I just picked up a 2017 Honda Fit LX and I started to experience electrical issues after 3 days. It ends up loosing power on the road with signs that it could be the battery or alternator. I changed out the battery and drive about a mile where the symptoms came back. Thinking it's the alternator, I pull it out to get tested. Orilleys said they could not test it with their equipment and they have to special order. I asked AI and they brought me to CPR and glad they did! They not only tested the alternator but deemed it good...still charges. I read the the limited voltage regulator goes bad on these models out the blue. CPR was able to pinpoint that. He had options to repair it but was truthful that he is not 100 percent sure that the regulator is the issue since he does have a tested for that regulator. I let CPR know that I'll work with the dealership and thankfully they scheduled me with their repair shop. Really appreciates the service and honesty of CPR and will bring all my electrical to them first. read more

Brought in a alternator to be exchanged for a rebuilt for my Honda Acty van. Unfortunately, this is not a common replacement for this import. But the service individual did research and found that the parts could be acquired at the local automotive parts distributor. He called me back and said if I can bring the part in, he would be able to rebuild the unit and have it back by the next day. Very glad he was able to do this and save me the time and effort I would have to endure, Going internationally and having the part shipped to me and wait at least a few days before I can fix my vehicle. 5 stars for these guys who delivered on his estimate repair. read more

CPR is the cpr for your starters and alternators. If you need stock OEM starters and alternators for your Toyotas, Hondas, GM cars they have it. These are the types of car/truck brands I had/have, so call if you have other brand cars. They are cheaper than auto zone, Napa, Carquest, O'Reilly. So try calling them first or after you called the other parts stores for the priced. Thank you CPR for 25 years with me. read more

Great service and they do quality work. Rebuilt my starter motor and did it quickly. Highly recommend CPR for your rebuilds!

we were referred by my sons friend so we went there a few days ago for my alternator. Spoke to Joe and he gave us precise instructions on how to get to his store. We got there and everything was ready at the counter. The alternator worked great so we went back today for a starter. We asked how the business was going and like all the shop owners on Dillingham Blvd he is slow. Guys we have to take care of this business. Never mind all the big stores, small business are Hawaii's foundation, they put everything on the line to put food on their table. here is my personal rating Price A+ Product A+ Service A+ read more

Joe is a great guy. I have an older vehicle so my issue in find compatible parts is very difficult. Joe knees this and ordered 2 possible compatible starters to ensure it would work on my vehicle. I did indeed hired a mobile mechanic that came recommended to me by a friend but he and I didn't work out and Joe gave me the advice that got the install and brought my truck home. That's because the knows his starters. read more

I put a yelp quote out there to find a spot to get a new alternator. They responded pretty fast, and asked me to give them a call. Kelly helped and gave me the quotes for the alternator and said I could pick it up within 2 days. I got an email saying my alternator was ready, and we picked it up. It took a minute to find, but they had it ready to go. Service was friendly, and painless. The new alternator was installed by my hubs, and my car is a happy ride now. read more

Bought rebuilt alternator in June 2019 "lifetime warranty". Alternator made whining noises. Brought it back a couple days later and was given another REBUILT one. This one whined as well. Was told the whine would go away in time. May 2023 the alternator stopped whining and stopped working. Took it back for warranty replacement. Ron looked at it for a couple of seconds then said the alternator did not come from them. Showed receipt ect. then he said they would rebuild it. Got a call from them the next day saying they would not honor their warranty "CORROSION". I ended up buying a new alternator and took the old one back. Took the old one apart and found no "CORROSION" and freshly cross treaded bolts. LIFETIME WARRANTY my ass!!! read more

They've moved to 1824 Dillingham Boulevard. Just for your information. These guys are the best. Rebuilt my alternator in little over an hour. Don't have to worry about if you got the right alternator/starter with these guys because the exact same part is going back in your car. Also with comes with life time warranty. Fast, does good job and stand behind what they do. What can I ask for more! Thanks guys! read more

CPR Starters & Alternators - Central Pacific Rebuilders - My dirty alternator came back clean and perfect working order in about an hour - Auto Parts & Supplies Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I had a motor that wasn't working the way it should, and dropped it off for them to look at it and hopefully get it working without too much expense. Within 5 minutes they had it open and accurately determined the problem had nothing to do with the motor, and was probably bad wiring somewhere else. They were right! Not only did they help me, but they didn't even charge me when they totally could have taken advantage of me by charging for unnecessary services. This is the kind of business practice that makes me happy to spread the good word. I already recommended this shop to a coworker with a similar problem, and Im happy to recommend them to Yelpers. read more

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. I want to start off by saying that I'm sorry for neglecting you, the smart reader. To make it up to you, I have excellent information for you regarding car starters and alternators including the million dollar question, so you have to stick around for that. Also, I find this review fitting and meaningful for Memorial Day because Central Pacific Rebuilders has ties to the military and honor military personnel with a discount. What is a starter and an alternator, you ask. Good question. Well, a starter is what gets your engine going when you turn your key to start. An alternator powers your car's electrical system once the engine is running. So you see why these parts are essential to your car. That's why Central Pacific Rebuilders or CPR is in the starter and alternator business, particularly rebuilt starters and alternators but they sell new ones too. What's rebuilt mean? Another good question, your questioning is impeccable. It's not the same as re-manufactured(which is all new interior parts). Rebuilt means only the worn out interior parts of the starter or alternator are removed and replaced. In re-manufactured, all interior parts are removed and replaced with new parts. How much are the rebuilt starters and alternators? They cost less than re-manufactured ones. Here are some starter prices I researched for you: Napa's re-manufactured starter: $214+100 core deposit with a 3 year warranty O'Reilly's re-manufactured starter: $144+$90 core deposit with a lifetime warranty Central Pacific Rebuilders rebuilt starter: $129+$35 core deposit with a lifetime warranty As far as CPR goes, there policy is you have 7 days to return your core(your broken/old starter) to get your full core deposit back. The core deposit was $35 for me. Also, you can return as long as the part hasn't been installed, but they charge a 20% restocking fee and no returns after 5 days. Finally, the customer service was spot on and friendly. Now for the million dollar question: Are Central Pacific Rebuilder's starters and alternators reliable? Honestly, I can't answer that because I just got the starter, but I will update this review at a later date for you. Thank you for reading and remembering all the men and women who have passed on serving this country, the United States of America. Bye read more

Check ebay first. I had a generator rebuilt by CPR about five years ago. It was on my classic car, so only had 600 miles of use when sparks began to shoot out of the rear. I biked down 7 miles to CPR and they told me it would need a total rebuild for $250, which turns out to be the standard charge. That actually is a clever strategy, but when a couple of brushes only need to be replaced, it feels bad from the customer point of view. I asked the owner if I could just have my core back since they were the rebuilders and I had biked so far to get there. She replied that I should pay the bill that I incurred. The man at the counter said that they would keep my generator. I understand that it is a business, and if this had been a generator from any other re-builder than themselves, I would think that a happy customer would be more value than the bench test fee, particularly in the age of online reviews. So, I went on ebay and just installed a rebuild from a 100% feedback manufacturer on the mainland... $60 including shipping, no core charge. Got to me in two days, free shipping. Installed and works properly. Let's see if it beats the CPR 600 mile endurance challenge! read more

This is a good, honest well run repair shop. I came all the way from the mainland because I got tired of hearing how my auntie and uncle kept getting screwed over by bad mechanics. She was told 2x the alternator was bad, (neighbor and the local sears ) and Sears recharged her battery. Next morning, car dead. I was told this over the phone and assumed someone knew what they were doing- and because I knew how the shops can be here I was figuring at least $500 to fix, after towing and all the headache. I flew in from Las Vegas (hey, vacation right?) got here, ripped alternator out of Honda CR-V (since car would not start and jumper cables no way to test alternator in car) and brought it here to test. I came down here to do all the maintenance, tune up everyone's cars fix this alternator and save my auntie a lot of money since I am very mechanically inclined. Packed TOOLS in my suitcase.. I threw it on the counter and said "test it and if it needs fixing, do it"- they took it out back, bench tested it, opened it up and checked inside and said it looked like NEW. It was just a bad battery. I bought a battery from them and vehicle has been fine since, and we saved $$$ since anyone else would've sold her a battery and a new alternator, and who knows what else. Thank you guys for doing such a good service! Randy. read more

Was asking around looking at quotes for a New Alternator for a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. This place had the relatively the cheapest price. Although they needed to special order the part because they didn't have it on hand. They said they could bring in the very next day! Usually payment is needed but the owner allowed me to just pay and pick it up the next day when it was delivered. Put the new one in no problems and brought back the old one and got $35 for the old core. read more

This place is all about taking your money. They sold me a defective starter and refused to give me a refund! They did give me a new starter - but as I explained to them I bought another starter from O'Reillys because they were closed when I went to see them. So now I have a brand new starter that is useless! (Conceptually does it not make sense to just issue a refund instead of giving me a new unit? Especially since they can fix the defective one they originally gave me? The truth is that they keep your money instead of following through with their return policy!). Do yourself a favor and buy elsewhere because this is how they treat regular customers! read more

What a great find. The starter on my wife's CRV went out and it was over $500 at the dealer for an OEM one. Orielly's wanted $259 and I finally ended up getting a rebuild one Amazon for $159. The Amazon starter lasted 3 days and locked up. I remembered seeing this place as I drive into Honolulu so I thought I would give them a call. The person who answered the phone was very nice and told me it would be $147 to rebuild my starter and they could do it in 2 hrs. I dropped it off at lunch and picked it up after work. It was all rebuilt and they even cleaned & painted the outside. I got a military discount and a lifetime warranty. I went home and installed it and it works like a champ. Not sure how long it will last, but I am happy with everything so far. Thank you CPR -Mike read more

Good customer service. My alternator just crapped out on my 96' Celica so I came here under recommendation. They're known for selling some new but mainly rebuilt alternators and starters. The rebuilt alternator from here ran me $119 (before taxes) and it comes with a lifetime warranty (only good for original purchaser). Not too shabby. I went to this place last wk to buy rebuild alternator. I went to my mechanic and he suggested to me I should bring this alternator to checker to check for voltage. I went to checker(I think now is not checker but I forgot the name). The guy at checker told me that the alternator is bad and I should buy one from them. I went back to starters &alternators place and brother BOb test it and he said it worked and the voltage is 14.5. I even asked him to talk to my mechanic and he said ok. I brought thismy alternator back to my mechanic and he installed it. So far no problem yet. Big mahalo to keoni and brother Bob. They are professional and treated me with respect. PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THERE SERVICES!!!!!.................... Droped off my alternator for a 20 year old bike that I was restoring to have it checked out, I told them that it has already be tested and works. ALL I asked for is for them to take it apart to make sure everthing is good and to replace what's needed (It had several rusted scews...)and have it repainted (I even dropped off a black can of paint.) NO ONE CALLED, so I called back a week later and nobody knew anything about requested work to be preformed so I went by to the shop to follow up and the guy had to call someone and told me it was going to cost me $50 ????? (A new one only cost $120 w/shiping and warranty )asked him what work was preformed and he said that he "wasn't sure but everthing worked fine"...What???? He didn't even provide me with a copy of a work order or payment? ALSO they never even painted the part???? SO...... WHAT WAS I CHARGED FOR??? I had to replace the rusty screws myself, repaint the unit myself. If this is the type of business this guy runs by ripping off people for work that was not preformed.....I feel sorry for you, this is BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!!! I WILL NOT USE THERE SERVICES ANYMORE. read more

Great service. My Nippon Denso alternator crapped out on me one morning, leaving me stuck on the side of the road. I swapped in the spare I had, but that one died the next day. I gave these guys a call, and they let me know that they could rebuild it in a matter of hours. So, the next day I took my alternator out, handed it over, and went back home. 3 hours later, I got a phone call letting me know that my alternator was rebuild, included a limited lifetime warranty on parts and labor, and that I could pick it up whenever I wanted. I headed straight there, drove back home and installed the nicely rebuild alt. They were nice enough to add a coat of paint and position the warranty sticker nicely. 10 minutes later, on a test drive, my battery light came on again! (oh no!) Alternator wasn't charging my battery! -Expletive-, I said to myself. I called them back, and they told me to bring it back. They guy I was talking to said he'd check it out. I went in, handed it over again, and not 10 minutes later he came back out to the storefront and told me that whoever had rebuild it had rebuilt it with the wrong part. He asked me to wait another 20 minutes and he'd fix it right up. So, I waited, and sure enough, 20 minutes later he came back to the front with my re-rebuild alt, handed it to me and told me it was ready. Drove back home, installed it, and it's been working fine since. It's been around 5 months since my whole ordeal. I'd like to tip my hat to Starters & Alternators for handling the situation so well. Had they accused me of buggering the install, I would have instantly frozen the charge, left the alternator, and taken my money elsewhere. And the technician didn't have to fix it that day either. He could have told me to come back the next day, since it was so close to closing. But he handled it. He fixed my alt, and I am completely satisfied with the repair. The lifetime warranty (which is voided, by the way, if you soak the alt in any fluid; makes sense) is a nice touch. If I need a starter or alternator rebuilt in the future, I'll come straight here. Great service, quick service, and reasonable prices. read more

I swore I would never go back to these guys after a bad experience a few years ago. Glad I did. They are under new management and the woman running the place keeps it clean and organized. They even washed off my alternator so it looks new. Glad to do business with them and would go again. One star missing because it was a little on the expensive side but everyone is like that out here unless you have some kind of hookup. read more

I went to Central Pacific Rebuilders - Starters & Alternators on Saturday, February 6, 2016 to have my starter for my truck rebuilt. One of the workers quoted me for $119 (plus tax) to rebuild my starter. Later that same day, they called me to pick up the starter as they said they were done rebuilding/fixing it and I paid $125.60 (in cash) for the services. When I installed the starter into my truck, the starter was not working and had the same problem that it had before I had the starter rebuilt. I ran a diagnosis on the truck and it showed that the problem was still the same and the problem with the starter was not fixed. I went back to Central Pacific Rebuilders - Starters & Alternators on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 to let them know that even though they claimed to have rebuilt the starter, they did not fix the problem with it. The worker claimed that they did rebuild the starter and it should work properly. The worker even told me that the starter should be working and all they needed to do was clean it up. I explained to them that it did not work as my truck was still having the same problem with the starter before it was rebuilt. I left to try the starter one more time, but yet again, the problem was still with the starter. I called the company to see if I could get a refund because they charged me for rebuilding services that did not work. They then notified me that I had 4 hours to come back to the company and prove that it was the "rebuilt" starter that was the problem and not anything else. They insisted that I brought my truck to their company so that they could see it themselves. I told them that my truck is not able to drive on the road because the registration is currently expired. I had to go to Ron's Performance to get a recommendation for an equivalent starter. I then went to Napa Auto Parts to buy the new starter. I installed the new starter (from Napa Auto Parts) and the engine started with no problems. Within the given 4-hour timeframe, I went back to Central Pacific Rebuilders to show them the evidence that the rebuilt starter was faulty and that they did not properly fix/rebuild it. I requested my refund AGAIN, but they continued to give me a hard time about bringing in my truck, giving them the rebuilt starter back, and claiming that it was my fault that the starter was not working. After a long day of running around and constantly going back and forth with the company about getting the refund, they reluctantly gave me my refund, but inconveniently gave it to me in the form of a Bank of Hawaii check. I originally wanted to do business with Central Pacific Rebuilders - Starters & Alternators because they have such good reviews and feedback from other customers online. Unfortunately, my experience with them was HORRIBLE. I would NEVER want to do business with them again. They had terrible customer service and made it very difficult to get a refund or even find out what they did to "rebuild" my starter. read more
