I took my car to this company for a small repair. I was told I needed several things done to the tune of almost $3000. A few months after work was done on my car I took it to Lexus for another issue. I asked about the work that was done by this company. I was told they used 'after market' parts. They were confronted and they denied doing so. Please be aware. What a wonderful experience in car repair. Robert and his team takes great pride in their work. I knew I needed a trusted mechanic to look at my brakes, shocks, etc.....all the noisy parts of my suspension. I came to the shop based on the reviews and these reviews were not lying. Not only are they extremely transparent with cost and time to completion, they are extremely customer service oriented. I bought my car here after I purchased it to have the timing belt done as well as put new brakes all around. As I said they were completely transparent about the time it took to complete and finished on time. My car is running so much smoother than when I purchased it! I would highly highly HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who needs their car worked on. OH and what I meant about transparency was they have an instagram and he puts pictures up on instagram when they were working on the car in real time. I drive a 10-year-old Toyota Camry. I took my car into TBM thinking I needed some work, which was definite I DID need work. I was scared to drive my car. It felt like it was going to fall to pieces. It turns out it was the wheel bearing, which makes absolute sense to me. I had that fixed. My brakes I knew needed to be replaced. I had those done. I needed a routine oil change, so I had that done. I had them replace my spark plugs. Turns out the timing belt/chain was ok and did not need anything done. I appreciate the fact that they said this instead of saying yes it needed to be replaced. I now feel safe driving my car again. I have a mechanic for life! I recommend this place to anybody who feels like me and wants somebody who really tells you what is going on and actually fixes it! Robert at Timing Belt Masters is amazing. I was referred to Robert by my neighbor who happens to be Robert's FORMER BOSS... I mean, who does that? So I figured the guy must be good. After my car was stolen, Robert rebuilt my transmission and power steering motor. It would have been easy for him to sell me all new parts and 100 hours of labor, but I felt like he treated my money like his money and looked for ways to do it at the most reasonable price possible. The previous owner, Vladimir had been recommended by a friend as very honest and dependable. When we called for appt. to bring our car in we were surprised to learned that the previous owner had retired. At first we considered beginning the search for another trustworthy mechanic, a task which I dreaded. No doubt like me you have encountered mechanics who are difficult to fully trust. I can honestly say that I am very glad that we took the advice of another reviewer here on yelp and gave the new owner, Robert, a chance. He more than lived up to the honest reputation that Timing Belt Masters has established. He not only gave a car a thorough look over, but informed us clearly of what he recommended, what was needed and what could wait. The prices were clearly explained and laid out for us. A not so brief background... I am a former ASE certified mechanic who has been working on cars since I could drive, so I am pretty conversant on this subject. I still do most of my own work, but there is only so much you can do out of your own garage within reasonable limits and my schedule doesn't allow for involved repairs. Also, I am exceptionally picky about who touches my weekend car as it is fairly uncommon to find in good condition and I am the original owner. I have had the dealer screw up royally on several occasions, (one was a monumental mistake) so I know what it is like to discover that you paid a lot of money to find out the job wasn't done correctly. Some time ago, my sister told me about Timing Belt Master and how honest they are. I used to have a great mechanic in Garland, but he moved to California years ago so I was on the lookout for someone else. After the last garage who touched my car blew up the engine and then fixed it several years ago, I have been more than hesitant to let anyone else work on it, but I knew the timing belt was coming due for replacement and I wanted a specialist to do the job as I have never entirely trusted the repairs done on / around the engine. It is good to have another set of experienced eyes to give an opinion and spot things that may get overlooked. Enter Timing Belt Master owned by Mr. Robert Hernandez. From the first contact on the phone to when I picked it up, Mr. Hernandez and the mechanic Jose put me at ease - one major factor being that in conversation I found out we both grew up in Oak Cliff and are big fans of the show Speed Racer. This may sound trivial, but having common ground is an important factor for trust when you haven't seen someone's work yet. The job was completed correctly and UNDER budget with the mechanic replacing a few additional parts such as the crank and cam seals, plus the timing cover was chewed up and he thought it best to be safe and not leave it like that. I concurred with his expert assessment and have the used parts as a reference for the condition stated. I am STUNNED that there were no ratings at all for this establishment as I find Mr. Hernandez and his business to be very honest, replace only what was needed, yet still kept an eye out for less obvious issues that could cost you a lot later down the road. Also the final bill was VERY fair, so I felt compelled to do a write up on this fine garage. Many non-mechanics do not understand what it is like to be on the other side repairing cars for a living and how expensive the parts can be (which is not in the control of the mechanic) or the fact that you always have to buy new tools and equipment to keep with the models coming out. If you find a good mechanic, listen to them and do the repairs they recommend as THEY don't want you coming back 2 months later with a blow head gasket because you didn't want to pay a few extra bucks for the water pump or radiator. Real professionals feel bad when they aren't allowed to do the job properly, and you will too if you wind up at the side of the road. BTW, despite the name of the shop, they do a lot of other work besides timing belts - certainly any "light line" to heavier repairs. If you have a question, just give them a call and ask. I had been using Timing Belt Masters for 15 years or more and was more than a little upset to learn that the ownership had changed hands. I would rather change cardiologists than mechanics. I contacted the previous owner who had retired and sold the business. He assured me that Robert (the new owner) was a good man, and that Jose (the main mechanic) was remaining with Timing Belt Masters. With some minor work to be done on my car and nowhere else to go, I decided to give Robert a try. Everything was good. Since then I have returned with my granddaughter's car in need of more significant work. It's been many years since I have crossed the threshold of a "Dealership Maintenance" department, and I don't see it in my future. At timing Belt Masters I have been most pleased with the service, price and integrity. If you have an out of warranty car - both my cars are out of warranty - this is the place to go. Vlade is terrific. He pays great attention to detail and to the quality of his work. His pricing is very reasonable. I basically won't have mechanical repair done to my car of any consequence without first running it by Vlade to make sure the work in fact needs to be done, and to make sure the pricing is fair. In most instances, Vlade ends up doing the work unless some specialty manufacturer parts are needed or there's some other circumstance. I also let him do scheduled maintenance on our cars, again because he's much less expensive than the dealer and doesn't try to sell a bill of goods.
