First, full disclosure. I've used their services for many years, without issues. HOWEVER, something has changed. I took my daughter's car in for repair. Was given a quote. In reviewing the quote, I had several questions. So I called asking to speak to Jeff, ( person's name on the quote. Not the person who looked at my daughter's car). I was told he was busy and would call me back. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. I called 4 times over a week and never received a call back. I did finally reach him , on the fifth call and was able to ask a few of the questions I had. Spent the weekend discussing repair options with my daughter and still thought I would give Auto Body Excellence the benefit of the doubt and use them to repair my daughter's car. I called them Monday and asked for Jeff again. He was busy again and I left my phone number. He never called back. I called Tuesday and asked to speak to Jeff and was told he was busy and I could leave my number. instead we will use another repair service. Clearly they are currently too busy to care about customer service for a long-standing customer. It's a shame. read more

This is my third car over 10 years that I have had repaired here. For the first 2 repairs, their color matching was perfect, A+, much better than the factory. However, for the most recent car, the color matching was not good. Much worse than the factory. Generally, many mass produced cars have average color matching because parts like bumpers are painted at different factories. Then I asked why the color matching was so much worse then my previous 2 repairs. The owner came out and just made excuse after excuse. Claiming that the bumper will never match the fender. That is BS. Show me any car where they resprayed, both the bumper and the fender, and they will match perfectly. Then he is trying to point out all the flaws on new cars. When you have paint hand mixed for a respray, any decent painter can get the colors to match. They do a test spray, let it dry, compare the color, and adjust toners. The painter was clearly in a hurry. I was far more upset by the owner yelling at me with excuses, than the color mismatch. Their standards have clearly dropped. And are at best, average now. read more

One month later it looks like my car is in worse shape then when I left it with a damaged door Nobody claims responsibility & please don't hold your breath if they say that they will call you right back. The one time Troy said he called & left a message ( not sure who he left it with but it wasn't With me I wouldn't take my worst enemies car here they don't deserve it. Monday I'm told it'll be ready Tuesday Tuesday I'm told it'll be ready Wednesday Wednesday I'm told I can pick it up Thursday but will have to come back to put the molding on ( if ever) I decided to take a look at my car myself on Thursday figuring I'll be looking at my fixed car minus the molding & almost had a heart attack when I arrived at the bump shop. My car now looks like it's ready to be scrapped By the way my car is a 2011 Volvo C70 in perfect shape (was) I'm at the shop waiting for the manager however they are probably lying about that as well Alas the manager shows up & is very apologetic & ASSURES me that my car will b ready if not Friday (not likely) Monday the absolute latest. Friday I received a call from John at the shop like he's my new best friend I answered the phone hello, the person on the other end just responds hi, how ya doing ( very professional) I asked whom I'm speaking with & he responded by just saying John. Anyway he was very sorry to notify me that they JUST NOTICED A BROKEN CABLE I was quite curious as to why they wouldn't make sure that they have all the working parts that r needed to the last minute & of course no response. Much later in the afternoon he called me back to inform me that the part should be in SOMETIME TUESDAY I asked him y they didn't send someone up to LA (supposedly where the part is & there isn't anything closer then this) to pick it up & it could've been finished he said that humans r not allowed to pick up parts it's a supply depot. I asked him y then it wasn't over nighted to his shop & his answer was" it was over nighted & will b there Tuesday. I thought that was a bit strange to over night something from LA & get it 3 days later. Hmmmm Oh yeah when I was taking pictures of my car a worker came out of the garage & said to me "if u r not happy take your car out of here & get someone else to finish it" Very professional As far as good ole John the manager is concerned with, is my review on Yelp. He is pleading with me to remove it altogether 1 month no car on a 5 day job. Bottom line if u don't care about time & respect it could b the place to go. THANKFULLY, I haven't had a lot of cause to find an autobody place lately (KNOCK WOOD!). But, a little old bitty hit my car in April and her insurance company (Nationwide) listed Auto Body Excellence as their only Poway location... I went with them b/c of proximity. And, again, I haven't had an "auto body issue" in a REALLY long time, but they were AWESOME! I arrived during their office remodel - oops - it was only 3 days, but i got there then. they were SO awesome about it! I felt VERY comfortable with everyone there. they got the quote together immediately. I had an issue that i had lost my driver's license so i needed to get a new one (to get the rental car) - the delay was no problem. when i (proudly) appeared with my paper license, they were ready for me and everything went smoothly. I dropped off my jeep on a tuesday afternoon and was called first thing on friday to collect her. Honestly, I was impressed. I thought the job was "perfect". They even washed my car. So Jody had a bad experience. I didn't. Shop office very clean, greeted immediately, estimate completed quickly. They found some stuff my adjuster didn't, the adjuster agreed and the repair authorized. Car back in the time they said it would take and when I called with a question or two I was never on hold and got a straight answer. Repair was mainly paint and it was awesomely matched. And I'm picky. They had some issues 5-6 years ago but cleaned house management and employee-wise I think. Been there a long time and have a good following. Highly recommend. read more

Hi Everyone, If there was a negative rating i would have given that. But unfortunately this site does not allow that. I had a really really really bad experience with these guys. The staff is extremely rude . Their service really poor. And the worst part is if you go to poway toyota , they would recommend the auto body excellence for any body repair. I am not sure if the close proximity is the reason or there is some other reason. This would have been 4 stars if my car was fixed properly. I brought my car in because Allstate has them as a good hands repair shop: not a competent shop. I brought my car in, left it for a week and paid for a rental and the car looked worse the bumper was warped so they tinkered for 3 hours and chipped my new paint job and then said we will order a new bumper again. Brought the car back got a rental and left it for another week came back the car was waaaaaaay worse more paint missing and the bumper didn't fit because they never ordered the new one as promised. Then, they say bring it back a 3rd time. Allstate is working on removing them as a preferred shop, got half of my deduction charge back from them, and went to CHROME in Poway.. Amazing!! read more

I recently went back to them after having my rear panel repaired by them two years ago. I was hearing a squeak in the same location where they performed the repair and I thought it was due to the previous work that they performed on my car. Their managers, Nadine and Bill, were extremely helpful. I took a ride with Bill who tried to troubleshoot the noise. He was able to find the noise and he repaired it. The squeaking noise had nothing to do with their original repair but was caused by a latch on my rear seat. I would highly recommend them and I thank them for a job well done. This shop has the most exceptional service, repair work and staff for a car that required extensive repair work. Absolutely 5 stars for quality of work and service; prompt, professional, and trustworthy. While waiting for a light to change in LaJolla, a driver hit the gas instead of the brake and went directly into the back end of my car. Luckily no one was hurt, but I thought the car was totaled and was uncertain until the insurance company approved the repair a few days later. I love the car and really didn't want to replace it (Mercedes C-class). Very fortunately, Auto Body Excellence was one of Allstate's preferred/approved vendors. This is the first time I've need an auto repair shop and am so lucky that this was the shop selected. The car looks beautiful and there is absolutely no residual from the accident. The paint matches perfectly, the trunk opens as if new, and the car profile looks exactly the same prior to being hit. It also drives the same as prior to the accident and I feel safe driving the car. This is a car that was almost determined as totaled and sent to salvage. The service and staff were truly exceptional. Especially, the follow up from Shasta was impeccable. She continuously updated me on the progress of the work and when the car would be available for pick up. Working with this shop couldn't be easier or more pleasant. I contacted her 2 months after the repairs because I noticed I couldn't easily pop the trunk. I brought the car back to the shop and they corrected the problem and it was fixed. Sounds ridiculous that it took me 2 months to notice the truck wasn't fully operational, but I was out of town and wasn't using the car. Although it was 2 months later, I continued to experience the same level of excellence. Highly recommend this shop and can only provide nothing but positive feedback! read more

I'm very satisfied with how my car came out. These mechanics are amazing and the customer service is outstanding. My car was involved in an hit and run accident where the back side of my car was severely damaged (bumper was badly dented while the back window was completely shattered), however auto body excellence took care of it and even made my car better than it was prior to the accident. Highly recommend Auto Body Excellence for any auto body repairs! I am completely satisfied with the work that was done on my car. There was quite a bit of damage from being rear ended at a stop light. After initially dropping my car off there they evaluated the damage to be a lot more than what the other driver's insurance had quoted. They told me it was going to take 3 weeks to complete instead of the 5 days the estimated initially. I was super bummed. Shasta called me every two days to update me on the progress. I was referred to AutoBody Excellence through my insurance, and I couldn't be happier! I needed extensive body repair on the passenger's side of my car. The process was made simple. When I dropped my car off my questions were all answered as Brad explained in detail what needed to be done. Throughout the entire process I was informed about what stage they're working on, and if there was a change in ETA via text. Initially, there was an issue with my insurance claim and Brad went out of his way to call the agent that day and explain the damages in further detail with the claim agent resolving the issue completely. Before I went to pick up my car, they worked hard testing the battery and other components to make sure I wouldn't have any issues. Dealing with any kind of collision repair is always un-pleasant, and you never feel like your car comes out good as new in most cases, but I must emphasize that I am completely blown away at the personal, friendly, and down-to-earth attitude I received when I walked into Auto Body Excellence. Additionally, the work that was performed on my car was superior in craftmanship. The front bumper and radiator on my 06 Accord was in pretty bad shape after a collision I sustained, but when I walked out to pick up my car, it looked like it was new on the lot.
