I ordered a PPI from Matt for a 2002 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet with 26,600 miles. The car was in such immaculate condition that my wife did not want me to spend the $250 for the inspection. I decided I wanted the inspection anyways and was extremely satisfied that I used AutoCritic. Although the Carfax was clean Matt did notice some prior paintwork on the vehicle and that the front hood was replaced by the prior owner. I was able to get some service records by contacting a dealer noted in the Carfax history and it substantiated Matt's analysis. Matt told me that not all states require body work be reported to Carfax which is a lesson not to just purchase based on Carfax history. Matt also noticed that the prior owner was using a green colored coolant instead of the Porsche standard. He advised an immediate flush and replacement with the correct coolant. He also diagnosed a faulty window regulator and provided me the results of the OBD scanner showing a faulty circuit in the headlamps. He also noticed it was missing the lock key for the wheel nuts. This guy does not miss a detail. I was able to use this information to negotiate the price of the vehicle downwards by nearly $4000. This savings more than justified the $250 I spent for the inspection. I can now apply some of the cost savings towards an Intermediate Shaft Bearing (IMS) bearing upgrade and have a very nice and reliable 911 to enjoy for a long time. Based on the inspection report and the dealer's refusal to budge on price or repairs, we decided not to buy. Matt is absolutely the best person to take a look at a vehicle before purchasing. I was ready to buy my first car used and was hesitant since the dealership would not let me take the car off the lot to my mechanic across town. I hired Matt for just under $200 for a Toyota and couldn't recommend him more. The inspection is very detailed and he is easy to schedule and communicate with. He recommended a few maintenance repairs on the vehicle and was extremely patience when I asked a million questions. When I took the car into my mechanic to get the repairs done, the mechanic said he'd do a full inspection and let me know what I "actually" needed done to the car. You'd be nuts not to use Auto Critic if buying a used car in the Dallas area. Matt is thorough and PROMPT. He did the inspection the next day after my request and immediately called me to talk me through his findings. Within about 3 hours from the phone call, I had his written report with photos. I highly recommend Matt and Auto Critic! Matt has inspected four cars for our family in the past few years. We live out of state, so he is our eyes and ears for our purchases. He is very professional and knowledgeable, and he spends time on the phone discussing any issues and giving his opinion. We turned down one car recently when Matt discovered hail damage, after the dealer assured me there were no major issues. All information Matt has given us has proven to be 100% accurate. Our daughter's car was older, and he told us what to expect in repairs with approximate costs, and he was 100% correct.
