Remembering that Auto Customs does great auto detailing, I contacted Jon and asked if he could help me out by trying to buff/polish out the bumper to make it look less noticeable. I wanted to see how deep the damage really was under all those scratches, I would decide from there whether or not to have it repainted. My car really needed a good wash and detailing, it's been a while. In addition to the regular wash/wax, I wanted to get leather conditioning, waterspot removal, fallout removal (clay bar treatment to safely remove impurities from your paint) and carpet shampoo for stains (if any). I got a really good deal. Detailer Shawn took a look at my bumper and said that he could get most of the scratches out. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP! I originally went to them for a quote/estimate for a minor problem. I asked the front desk how much the hourly rate was to diagnose the problem but instead the techs were already working on my car WITHOUT giving me the estimate & agreeing to it. The job they did on my car was supposed to be a 30min job max, but they took 3hrs!!!! I paid $200 for 3 hrs!! What a rip off! & to make things worse the job wasn't done correctly! Super happy with the business at this place! I had a suspension lift kit that I needed installed in my 4Runner so I gave Auto Customs to get an estimate and possibly make an appointment. When I called they asked me specifically what kit I had, the specifics of my vehicle, and a cost they expected. I rolled in at my appointment time and they promptly took my keys and got to work. About halfway through their work they ran into a bunch of rusted bolts that delayed the process. They took me inside the shop to show me exactly what the issue was and said since it's going to take longer they would have to charge me a little more. They also pointed out some things that I needed to be fixed (like broken end links on my sway bar). Anyways, they got the job done and I'm stoked on my new lift. I had my tires changed there a few months ago. The initial guy who helped me was really helpful and friendly. Tire popped after a week (not their fault) and I came back in to pick up my replacement. The lot was packed full and I waited about 10 mins before a truck left that was double parked. After he left, I pulled up to where he was, left my car running, and went in to see if I could quickly pick up my new tire. It was busy inside. I wait about 5 minutes and then a different guy who looked like an owner/manger came from the garage and started snapping at me, giving me attitude for being double parked. All snarky, he asks me "what makes you think you can leave your car there?" I told him because his vendor was just there and there was zero parking, and I just needed to pick up my order, absolutely floored he would talk to a customer like that. I don't know if it's because I looked young or being in my beater car when I came, but his demeanor changed after he looks me up on his computer. I leave, literally no one needed to get out, and another truck pulls up right where I was parked. As a fellow business owner, I am extremely careful how I leave reviews. I'm not a car guy but I figured cars are commonly double parked and need to be shuffled around at a garage with little parking. It's not even about service, it's easy, common sense stuff - be polite, common decency. I've spent a couple thousand in the past few months on my car but it doesn't matter if it's a regular customer or someone who hasn't spent a cent, I can't stand disrespect. These guys are awesome. I needed new tires for my GF's Nissan Versa, completely bald fronts. It was raining slick and I had to use her car for work. Almost slid and ate it on a turn going slow. I called John F. and he went out of his way to fix this issue instantly. Total time to find and get was about 1hour 30 minutes. I was next to him, he made a call, drove down to where he needed to get my tires, fixed my broken stem that had some sort of sensor in it and made my air light go away on the dash, replaced my tires and to top it all off dropped my car off too me down the street when it was done. I am not saying that they will drop your car off and pick you up but he did go out of his way to take care of my certain situation. WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND. I didn't ask for this he just did it. Auto Customs is located in Kakaako in the middle of the block. You won't see them from the street. To get to there, you must enter a gated parking lot off Auahi St. (they do validate). Parking entrance is next to CHAI Studio. If you are still wondering where they are, they are near Volvo off Ala Moana Blvd. behind Hank's Haute Dog. Or behind the building Sprint PCS is in off Ala Moana Blvd. Got an idea? One night, I was rushing to Powerhouse Gym, and their lot was full, so I opted for street parking. I some how backed my 6 y/o rear tire up against the curb and it finally gave out (cracked). I was losing air fast! I quickly walked a block over to see if Jon at Auto Customs (also a personal friend) was still there and if he could help. He told me to quickly move my car into the bay. As I parked it in the bay, my tire went completely flat. They didn't have any tire for my car in stock, but Jon helped me put on the spare and checked it for air so I'll be fine till I get on replacements. He also ordered me new tires to replace the two rear ones the next day. I was very lucky he was still there that night and that he's been very helpful! I really, REALLY like this place. They're professional, friendly & provide awesome service. Especially being a woman coming to an automotive shop, it can be a very... let's say 'intimidating,' sometimes-interesting experience. Ordered rims & tires & had them installed in little over a week. Also had some custom lighting work done by Auto Customs, which I was able to schedule & have completed in less than a week. I'm very pleased with the quality of their work, but most of all their customer service. Another thing I want to add is that their intentions are not to 'rip anybody off' (some shops will try to charge for every little friggin thing) & their prices are very reasonable. There are similar shops much closer to where I live (on the west side), but I'm glad I decided to go with them which I based my decision on yelp reviews!
