We paid $400 for a pre-purchase inspection from Pre Buy Guys. Based on our experience, I would not recommend them. My wife and I found a Tesla Model Y at Kian Motors and negotiated a price contingent on it passing an inspection. My wife hired Ulysses from Pre Buy Guys to inspect it before we bought it. Ulysses told us everything passed except a tire pressure sensor, which the dealership agreed to pay to fix. He specifically assured my wife that the tires were good, and his written report marked tire tread depth and normal tire wear as "Passed." We relied on those assurances and purchased the car. A few days later, we took it to a tire shop for the sensor repair. They told us the tires were unsafe to drive and needed replacement--an unexpected expense of more than $1,500. When we contacted the dealership, they declined to cover the tires, pointing out that our independent inspector had cleared them. We then contacted Ulysses. Initially, he blamed the dealership and suggested tire shops routinely tell customers their tires are bad. I offered to have him meet my wife at the tire shop to discuss the findings directly, but he declined. He eventually offered to refund the $400 inspection fee. That offer does not address the full impact. Had we known the tires needed replacement, we would have renegotiated the purchase price or walked away. We paid for an inspection specifically to identify problems like this before buying. This experience has also left us questioning the reliability of the rest of his inspection. The attached pictures show: 1. His final inspection report marking the tire checks as passed. 2.Ulysses's text assuring my wife the tires were good. 3. The tire shop's findings. Based on our experience, I would not use Pre Buy Guys again. read more

Ulysses with The Pre Buy Guys was fantastic! Personable, thorough, and knowledgeable. He inspected the used car I was buying from top to bottom and gave me total peace of mind that I was making a good purchase. Highly recommend for anyone buying a used vehicle. The reassurance alone is worth it. Thank you, Ulysses! read more

Ulysses did my pre purchase inspection at Hofeinz there on Plano Parkway. I live in Austin but they had a good deal going on a MB Metris Cargo van but I needed a PPI before going all the way up there. After I hired him, Ulysses coordinated a time the next day (Saturday) and was able to complete the PPI including the test drive. He quickly texted me pictures and reached out to talk. Because of his inspection I was able to put $500 down to hold the van until I could get up there on Monday. When I test drove it, everything checked out just like Ulysses said. His inspection showed wear on the tires...and after I purchased it, the dealership took it in for a MB recall and I ended up with 5 new tires! Great job and would recommend....especially if time is tricky. read more

Ulysses is the man, I am purchasing a tesla out of state at a Plano, TX dealership and he caught major issues that are now thankfully being addressed by the seller, potentially saving me thousands in out of pocket repair cost down the line. He was very communicative and texted + sent his full inspection report same day with minimal delay. I would never purchase another vehicle again without a prepurchase inspection again because of what I learned from this amazing experience. read more

Ulysses was amazing. He did my PPI for my tesla and is a thorough professional. Quality

Ulysses is a true professional! He was kind, courteous, friendly, and helpful. I was interested in purchasing a car while out of state. I spoke to Ulysses about his process of conducting a vehicle inspection and he was very informative. He answered all of my questions and clearly outlined the steps that he would take to conduct an inspection of a Jaguar XJL Supercharged that I was interested in purchasing. Ulysses' inspection was thorough (much more thorough than I thought). He conducted a timely 200+ point inspection and included two reports and pictures of the inspected areas of the exterior, interior, under the hood, and the undercarriage, resulting in my decision to purchase the vehicle. He communicated effectively with me, kept me informed along the way, and informed me of his findings. His pricing is very reasonable and his work is excellent. He was convenient, flexible, and performed the service in exceptional fashion. I am grateful that his business exists because without him, I would not have been comfortable purchasing a vehicle from across the country. I trusted his judgment and he did not let me down. Thank you, Ulysses! I recommend The Pre Buy Guys 100%! read more

Got burned very badly buying a car on the internet a few years back. So this time I used a pre purchase inspection. I used Ulysses to check out a used Mercedes and he did an excellent job. Not only did he go over an extensive check list he initiated a video call with me to show me what he was doing. Even the dealership called me after and said was a class act Ulysses is. If you are buying a car near Plano, Texas, make sure you have the Pre Buy Guys check it out first. read more

A MUST have for anyone purchasing a used vehicle, best money I ever spent. Ulysses is very professional and will meticulously comb through every square inch of the vehicle before your purchase. Inside, outside, and diagnostic report. It is clear he is a trained professional that can point out things that will otherwise not show up on a CarFax report. His services allowed me to negotiate multiple thousand off the final price off my purchase and avoid buying a car riddled with problems. I cannot recommend this service enough. read more

I found The Pre-Buy Guys on Yelp while looking for someone to perform a pre-purchase inspection on a Jaguar. I had Ulysses check out a car that was located at a Plano dealer since I live far from Texas. Like many used cars, this one looked great in the photos. Ulysses was very responsive, inspected the car a couple of days after I called him, pulled all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), performed a detailed visual inspection, and provided a written report. Based on his feedback that there were a number of DTCs, the car was parked outside, and was very dirty (naturally, it was clean in the auto dealer photos), I passed. This was $200+ well spent. As good fortune would have it, I came across and purchased a much better Jag soon thereafter of the same year, model, color, etc. I haven't met Ulysses other than to speak/text with him on a number of occasions, but I can highly recommend his services. read more

Wonderful! He did an excellent job checking out the vehicle so we could know for sure that a drive to Dallas was worth it. The salesman said that the mechanic checked absolutely everything! Will definitely use again. Thank you. read more

Ulysses was great. He got back to me the same day and would've gone and inspected the vehicle that afternoon if it was available.
